    Hello Friends. Today I share with you someting a little different- the Kimber Micro 9 Raptor! This is an exciting pistol to share and I hope you enjoy.
    Some things to note, this isn't a review. I'm not going to go over a lot of stats and specifics. Also, this isn't a place where I intend to give tips and tricks. Instead, I would like to talk about the pistol, why I like it, and some other initial impressions. Enjoy!

    I own this gun. Before I ever fired it, I replaced the grips with Hogue as I do with all my pistols.
    It’s a highly recommended customization.
    YMMV

    Hello Robert! First time viewer here and now, after this video I found going through all the Micro 9 sites, a subscriber. After my own purchase of a new Kimber Micro 9, just over couple months ago. It’s just a two tone Rosewood. That right out of the box, using white box Winchester ammo, sent the first shot right through the bullseye just off center at 1 o’clock. With the full mag of six resting within 6” of each other at 10 yards. Then in 8” at 15, with all in the 12” rondel at 20 yards, then hits a water balloon at 50 yards in one try. Very satisfied and will run a couple hundred through, as a test to be my concealed carry piece. I will be installing the MCARBO Springs Kit soon, as the trigger is a little heavy for rapid fire for me, that seams to add too much hand tension to be able to keep on target. But hey good luck with your new Custom ! Take care and stay safe and healthy!

      This will be my 3rd Kimber . I almost got the Raptor instead of my Stainless Target II. BUT AVAILABILITY was not good at that time. I'm glad I went with my second choice because now I'll be sporting one sweet carry gun the Kimber Raptor micro 9 is and has to be the sweetest looking pistol on the market. Rather have 1 kimber then 2 Glocks anyday of the week.

      I love this pistol. Looks and feels great. My hand got over the "break in" period- people laugh, but those front serrations really sting after 100 rounds down range. All in all, a bit more expensive than the rest, but great quality. Thanks for the comment! Cheers.

    As semiautomatic pistols go, the 1911 is hands down my favorite. I love the 1911 chambered in just about any caliber. .38, .9mm, .380, .45 its all good. The 9mm is a comfortable, shootable round that I am happy to shoot all day long. The .45 can wear you down a bit, if you know what I mean. I like Colt a lot, but Kimber has some nice stuff.

    • @RobertHamm
      @RobertHamm  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +StellarBlue1 hi there. I hear ya. I pretty much prefer the 1911 stule designs. The short barrel 9mm raptor has more kick than a carry or officer model 45, but the compactness makes up for that in the concealing department. I am happy to see the Micro chambered in 9mm. I had to CDP package Kimber Solo and lived it. As far as Kimber go, I've owned many. It's my favorite brand of handgun. But that's just me. Cheers.

    • @StellarBlue1
      @StellarBlue1 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Robert- Yeah, forgot about the much shorter barrel causing more of a jump than a full size 1911. But, the smaller caliber does help the impact a bit, don't ya think? That Kimber Micro Raptor does have a fine look to it, doesn't it?

    • @RobertHamm
      @RobertHamm  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, there is no doubt that I like the look of the Micro 9 Raptor. It's a beautiful pistol even if it is a little hard on the hands. As far as handling, I prefer the commander size. I have always found the .45 to be easy to control with tight groups. And, yes, I shoot Kimber for my full size. I have the Pro Crimson Cary 2, and it's a beauty. I've been considering an ultra in Raptor. Short barrel 9's are always snappy. A firm grip helps control any snap though. I started off at about 5" groups with the Micro 9, maybe a bit larger. I was not happy with that. It felt different, but once I got the hang of it everything got better. I consistently group less than 3 inches with controlled fire at 21 feet and about 6-7 inches rapid fire/draw fire. I'm happy with that. Cheers!

    • @Bill14886
      @Bill14886 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Robert Hamm that’s some pretty decent shooting, especially for a defense pistol. Kimbers are my favorite, I’m on the fence between a ultra carry and the micro 9. But either way I’m sure either one will make me smile knowing I have a reliable accurate weapon on my side as soon as I make my choice and bring one of the 2 home. Thanks for the great video, well done . You certainly did a great job of twisting my arm towards the micro 👍

    • @RobertHamm
      @RobertHamm  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad you liked the review and welcome to the club. Yeah, it’s a beautiful firearm. No negative info, just make sure to keep some recoil springs available as spares. They go out quick. I think the manual recommends changing them every 500 shots. You can pick up a pack of 3 for less than 20 bucks. I can’t say why it’s this way because I don’t know, but I change them out whenever it doesn’t cycle right. I haven’t kept count. Maybe 1k rounds or so. Enjoy!

      @dieselmutt8865 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have this exact Micro 9 as well as the Rapide Black Ice version. They do have a bit heavier triggers than probably is necessary and would likely shoot a bit better with a lighter trigger. You can get trigger kits to change that to around the 4-5# range without getting too light. I might look into that for the both of mine. Great little handguns otherwise.

  • @RobertHamm
    @RobertHamm  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    @R Sjr- Well, if price was an issue we would all drive the same, cheap car. Mine cam with a KimPro mag, by the way. But there are other pistols that do the same for less... cough- shield... cough cough.. I didn't mind paying for mine. In fact, I was considering the Sig SAS. But in the end I have been a long time fan of Kimber. Cheers.

    You said you would do another video after a 1000 rounds, am I not seeing it? Seriously thinking about trading in my Sigs for Kimber in .380 and 9mm and doing the research. GREAT video by the way! It's my favorite so far on the micros!

    • @RobertHamm
      @RobertHamm  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Debbra, I didn't make one. The pistol is doing great. Over 3k rounds. Still bites the hand a bit from the front checkering. The recoil is more manageable now then before, but that's because of practice. as far as 9 vs .380- 9 is cheaper to shoot than .380 and has way better ballistics. Unless you just need the smaller round (and therefore easier racking the slide and easier recoil) I would go with the 9.
      Cheers!

    Nice photography. I noticed the barrel looks scratched. Is that normal? How does it shoot?

    • @RobertHamm
      @RobertHamm  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +The Triggerati Hi. Thanks for your comment. Like any short barrel 9mm, it's snappy. It's easy to control if you have good wrist strength. Otherwise it'll be all over the place. I shoot well with this pistol, but it took a couple hundred rounds for me to get the hang of this particular gun. All in all I find it to be accurate and reliable. As for the barrel, it's not scratches, it's just not polished highly either. I have often thought that I would polish it up myself. Although the ramps are polished from the factory, I too thought they could have spent a bit more time on the barrel itself. Cheers.

    Please don't do the open-the-box thing. We all know what pistol boxes contain.

    • @RobertHamm
      @RobertHamm  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Theodore Mann who asked you for your two cents in the first place?!? Please don't do the "troll-a-video" thing. We all know what kind of tool you are for that comment.

    • @hilljayden2122
      @hilljayden2122 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      When you provide the opportunity for people to respond to your reviews, you are inviting their' "two cents worth." That's the whole point. Also, I was polite, and trying to offer a helpful suggestion that I think all reviewers would do well to consider, and many viewers would welcome.

    • @RobertHamm
      @RobertHamm  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Theodore Mann Your statement was unnecessary and inadequate. You assumed that everyone knows what comes with a new pistol. That's faulty logic. You are the one who doesn't want to see that and you were speaking on behalf of people who didn't ask you to speak for them.
      Also, it's absolutely impolite to even make a comment like that. I see videos that I don't like and I just leave them be. I am not asking for suggestions to my channel. Also, I doubt very seriously that if we were standing in front of one another that you would make a statement like that. This is because of courtesy- you don't have it sitting behind a keyboard, but you probably would have it in person.
      In the long run, go make your own video. I don't need or want your critique. As for inviting your comment, I can just as easily delete or ban you from my channel. So, I don't really care what your thoughts are on the video. Hit the thumbs down and kick rocks.

      I have belonged to a shooters' club for many years, and know many shooters who, like myself, enjoy watching gun reviews on TH-cam, including yours. I have yet to run into anyone who enjoys watching a reviewer who begins by showing a gun case (or box), and then proceeds to open it and show us the trigger guard, padlock and paper work. The only things that are of interest to most are items that relate directly to the gun itself -- number of magazines, capacity of magazines, moon clips, etc. Most people who buy guns for the first time -- and I have known many of them -- expect to receive a manual, and that's about all they're interested in. They'll see the other stuff when they visit their gun shop. So I'm not just speaking on behalf of other people, without knowing the expectations (or hopes) of many.
      By the way, I generally enjoy your reviews.
