I copied your brackets as I’ve got roof bars like you as well. One difference is I moved the panel about 150mm more towards the centre to avoid any lost rays from the awning shadow. Probably overkill. Thanks for doing this vid. Awesome job
I also use the HardKorr slimline solar panel on my Pajero. I have a Rhino mesh flat roof rack it fits below the side supports and you really can't tell I have it fitted. I put some rivnuts in the solar panel and flat plate underneath the mesh rack. Sits great. Runs my 50ltr fridge 24/7 matched with the Redarc BCDC1225. I have had my car sit for 7 days straight without starting it and the battery (105ah agm) stayed pretty much fully charged the whole time.
Hey mate! Yeh most definitely. It’s been on well over 6 months now and not a single issue with movement. You could add 3rd rivet if you really wanted to but in my experience it’s not needed. Thanks for watching
Awesome video mate. Will be trying something similar. Random question but how do you go with your 270/180 awning across the racks on the cab AND the canopy?
@@GetCampingOz Thanks so much. Your video was really helpful; now I have the same panel over my BT50 :) Terrible wind noise though. Onto finding a way to make a wind fairing.
Not sure mate but but I’m assuming that there is no loss of current from the panel to the output of the Redarc. I certainly haven’t had any issues keeping up with the fridge.
I've just finished mounting an almost identical set up, and the wind noise has gone from zero to an unbearable whistle...... Vortex bars awning & Tredz were all previously mounted & produced no noise, did you notice an increase in noise when you fitted yours?? if not do you think your light bar is helping to keep the wind noise down..??
Hey Toby, sorry to hear that. I haven’t experienced any wind noise at all. It could be because of light bar at the front stopping the air but I couldn’t say for sure as the light bar was on before the panel. My panel is mounted pretty far back with only a little of the leading edge past the vortex bar. I have heard that small gaps will cause the whistle so maybe try blocking any gaps between the panel and the bar up with rubber? Cheers
Thanks for sharing. I just ordered this exact same panel. Did you say it didn’t come standard with the brackets? I know you made your own but wondering if I need to order the hardkorr bracket’s separately. Thanks mate
Thanks mate. I picked my up from AutoBarn, but most good places that sell roof racks sell them. They are all pretty much the same between brands. Cheers Adam
Im not familiar with the Engel battery boxes. Im assuming they have either an anderson connection or a merit plug. It would just be a matter of matching the connection to either the box or the panel. Thanks for watching
You need to make sure you have a solar regulator. With this system he has a redarc charger which has one inbuilt which is why he can plug the panel straight in.

That’s awesome. I’m super happy with the panel. I now don’t have to worry about the fridge being on now - so it just stays on. Thanks for watching 😀
Good to hear mate I’m thinking of pretty much the same setup for mine
Awesome video. Easy to follow and understandable, thanks for posting
no problems mate! Glad you enjoyed
Stellar install mate we’ll done 👌🏽. I think I’m sold on the panel.
Cheers mate. Panel has been great and love how thin it is compared to others.
Nice work, do you feel a though the rivets will be efficient enough to hold it down with wind yeah?

Thanks for your video! Can I ask what's the name of that yellow thing you use to fish the wire through the grommet?
Thanks. It’s a cable puller commonly known as yellow tongue. It’s used to join sheet flooring together. Comes in different widths.

I will ask around:
Is 'Korr' lighting owned by Hard Korr lights?
Thankyou, Robertt
Hi Robert, yes that’s Korr-ect! Thanks for watching
@@GetCampingOz 🤣cheers!
Great video may I ask what size rivets and bolts did you use. Thanks in advance.
I just used a 4mm rivet and the bolts are an 8mm bolt that have a T slot nut for the roof rack channel. Cheers
@@GetCampingOz thank you for replying, appreciated.
Is the amp rating you mentioned coming out of the panel at the panel voltage or is that after the red arc and what’s actually going into the battery?
Not sure mate but but I’m assuming that there is no loss of current from the panel to the output of the Redarc. I certainly haven’t had any issues keeping up with the fridge.

Thanks for the tip..... Cut a pool noodle in half, filled the gap.....almost zero noise now...... Cheers 👍

Thanks for watching. Yes you will need to make your own brackets or purchase some for it. I believe Hardcore sell these separately. Cheers Adam
Did you put any of the rubber stripping from the centre of the roof racks under the panel?
Only what comes with the rail - it’s like a T mould section.
@@GetCampingOz ok so just cut a piece of the t moulded rubber out where the brackets secure to the rail?
@@PeskyEmu yeh mate just on that section
Thanks mate, I have a BT50 with a very similar set up to yours, videos have been very helpful
@@PeskyEmu no worries mate 👍🏻
Hey mate love the video very helpful! One question where can I find those bolts that slide into the track?
Thanks mate. I picked my up from AutoBarn, but most good places that sell roof racks sell them. They are all pretty much the same between brands. Cheers Adam
Just bought the panel and will copy bracket design..how are the poprivets holding up ?
No issues what’s so ever. Still as strong as the day they were installed.
Hi, was the wire grommet already installed or did you put that in yourself?
The grommet is already there. You will just need to poke the wire through. Thanks for watching
Thanks for the video mate, how do you do the connection if you're connecting it to an Engel Battery box? thanks mate

Great vid but a bit more explanation and footage in the bracket fab and pop rivet work would have been appreciated!
Noted! Thanks for watching :)
Hi mate did the MC4 to Anderson plug come with the panel?
Hey mate, no it needs to be purchased separately. Would have been nice if it did. Cheers
how did you go with the real output of the panel on full sun?
The panel has been awesome and getting pretty much the stated output. Definitely recommend
Great video mate , How has the panel performed over the past 2 years
Thanks mate. Panel has been awesome. Provided plenty of power to support the fridge. Definitely a worthy mod I’ll be doing on my new rig.
Thanks for that
Very nice. ...arms 😝
Thanks for the video. I got those too for my van 😊
Glad you like them! 😉😜
Hey mate, how is the panel going?
Yeh good mate. Haven’t had any issues at all and battery always seems to be fully charged
Great video bud.
Thanks mate!
Can we put these solar panel all EV cards and ev buses
Im not sure they will help with recharging to quickly. If its a small battery it should be fine
@@GetCampingOz in which country you live I want to work with you
Do you want to make me some of these brackets 🤣🧐
😂😂 they are pretty easy to knock up. Just some 20x20 3mm angle cut at 45’s on each end!
🤣 I can pay you 🤷♂️. Nah I'll give it a crack. Neat job on them though I like it.
