@@AT4Walso if you do the Re uploaded version of Spd I can imagine you saying we cut to 2025 in new tech city were aliens 👽 and humans co exist but it hasn’t happened in real life.
You did a fantastic job with this franchise, Simon. While you may no longer be an active part of it, you always will be for the fans. And as cheesy and geeky as it may be to say this, I will say it anyway: May the power protect you, always. 🙂
It feels really bizarre to finally be caught up with HOPR when the actual fate of the franchise is in question in real time. I've been watching these since Middle School and even after getting my Master's last year, it's been a pleasure to be along for the ride.
It's not in question anymore though as there is confirmation from certain sources that a reboot is happening but they haven't given very many details about it yet, heck it was already confirmed to have been delayed to 2025 due to the writers strike.
I just hope we get a new season I hope they do a season based on The animal theme super Sentai season I forgot the name of it but it was an anniversary season when it had all the animals I forgot the name of that season
david yost specifically asked them NOT to make billy gay or bi as he felt that would be insulting to just retroactively apply his sexuality to the characters
To Linkara I don't know if it's still on Twitter but I remember a while back, David Yost was asked a question about Billy's love life and David said that Billy was straight in the show. David said that him and Billy are separate. He didn't think it was right to rewrite his character to refect this personal life due to Billy having female love interests in the past seasons. I got a respect for that. It really shows how much he adored his character and Power Rangers. Billy was always my favorite character growing up. I am very happy. It made me angry the reasons he had to leave the show
Reminds me of George Tekei cause he said much the same. He as a person and Sulu are separate people and Sulu is a ladies man while Tekei himself is gay.
It also shows just a general sense of maturity cause yes, David and Billy are separate. David plays Billy but he Isn't Billy. Some actors specially ones that only get a few big rolls get really attached to them and the character being one and the same.
With all due respect to Yost, and I do respect him a lot: That's bullshit, Billy is gay to me. This is going to sound stupid, but as a closeted queer child watching reruns of MMPR, Billy was kinda my childhood crush. I always identified with and loved the nerdy characters, and finding out years later that Yost is actually gay and being able to, in my mind, reflect that on the character was amazing for me. Until we see an adult Billy in a relationship with a woman, people can believe whatever they want. And I'm going to believe that he's gay.
Honestly I think that is admirable. Sometimes actors can't seperate the character and themselves. So I applaud him from that. And just because Billy isn't gay or bi doesn't mean other great characters can be.
@@Tony-Down-Under yeah given the circumstances of his exit I don’t think many would’ve blamed him had he gone with Billy being gay or bi but I like how they kept him being striaght
@skibot9974 I just love him more as an actor now. He clearly loves the character and treats it as a different person. Like you said it would have been easy for him to say I am the character and I billy is gay. But it takes a talented and professional actor to seperate the 2.
I'm reminded of how Goerge Takei was disappointed that Sulu was shown to have a husband in Star Trek Beyond. Granted, that's an alternate universe/timeline separate from TOS, but it's still interesting to see.
I think the most impactful element of the final conflict with Zedd is that it was an ideological battle of Ego vs Selflessness and that theme seems to be baked into the show. What ultimately defeated Zedd is the realization that to achieve everything he wanted he would not be able to enjoy it himself and that is why he gave up the power of the Masters. I have no idea if it was intentionally hinted at by having one of the villains that Zedd would often be in scenes with be a literal preening egomaniac when the more likely reason for her inclusion was "lol Gen Z amirite" but from jokes often come the deepest lore as we say over in the Type Moon community. Contrast with Zayto constantly using the power of the Masters knowing that doing so was killing him, not for acclaim but because he was helping people for its own sake.
I really like that reading! In turn, it factors into the relationship between Ollie and Zedd. I got strong “narcissistic parent” vibes from Zedd’s interactions with Evil Ollie; “I love what I see of myself in you.” Think like Ozai and Azula in Airbender. That has two important implications: 1. Dr. Lani Akana figures out how the spell works and how to break it, replacing the bad dad with a good mom, and 2. from his time in Lord Zedd’s court, Ollie understands how Zedd sees the world, and is able to interpret Zayto’s ultimatum into a form Zedd will find agreeable. Come to think of it, parent/child relationships are a recurring pattern in Dino and Cosmic Fury. Amelia’s biological parents are the villains who let go of evil upon reuniting with her. Tarrick and Santaura’s redemption is highlighted by the fact that they are having a baby: symbolic new life corresponds to a literal birth. Ollie has Lani “Hurt my son and I will obliterate you and everything you’ve ever loved” Akana. Javi struggles to have his dad understand him, while Izzy is the golden child.
Here's another idea. Bring back Master Vile. And have him refer to Thrax as a "worthless grandson" while confirming he sent the bugger back in time so Rita & Zedd could focus on their evil plans (Have him say he had a forcefield on hand to explain why the Z Wave didn't affect him as an explanation for why he's still around)
I particularly loved that it came just before Hekyl showed up, causing me to say _exactly_ what he said about about him but about Dr. K seconds before seconds before he said it... ...and then again about Hekyl exactly _as_ he said it. I mean Dr. K's... Dr. K so I didn't say it with _as_ much gusto the second time but but I did always have a soft spot for the villains from Dino Charge.
@@truckercowboyed2638Not really ALL their time. Usually more like once or twice a day for like a half hour or so. They still had time to do other stuff
Snizzard definitely gets the best line in Once and Always, I'm paraphrasing from memory here. Min: "You killed my mom!" Snizzard: "We work or an interdimensional evil sorceress. I'm going to need you to be a little more specific!"

On my first date with my now wife, what did we talk about? Power rangers. We even saw the reboot movie in theaters together. This franchise has a special place in my heart. Been a fan as far back as MM in the 90s. Hope it continues. May the power protect us all
Concerning Heckyl being called the Dark Ranger, that is how all the Dino Charge Rangers are referred as - by their energem color. Heckyl uses the dark energem, so he is the Dark Ranger.
Even then, it's also a bit of wordplay when you think about it. What color is the Dark Energem? Dark Bluish/Purplish, and guess what color leads into that that they just so happened to have? Navy, which is a 'Dark' Blue. Lol
One detail I really loved regarding Amelia was how in the first three episodes, her Jacket got darker over time and closer to Red, signifying that she would become the leader but also that she was stepping up more each episode
@@ChazzDiBianco Neat? Yes. Does she deserve it? No. She is just so... out of character, I mean her character was terrible to begin with but this made it inconsistent. Honestly, the best way to have Zedd say "Billy" would have been to have him do it mockingly. As though hes still the same teenager from all those years ago.
Fun fact! The existential crisis wasn't a Linkara bit, it was Lewis actually having his imposter syndrome shattered and the crushing weight of his influence finally realized.
@@bigkidal It's mostly been on the community. He's responsible for some reinterpretations of how good seasons were and created a few memes. The relevant one is "Too much Pink energy is dangerous", which Kat referenced in Once a Ranger. So picture this: you're an uberfan of the show, make a meme out of one goofy line, and then a decade later, the show includes a nod to the meme.
I actually had the chance to talk with a representative from Hasbro during the preproduction of Dino Fury, and among the things they and I talked about, I was informed of another reason behind the choice not to adapt Kyuranger. In addition to the massive cast of rangers, another problem was that, according to this individual, some of the suits were actually so dangerous, for example the pointed visor on yellow's helmet, that the insurance company that covers the production of PR wouldn't allow them for safety reasons.
Actually that makes sense. I Mena some of those suits, aside from looking different from each other, DO have a few pieces that look like they would be a hassle to Have on.
My theory about the arm: The reason the Morphing Grid does things like age up a child and get rid of the snout is that the rangers still need the added protection. If it can sense that his arm is strong enough to operate on its own, there's no reason to waste energy covering it up, meaning the rest of his suit can be a bit stronger.
Nice theory my theory was on the same line except instead the power ranger suit connects with the robotic arm and enhances it further along with giving it a protection and a kinda barrier so no one puts two and two together and figures who he is under the mask
I'm guessing Billy never saw Justice League Unlimited because his plan to resurrect Zordon was just like Lex Luthor's effort to bring back Brainiac, only for it to work just as well.

I kinda love the line of "but he plays guitar with both arms" it really struck me at that moment that these are teenagers who just saw somebody lose a limb and have to reconcile that his life will absolutely never be the same. It's like you made very clear, this is territory that Power Rangers has never stepped into before and they handled it with a lot of maturity imo
Can't say I blame the writers for going with TomKat over TomKim. Catherine Sutherland's the one who comes back for these specials, not Amy Jo. Might as well lean into the ship whose actors are available.
@@TheBandit025Nova Once and Always was written and filmed before Jason David Frank died, though obviously they were able to include tributes to him in post-production, so It can't have been a factor in Amy Jo Johnson's decisions. The TomKat is almost certainly due to Catherine Sutherland agreeing to come back while Johnson doesn't.
The reason Billy isn't gay or bisexual in the canon is because actor David Yost stated that he as the actor is gay, not the character Billy. I respect that choice.
I never understand this current obsession with retro-fitting a character to the actor this way Sulu in Star Trek Miranda in And Just Like That Wanda in Umbrella Academy Both characters who were clearly heterosexual in the original series and then in the reboot/sequel series suddenly they are made to be gay simply because the actor is gay (Wanda being trans simply because Elliot Page is now trans). It comes across as seriously pandering. I hugely respect David Yost for resisting that trend for sake of continuity.
I started watching History of Power Rangers when I was 8 years old in 2010, now I am 21 years old and it's rather funny that this retrospective started because Linkara wanted to talk about a series from his childhood, yet now HOPR itself is a distinct part of my childhood and I'm sure many others. This retrospective has always been a comfort series for me. I've rewatched/ listened to these videos over and over again throughout all these years and will continue to do so. I love HOPR and I will always cherish it. Thank you Lewis for all the hard work and effort that you put into these videos, I for sure as hell do not take it for granted.
this is so real. i started in 2018 (which is when he started reuploading/ remaking HOPR). i started watching him bc i wanted to know other people’s opinions on each season of the show, bc besides me and my brother, i didn’t know anyone who kept up with power rangers post-samurai. now i have a lot of nostalgia for this series
Well ... now that the series is supposedly over for the time being; maybe it's time for your true calling: Atop The Fourth Wall episodes of the Boom Studios Power Ranger story arcs.
Pretty surprised there hasn't been a patreon episode on Boom PR yet. Sure there was JL/PR but that was its own thing using Boom as an aesthetic inspiration. Boom PR by this point is sure to have produced a fair amount of bad comics too if he wants to do it without patreon.
Reason he hasn't done any is because Patreons cannot request them. remember, Lewis said he has size-limits on what people can choose for reviews, and events and longer storylines basically go above that scope most of the time. I think the only way for Boomstudios stuff to appear is if he does another event comics month and allows non Marvel or DC stuff on the poll.
Technically, he’s not done, because in Korea, super Sentai is marketed as power rangers. And in Korea, the kyoryuger adaptation was so popular, there was an exclusive sequel series in Korea called “power rangers Dino force brave”. Do I think he will cover what was in Korea, no, but I do hope.
1:05:00 My headcanon is that the same way everyone who got corrupted with the Sporix Energy got healed by exposure to good memories, Mucus being indestructible means she had enough time to do explore other interests and make happy memories instead of spending all her awake time fighting (which she basically avoided anyway). I'd like to think it inspired Morphing Master Zayto to start a rehabilitation clinic dimension where the other Sporix where safely encouraged to take up non-destructive hobbies. Like origami or spin class.

The thing with Zedd is this isn't entirely the same Zedd as we last saw in C2D. Reghoul revived him "from when he was at his most evil", which kinda implies this is sort of a past Zedd from before MMPR. He probably did his homework and learned about Billy but hasn't met gim before from his POV.
@@StarWolf5298Personally I like the idea that the Zedd who was revived was basically the cast off Evil from the Z-Wave. Just like how Rita was brought back. Especially since he explicitly "revived" him and didn't just pluck him out of the past.
I know it wasn't intentional, but this episode came the same day we had to put our 18 year old cat down. So, thank you for giving me something to smile about, and may the power protect you.
I still remember how painful it was to put my dog down. I know your pain. Just remember, no matter what happens you have the memories you’ve made with your cat, and that will help you.
Because Tzachor lost his touch. Honestly being a fan of Vrak, I could totally see him trying a reverse Z wave out of pure spite in a better written show. He should've been the final boss like in the Sentai given Mavro didn't really deliver on that front.
The whole bit about their cover as a band, hired by the ceo lady, being blown because doing nice things not sounding like ceo behavior has got to be one of my favorite moments in the franchise
When Javi's sister makes mention of the fact that Javi needs both arms to play guitar, its not underselling or whatever Javi's situation, its supposed to reinforce the notion that something that that character loved and was passionate about along with so many other things important to that character is now going to change and is now fundamentally different from before. I am speaking as someone that lost part of my left leg to cancer a year ago, so I am actually really happy that Power Rangers of all shows decided to have one of the main characters go through the trauma of losing a limb as well as try to adapt to using an artificial limb. granted we don't really see him breaking down and having outbursts, but let me break down my experience. when I went into surgery, the hope was to SAVE my leg. unfortunately, when i was transferred to another hospital apparently it was too late to save my leg, they said if I had gotten there sooner they would have been able to. anyway, when I woke up from surgery and was told they had to amputate to save my life, yes I did have a moment of despair at the unfairness of the situation. But I also realized that shedding tears over the situation was not going productive. I realized that no amount of tears I shed, no amount of lashing out at people over the unfairness of my situation was going to help change anything. no amount of tears shed was going to make my leg magically grow back. The important thing for me was to accept the reality of my situation and learn to adapt and not feel sorry for myself. You know what that is called? its called internal strength, its called pragmatism. Yes, I know that not everyone has that same reservoir of internal strength to deal with their unfortunate circumstances, but again, what would be the purpose of wallowing in self loathing and self pity when there are important things that need to be done that require me to get back on my feet, to get healthy and get my life back on track? I'm really happy with Cosmic Fury, although i do wish it had been longer at 20 episodes, heck, they could have split the season in half with a mid season cliffhanger and then resume later on to finish off the show.
Been around since Ninja Storm, so I'm a newer fan than some others. But yeah, if this is the last series in the original timeline (which I highly doubt given RPM and Ninja Storm both being attempted reboots) then it ended on a high note for me personally. I'm almost 26 now, way over the show's target audience but I don't care. Like giant robots and explosions, like yeah that's never not going to be cool. So thanks Lewis, for keeping this series going and sharing your love for the franchise and if this is the end of HOPR, thanks for taking us on the ride.
I'm sincerely hoping that this isn't the final HOPR video. Not because I thought that this was bad, or unworthy or anything else... but because I enjoy it. This series has, weirdly, been my main way of engaging with the franchise. Hell, I've been watching THIS series longer than I spent watching the actual series (I stopped at the switch from Mighty Morphin to Zeo). But if this is the final episode of it... then thank you Linkara. Thank you for the countless hours you've spent watching, writing, filming, and editing this series. It brought the franchise back into my mind, and made me interested in it. I picked up the Power Rangers RPG because of this series, and it's been a blast so far. I've also wanted to check out the comics.
There's visual proof in the shows that Once & Always happens before at least Cosmic Fury. When Billy calls the CF Rangers from the Command Center in one of the later episodes, you can see the crack in the tube from O&A behind him.
@@SegaSky Billy’s reaction at the end. How the Mighty Morphin Yellow Ranger reacted when they mentioned Zordon. Billy never mentions Robo Rita or Trini’s death nore acts like she just died.
That... actually makes a lot of sense. One can get used to using a false limb without actually fully accepting it as part of oneself. Heck, it's something most people deal with on the regular with something as simple as having to wear glasses. I tried to resist it at first when I started using them over a decade ago and it was only 6 years ago I accepted them as part of who I am when I realised I didn't think much whenever I put them on, I just do it.
My thought was maybe the arm is already so powerful it doesn’t need the protection that the Ranger suit would provide? Or perhaps it’s made out of morphing grid attuned metal so the morpher “reads” that part of him as already being suited up?
In the wake of finishing the Cosmic Fury video, I went back to past videos, and reaching Super Megaforce with its opening invasion is mystifying in the sheer difference of quality. Cosmic Fury in a limited 10 episodes and budget was able to accomplish what Megaforce in 40 episodes and a big budget could not.
it just highlights how goddamn awful and kinda insulting those two seasons from over ten years ago were, esp. compared to these Hasbro seasons (even with the future of Power Rangers as a whole -- comics aside -- in flux).
@@DasNordlicht91in fairness to megaforce, they could have made that work if they took a different approach. But there’s no excuse for how lame and lacking the seasons felt. I actually would have been fine with them trying to use some of the gokaiger footage from series adapted into power rangers series, but to just use all the footage without any care for continuity felt insulting like you said! Plus, the fact that Cosmic fury did all this with limited use of sentai footage makes the final product even more impressive!
As someone who loves this franchise and has watched your recaps since the very beginning, thank you Linkara for all the time and effort you have put into these videos. Crazy to think I was in college when this series first came out, not long before Power Rangers Samurai was announced and at a time when Power Rangers seemed to be over. And yet, 14 years later (I turn 34 this year), here we are, surreal! I still can’t believe how quickly you used to get these videos out, to the point where in retrospect I am glad the output slowed down for the sake of your mental health! And yet, the quality of these videos has only gotten better over time! Also I was bullied a lot in elementary school and most of it started because of my love for power rangers, to hell with the haters, this franchise still kicks ass!
Thank you, Lewis, for making this series. When I first found HOPR, I was a dorky teenager lamenting the fact that I was being made fun of for still liking this franchise, warts and all. But it was thanks to your retrospectives (as well as the massive boom of social media) that i was able to find a community of like-minded individuals who also held this show, and Tokusatsu in general, in their hearts the way i do. While the show that I've watched since 1993 may be over, my appreciation for it, and fans like you for producing content surrounding it, will live on forever. God bless you, good sir, and may the Power protect you forevermore
1. I was head banging to Javi's Lord Zedd song. 2. As for Hasbro going with TomKat, as much as I hate it, Soul of the Dragon is considered canon to the Prime universe. That said, there is an entire multiverse. Absolutely nothing is stopping things from playing out the same but with Tomberly in one of those universes
I mean, heck, the 2 of them literally cameo in The Power Rangers Movie. For all we know, those are THAT world's version of them, not the ones we know checking in to keep an eye on that universe's Rangers to make sure they're ready
I agree with you about previous Rangers being retired. During the power transfer in Turbo, Zordon does tell them he didn't want them to spend their whole lives being rangers. He wanted them to live a normal life. Also, as for Snizzard, I thought of two different possibilities: they might have hoped to get his original voice actor, Bryan Cranston, in some stunt casting, but it fell through. Or, it was a joke and they figured people would Google Snizzard and find out who voiced him in the original season.
He also told them that before Kimberly left the team for the Pan Global Games. Though I thought Dimertria was the one who told them that in Turbo just minutes before the cast change. Since Zordon while present in the episode was no longer the mentor by that point.
I share your same sentiments on multiple things you touched upon: 1. The Cosmic Fury suits are awesome, both the Dino Fury and Cosmic Fury suits are equal in my opinion but the series proved that sometimes less is more 2. After listening to your comments about how Trini’s death was handled in Once and Always, I respect and agree with them showing it given that it was handled with such gravity (I initially didn’t like that they showed it since the actress passed away so I thought it was tasteless). 3. That part about the “Too much pink energy is dangerous” meme had me dying laughing” 4. The way they “defeated” Zedd. I didn’t really think when initially watching the show how it was actually such a big deal to get Zedd, the Emperor of Evil, to give up power. 5. The whole plan at the end of the “Zedd Wave” and how Power Rangers’ final villain is essentially greedy corporations themselves, which is exactly what Hasbro is, that was actually a genius move by the writers!! Also, Loved Zedd’s demeanor for some things, particularly him being annoyed and confused by the streamer/Gen-Z daughter 😂😂
@@Jokie155 All his dialogue like that “I am… so confused… and so old,” “agreed,” “What… NO it’s a Z, Z for Zedd,” i absolutely loved, it game Zedd an extra layer of relatableity… and I’m Gen Z myself and I hate my generation 😂
The idea that Squillia wasa present but paying zero attention to any of the villainous meetings had me doubled over in laughter. I love the idea that she was simply that vapid and dumb.
I legitimately cried listening to your outro. Power Rangers in one of the first shows I remember watching as a child and over time have fallen back in and out of love with the franchise. However your reviews and retrospective were always videos I looked forward to regardless of whether I like the season or not. I hope the series continues but won't hate it if it gets rebooted. @@hollyredmond8688 Yes, haters gonna hate, but that does not excuse the absolutely horrendous behavior. And as we've seen in so many popular franchises, there's a huge difference between acting critical and acting like a jerk.

Some comments: 1. The funny thing about Zack adopting Minh is that Zack and Trini in the comics (one that established why Kimberly sent that stupid Dear John Letter to Tommy in Zeo) apparently reunited with Kimberly in Florida at one point and it was revealed that the two of them hooked up. I guess it didn't end up working out, but nice to see they were still close enough to keep being friends and for Zack to adopt Trini's now orphaned daughter 2. Space Patrol Alpha...so did they get the name from what Cruger was doing since he established that he and the other warriors of Sirius were the ones who established SPD, or did he take it from them as his part of the galaxy, and there were secretly a Space Patrol Beta and Charlie that we don't know about? 3. My theory is that Leo, Damon, and Kai were the first three Galaxy rangers to respond to the Bandora Protocol, hence why they were on Earth...and why they got captured. 4. I think the way they handled Trini's death being implemented into the story was at least a way of helping her go out the way you mentioned before with death in comics, with them going out swinging. Also it does prove Lothor's stupid point from Ninja Storm: A ranger can only lose their power and die while morphed. After all, we saw that with Kendrix in Lost Galaxy and now we see it here. 5. A squid drill? Oh no, she's going to bring about the apocalypse that created Splatoon! 6. I'm guessing that since the season was essentially a 10-episode continuation (and would end up being the last one before a complete reboot that was likely sped along to fruition due to the two major Hollywood strikes), they didn't adapt Kyuranger because they wanted more American footage, both as a celebration of where Power Rangers has come as a 30th Anniversary season, AND as part of the mindset they had with In Space, where they decide to do more American stuff since it's not like they'll be doing anything in this mainline continuity anyway. 7. The way dramatic moments are handled feels like the problem with the show not deciding if it specifically wants to be for kids or if it wants to be for long-time adult fans while being family-friendly. Which is a shame when RPM managed to handle that mix perfectly. 8. I think I get why the robotic arm stayed on Javi even while he's morphed compared to others: It's not what his body originally had when it morphed. A small design change like Izzy ripping off her skirt is one thing, but an entire missing limb that wasn't there and has been replaced with something new? The Morphin Grid doesn't know how to handle that, so it thinks the arm isn't there. It could also be that since it was caused by the pedestal and the Morphin Master staff (both of which are connected to the Morphin Grid), it thinks Javi's Arm missing is the right thing, but since the arm is still attached to him through cybernetics, the arm stays regardless. 9. Oh boy, a bunch of Star Trek references. I know you're planning on doing a big Doctor Who retrospective, but I feel like you're setting us up for a Star Trek retrospective too with how many are being thrown in here. 10. Yeah, the clip of Zed requesting the Squidrills focusing on the Dinohenge base really highlights the flaws with Tatasciore's voice for Zed. I think the big issue is that Fred Tatasciore typically voices with a deeper pitch. He's typically well known for voicing characters like Hulk (and by-the-by, he's also the voice for the iconic announcer from Quake and Unreal Tournament), so someone who has a mid-range voice like Zed's is a little out of his range. 11. "That's quite a downgrade from Dinosaur" I mean the Dino woman would obviously be biased towards that fact, but she's not entirely wrong? I say that who loves wolves and dogs. 12. 45:12 I was confused what that sound was. Sounds like something shook inside your recording booth. 13. Eh, to be fair, Zed needs a regular recharge to his power ever 1 Million Years, so of course he's probably starting to feel old seeing the new monsters partying like he used to. 14. "But earth suuuuuuucks!" I mean, given the cool things that people like Andros, Taizon, and all the other alien forces are able to do, WITHOUT needing to tap into an interdimensional force of power, yeah that checks out. Also it's surprising that they let 'sucks' be used as a word on a kids show of all places 15. Okay I don't follow discourse on Power Rangers, but looking at the suits, all I can say is...people disliked these things? They look neat! It looks like an upgrade to me, actually, at least as far as thematics go. The original Dino Fury outfits looked incomplete, like a desperate mix of Rafkonian armor combined with the power of the dinosaurs. Then, since Billy is the one creating the power source and the suits, it's like he took everything he learned from the grid and previous ranger designs, including Tommy's old Green Ranger outfit and the Turbo suits (even kinda hinting once again that he made them) and made them full and complete. I love it! 16. "Monster Thrash Metal Band" is one of those combinations of words that you only ever really hear because of Power Rangers, alongside "Ancient Ninja Electric Guitar" and "Too Much Pink Energy is Dangerous" 17. Wait...they're stranded on a desert planet that's got giant worms as the native species? SOMEONE'S a big fan of Dune in the writing team, aren't they? If any of the Rangers mention spice, I'm considering it confirmed 18. The difference between you and Ollie though is that Ollie's doing it for evil, while you're doing it for good 19. Oh cool, we finally get an actual official "Orange Ranger", moreso than what Kat had in SPD 20. "I see myself more as a...shadowy menace" Oh...OOOOOOOOH! A shame no one on Zedd's team has a flamethrower, because they might need to do a spy check. *minutes later* I KNEW IT! I FREAKING KNEW IT! 21. Honestly I think the "Dark Ranger" outfit is fine. It works with the whole Dark Energem itself being the source, and Dino Charge already had a black ranger. Blue itself is a versatile color by comparison, so it makes his outfit's color distinct from Koda and James 22. My guess is that Dino Charge (and maybe RPM too) were some of the Rangers that were captured by Zedd's forces? I guess I'll find out later. 23. Of course: using a staff to make a being grow! Zedd will be completely blindsided by the Rangers using his wife's old strategy against him! 24. Heckyl really took one for the team dealing with Squillia, huh? I guess he's learned a thing or to from good spies of the past 25. Wow, Ollie's still evil when Zedd treated him kindly? I guess someone's been reading the Evil Overlord list in his offscreen time and decided to put Entry 48 into play. Of course Ollie's not a literal beast, so it doesn't work this time 26. You know, the point about SPD's continuity reminds me. With the combination of people like Orion, the Rafkonians, and now the refugees, aliens really HAVE been freely living on Earth for at least 10 years before that season, so...way to predict the future there, Linkara 27. Whoa whoa whoa, a 20-second timer for your countdown? Clearly these villains haven't learned from the best. You need to set your bomb timer for one hour to give the Rangers ample time to defuse the bomb and stop your plan! 28. I just realized: Since Zedd isn't the same Zedd as in the 90's, does that mean his snake got revived when the staff came back, or is it just a generic staff? 29. I think Zordon being essentially in the afterlife in the void like he is was actually a genius idea. Have one more moment of him that's in the anniversary season heavy with continuity and references without straight up bringing him back to life. It also is a great little bookend of the series' original continuity as well. Zordon gave the powers to the original team we started with, and now gives powers to the final team to help them save the universe. 30. And there we go. 30 comments to celebrate 30 years of Power Rangers. I remember watching this retrospective series back in 2011, back when your most recent video in the retrospective was on Dino Thunder. It got me back into remembering this series when I was a kid, wanting to know what happened in the other seasons and series that I knew nothing about other than the names and outfits, and it even inspired me to make retrospectives of my own on franchises I loved. Heck, History of Power Rangers is the reason I became a fan of yours in the first place, vaguely knowing anything about you back during the days of that OTHER site you used to work for other than seeing you in crossovers, so I started watching your work as a result. If this is the final History of Power Rangers thing you do that's not just a refurbished version of your older videos, than I'd say it's a great way to send off this retrospective series. I hope at some point you're able to make these retrospectives for other works you're a fan of like Doctor Who, because I know you'd probably make bank on those videos as well. Godspeed with your other projects, Lewis, including Atop the Fourth Wall, and may the power protect you.
Honestly, when people can come back as "Morphin Grid Force Ghost", the villains saying they will "destroy" the Rangers makes them sound Eviler. I always felt the word "Destroy" was more like, "I'm going to erase their very essences out of existence!"
Perhaps, I guess it depends on the line. Lines like "You could've been destroyed" sound off to me but "I'll destroy you" sounds good. But overall, I think it's a net positive@@Knight41b
I'm no English major, but I think this has to do with etymology. Generally, we use 'destroy' to refer to things, whether that's a physical object or a concept. So, when a villain says they're "Going to destroy the Power Rangers!" we automatically understand that as meaning the team/concept/legacy. If they're talking to a specific person and say "I'm going to destroy you" it could be that their dehumanizing them or maybe that they want to do worse than kill them. But rarely does someone use 'destroy' when talking about a person they care about who's life was threatened, only when something about them like their reputation or pride is. So, when the heroes say to each other "you could have been destroyed" it sounds weird to our ears because that makes it sound less serious than "you could have been killed."
Dude, ever since I saw the special I was curious what your reaction to the ‘too much pink energy’ line was. Turns out too much fan service is also dangerous. XD That moment is one of many reasons that, should this be the last HOPR episode, then it's a glorious note to end on.
If this ends up being the last HoPR then this was a heckuva series. I never grew up with this series, as a kid I had one of those comics that adapated the movie but used shots from the film instead of drawn art and thus wrote it off for a large part of my childhood. The first time I really saw the series was through this series back in the original set of videos that are sadly no longer around due to various reasons you've gone into before. This series really opened my eyes to what I missed out on as a kid and helped to give me more of an interest not just in Power Rangers but in Sentai and tokusatsu in general. While I still haven't fully watched a series I have checked out a bit of Rpm, Jetman, and both Kamen Rider and Kamen Rider Black because of this series. While I know there are still the reuploads to look forward to if this is the endpoint of the series I'd say it went out on a high note, but if there is more to come I'll be seated. Kudos on this project you started because you got nostalgic for a silly show about people in colorful outfits fighting rubber monsters, it was great ride and here's to whatever comes next.
It's wild that I've watched HOPR from the start. 2 moves, some job changes, family loss. The hosting of HOPR on several websites. All this happened to me as this series came out. And here we are... Possibly the end of an era. What a wild ride it has been. The laughs, the treats, the tears, the confusion, the memes. Wherever this goes, we'll be here. Wherever this goes, most importantly: Thank you for all the hard work Linkara. May the power protect you, always. EDIT: I just relized that having Zordon Zee's wave and Zed's potential Zed wave also gives us one final call back. Remember when Zed mentioned that the morphing grid was maintained by their conflict? What better way to put an end to conflict like that then having the antagonist not destroyed, but surrender? It might take centuries for Zed to reform. So, if what Zed said had any weight, this keeps him around, preserves thr grid, and puts a final bow on all of this. Heck, it even gives Zordon, assuming that it's his spirit or what have you is what helped them, falls back into his original idea as a wizard.
I really enjoyed once and always, especially with loads of Easter eggs which rewarded long term fans. I howled at the pink energy line, I couldn’t wait to hear your thoughts on it. I also enjoyed the fact that the magnet was connected to a crane, which Kat used, finally fulfilling her destiny from S3 of using the crane Zord. What I find amusing about Dino fury v cosmic fury is that they had to turn a 20 episode series into a 40 and then a 20 into a 10 and honestly, bar some underdeveloped points as you noted, it was pretty seamless. The writers and showrunner clearly had a solid vision for the show and I’m sorry to hear Bennett is no longer involved. I hope we see more from both PR and HOPR cause I love these reviews. Thanks Linkara for the work you’ve put in over the years. Love from a fellow nineties kid ❤
I think it was a missed opportunity to make the Zenith ranger a more beige/champagne colour rather then making him a silver ranger to play off his friendship with Aiyon
The concert ending felt like a nice throw back to Dino Thunder's end(one of my personal favorite seasons) and also seeing the Galaxy Megazord in action again(although briefly) made the little kid me jump for joy(Lost Galaxy is my favorite season). Here's to 30 years of goofy greatness
That extra little piece with Zordon at the very end, and Zedd actually having potential to be a good guy was awesome stuff. I'm happy they did things they did with Cosmic Fury.
The Boom Studios comics establish a backstory for Zedd where he is an Eltarian and Zordon's predecessor (and mentor) as Supreme Guardian of the universe, but he's disfigured by the Zeo Crystal after he tries to utilize it in a show of force and falls into villainy. I can't help but wonder if the Cosmic Fury writers had that in mind.
Part of me thinks the reason why Snizzard specifically was brought back was because they were probably hoping they could get Bryan Cranston to reprise the role.
Tbh I don’t even think it was to get him back to voice Snizzard. I think it was more for the deep cut reference of “lol it’s Minecraft zordon”. Garzilla got a point… but still… we could have gotten king sphinx and pumpkin rapper… it would’ve been better that way imo
@@Garzilla97it’s no accident they had figures of Snizzard and The Minotaur in the Lightning Collection out around the time of this special. I think that even extended to the captured Rangers we see corresponding (for the most part) with figures that were in the line.
once and always is honestly, a good anniversery reuninon, he gives the same feels like seeing old friends at a high school or collage reunion, catching up on them, and it feels like something new fans and old fans of PR can sit down and watch together, i do wish they showed a bit more of the other power rangers answering the call to action, but its not a renuion for them, like what you said about SPD and the B Squad vs A Squad
Ok fan fact the comic Amy Jo is writing will feature a character who would have be TomKim daughter. And it is rumored this character is based off JDF irl daughter.
If this is the finale to the original Power Rangers timeline, I got to say, it was one hell of a ride. Also, that bit of Zedd showing off his power had me think this: Izzie: "Is that a giant N?" Zedd: "Who I do look like, Neo Cortex?!"
@@johnnygyro2295 I would've called it Power Rangers Universe (There's an actual fanmade theme song for it). Separate from the main continuity because I don't want to worry about it. No reference to the Grid, no legacy villains, though I would keep Squillia and Bajillia, but I'd just keep them as side villains. Also I'd make Squillia a very open lesbian to her mother's bodyguard (who'd be Madakko's counterpart).
@hollyredmond8688 Oh, you wanted a reboot? If that's the case, there might be one in the works. It would explain why this and previous seasons did things, like bringing back Venjix, as trying to tie up as many loose ends as possible, with Dino Fury/Cosmic Fury as the finale for the main universe. Edit: Also, the Morphin Grid is multiversal, so it'd be weird not to mention it at least once.
Nothing gave me more joy than to see Linkara love the new upgraded suits. I loved them as well! Dino/Cosmic Fury was a great way to cap off 30 years of Power Rangers. Side note: I had a talk with Chance Perez (Javi) at Ranger Stop 2023 and asked him about the lost arm subplot. He actually studied videos of interviews with amputees to get into the mindset of being someone who had that sudden loss. He stated the director didn't want the direction to go TOO dark, but he wanted to convey some level of grief and emotional turmoil. I think he did very well with what was given. Plus, he's such a cool dude in real life. :)
You joke about Dark Pink, but as someone who is color blind I can tell you that I wouldn't have been able to tell if someone hadn't pointed out it actually being red. I certainly never noticed the pterodactyl being red in the original megazord.
And then I get the immortal question; "I'm not looking at purple am I?" which depending on the shade of purple, does look like red to me, which could also mean it is pink. God cursed me with this. @@francescolombardi3438
So, weird fact about the original Sentai. In the original, uchuu Sentai kyuranger. The red ranger, was named lucky, and he was also the luckiest man in all of Sentai, so lucky that in Zenkaiger, when the gear for kyuranger was used, it just gave the leader a massive luck boost, which caused a fire hydrant to burst which helped him get free of some ropes. No I’m not joking, the only way to describe his luck would be if he committed genocide to a city of leprechauns and snorted their bones. Also in the original Sentai, most of the rangers were not human, the black, gold, and pink rangers were robots. And the blue, purple, silver, and orange rangers were aliens. As well for another weird fact, in the Sentai, the yellow ranger was apparently a good cook.
If they had gone through with Power Rangers Supernova, it would've been so cool if they made most of the team aliens from past series of the show. Maybe a Xybrian or a Triforian, or heck, a Raffkonian. They could've made the Blue Ranger a member of Cruger's species, either from before the genocide, another survivor, or Cruger's kid. Could've been fun.
@@inkmaster5480 problem is how this would affect the timeline. Plus toy costs, costumes. And honestly I think there is an even bigger missed opportunity that would’ve answered a lot of questions about super mega fart. The Sentai only suits, why not say they were zordon’s prototypes, before he found the stable power in the coins. And boom, we have the simple explanation and some fan service
Pretty sure the only human Kyurangers are the second red ranger, Houou Soldier and the sky blue ranger, Koguma Skyblue. I think he might actually be the second male light blue ranger after the first Kyoryu Cyan.
If this the end of HOPR, like the series it documents, it was a fun ride. I was introduced to these videos by someone reuploading your In Space video over a decade ago. Then as time passed I discovered your channel and I slowly got into AT4W. HOPR made me a Linkara fan and I'm thankful for that. I swear I teared up when I finished this video. Not just for HOPR possibly ending but a big chapter of my childhood ending as well. Twice. I love Power Rangers too and I hope to hear you talk about themote in the future either with the reboot or maybe the comics. Tommy and Kim have a daughter so your ship sails in one medium. I loved Cosmic Fury. It wasn't my favourite season and I mostly agree with your points. But as a finale to a franchise that stuck with me my entire life even into adulthood, it was cool cool coolio! ⚡May the power protect us all.⚡
I think that Zedd's hell wasn't rita either, but actually the situation they faced in Zeo, in the caravan. Lost his power, lost his castle, forced to run, basically stranded
Thank you Lewis for sticking around with us to the end of the line for this franchise and video series, whether or not it's the end for both or not. Must admit, I needed rewatching AND this analysis. May not always agree with some stuff, like, if you'll allow me: - the CF suit torsos being bare (though due to whatever material and color they used for it, I ADORE Amelia's shade of red. Being slightly more matte means the color is richer and not affected by the usual sheen), - much of how Kat does serve a big unsung part in Once and Always (I know you are...not a fan of her being Tommy, and I respect that, but I find that works to help her own connection to this special in a couple of ways that did some catharsis for herself) But this did put things in better perspective of being our grand finale. I wish this wasn't, and Hasbro ALSO taking a break from ANY merch does unfortunately sour things quite a lot, but yeah, we could have ended with FAR WORSE notes than this. Wherever we go from here, May the Power protect you!
I had the pleasure and the honor of meeting Steve Cardenas, Jonny Yong Bosch, and David Yost last year. Tremendous people and incredible actors, and I love them all. I was happy to see this reunion. While not perfect, obviously, it was incredible and enjoyable and put a smile on my face. A love letter to my childhood. ❤ Thank you, too, Linkara. It’s been a while since I bumped into you, but I hope you’re well, and I appreciate your hard work with this.
While maybe not given all the weight it should, I felt like Javi working out his aggression through metal - at the expense of the rest of the team's focus - _was_ an indication that he was suffering from his adjustment more than he let on. That to me implies the cast was forced to put on a stoic face (like Ollie's mom) rather than lacking those emotional beats internally. Your mileage may vary on how good an idea that was from a writing standpoint, but only given ten episodes I'd call it a decent compromise.
You know... Rewatching HOPR and some of the seasons, I came to realize, intentional or not, this season brings up the franchise full circle if we take SPD as the chronological end of the franchise, specially for one little detail: After the Z wave, we've seen only two types of antagonists: Alien invaders that likely weren't reached by the Z-wave, or were formed post-Z-wave, and sealed evils, Venjix having the distinction of being one of two man-made evils with Mesogog. There really hadn't been that many evils in that time, Scorpius never went to earth, Ransik came from the future, and the main earth faced no crisis in 2005, 2008, and 2014 with the seasons takin place in alternate earths. And with a large empire like the Armada being taken out, who else is gonna fill that power vaccum than... The private sector! Sledge being a bounty hunter, Galvanax running an underground death game show, and finally Bajillia selling weapons, and with her defeat, who else would be taking over the market than... BROODWING! Giving him 2 years to build up his own business until the troobians arrive in 2025. Like I said, it was probably not intentional, but it just tickles me the right way to see just how everything is set perfectly, and if we look at it from a lore perspective, it means SPD is the culmination of all the ranger teams and lore coming together to set up the ultimate defense. God I love Power Rangers...
@@brandonspencer5594 It was, the year 3000, but I'm sure that future doesn't resemble what we saw given the massive changes the Rangers made in the past. Time travel NEVER makes sense in the cosmology of Power Rangers.
I wished that this season was about 6 to 8 episodes longer, it was a good farewell, and came out in a year which I turned 30, it felt like this series needed to be a slight bit longer to get that farewell to hit a bit harder.
It's kinda interesting seeing how many times Power Rangers has ended over the past few years. In Space ended the Zordon era, Wild Force ended the Saban/Fox Kids era, RPM ended the Disney/Kalish era, and now Cosmic Fury ended the Neo-Saban/Hasbro era and possibly the whole series, up until it gets rebooted. And it's nice to also catch up to this video series as well, even before setting up a YT account.
It’s incredible to be here at the release of one of these, thank you so much Linkara and I’m excited to see how things proceed from here with the series!! Did anyone notice Kat using a crane because she never got to wield the crane Zord, absolutely amazing
16:21 I didn't realize what Suede said in his last video about the awkwardness of internet personalities meeting fans IRL and questioning if they're real was a prelude to Linkara having a mental breakdown about a meme he popularized being officially recognized but here we are.
Huh, I forgot about Bulk and Skull's camera phase until I saw this footage. I remembered reading about it in one of the Power Ranger comics that supposedly happened right after episode 1, where their explanation was some form of apocalypse log in case they were flattened by the next giant monster that appeared.
I appreciate Linkara's even-handedness about the show. Me, I still hate the Cosmic Fury outfits. It was such a waste for Toei to actually work with American studios to design American-friendly Ranger costumes just for Hasbro to design their own from scratch which, to be fair, would've made for far easier toys to produce... only to not produce toys for them. And that's the overall problem with Hasbro's approach to Power Rangers. They don't really seem to care about it outside of it being another property in their portfolio. It's a shame to see Hasbro Pulse streams where the hosts wave off Power Rangers because hey, we gotta talk about Star Wars now. At the very least, care and thought was put into Cosmic Fury's show and Bennet did a damn good job with what he had to work with. But man, did it hurt to see people claim Power Rangers had to "grow out of its Sentai roots" or junk like that, especially since Sentai has given us some absolute bangers in recent seasons like Zenkaiger and DonBrothers. Linkara keeps mentioning "art from adversity" in this episode, and Sentai has done a lot of that: taking its reduced budget on the chin while making great toys with excellent execution and focusing on stronger characters in-show than gimmicks. It's a shame Hasbro couldn't pick up on any of that.
From what I have heard, apparently the person who was big into the purchase of Power Rangers within Hasbro died or something? At least that's part of the speculation that I have heard in regards to Hasbro's handling of Power Rangers
@@oneovertwo1186 It's not that. The reason is most likely tied to Hasbros current implosion. You see, almost all of their brands, be it Transformers, My Little Pony or anything else, are currently severely under performing. All of the big movies they had also tanked, with "Transformers: Rise of the Beasts" just barely making ANY profit while the toyline also fumbled. The only thing which keeps Hasbro basically afloat at the moment is Magic the Gathering - which was basically turned into what some people hoped some certain non-fungible things would've become. Cosmic Fury, by all margins, gives of the impression that hasbro just wanted to ride out it's current contract with Toei, because Power Rangers had the additional problem of not being 100% owned by Hasbro and because it basically was like making a rival to their own toy brand for boys (Transformers), so them pausing the series makes sense, and with bandai out of the picture since 2018 in the west I doubt we get to see anything unless something major changes.
It's a shame because Hasbro has shown with Transformers and G. I. Joe that they can make action series' based on old IPs that are respectful to the original source material while being their own thing.
Linkara, the ending was beautiful. Power Rangers did go out strong. With plenty of what made it good for the past three decades. Again, your videos have gotten me choked up. It has been a huge joy, sir. I watch HOPR multiple times a year. Thank you for bringing analysis, heart, and depth to this franchise. May the Power protect you.
If another series happens, we need kamen rider and ultraman inclusion. Both are popular at times that even America is seeing their series on blu ray/streaming services. Plus, kamen rider has some songs in english. Pretty catchy.
Zayto: "Magic wand, make my Solon grow!" Also, if Hasbro's listening, GIVE ME A FIGURE OF AMELIA AS THE COSMIC FURY RED RANGER! PUT IT IN A TWO-PACK IN THE LIGHTNING COLLECTION WITH LAUREN AS THE RED SAMURAI RANGER, DAMMIT!
Ah if only. Sadly seems like the Tommy Master Morpher was pretty much their last hurrah for Power Rangers toy collectibles. Isn't there something on how the toys are taking a backseat along with the show?
I was 3 when Mighty Morphin Power Rangers first aired and like all 90s kids, it was all we talked about, the toys, the music, the vhs tapes, the games we collected them all. We knew it was goofy, but we didn’t care, we were kids we were goofy. Now I’m 34, I’ve seen a lot. I’ve watched countless other series, become a marvel fanboy, taken a liking to legal dramas, and i never forgot about my childhood and what I watched throughout it. Power Rangers will always hold a specific place in my heart and I hope it has a future for future generations. I hope something that appeases us 90s fans is created in the near future, another movie reboot or animated series or recreation of the original. Also, I always liked Kat and Tommy together more than Kim and Tommy. It always felt like Kat cared about him more. I’m glad they made it cannon, sorry Linkara and all Tommy and Kim shippers.
48:12 YES! THANK YOU! At last, someone else in the universe who, like me, loves the *_Cosmic Fury_* suits! I, too, was _so_ confused by the sheer level of toxic negativity they got, a lot of it _before_ the season had even aired! Seriously, _thank you_ for making me feel no longer alone in my love for them (and the season/series as a whole)! 🙏🏻🥰❤️
Based on what Zordon tells Aiyon about how he's seeing what his mind wants to see while in the Grid, that could explain why the Grid looked like it did in Overdrive. Because Alpha was the one inside of it, he was seeing it from a familiar point of reference: a large, complex piece of technology like the systems he worked back at the Command Center.
There is undisputable evidence that Once & Always takes place after Dino Fury. At the end of Dino Fury, Jane says they're getting ready to open BuzzBlast Angel Grove. Which is obviously what is reporting on the Putties attacking the Juice bar. And she sent Annie from the main BuzzBlast office to work in Angel Grove.
Happens before. The producers confirmed it, we see Zordon't brolen tube, and Minh in a non-talking role. It even proves to Billy, that yes, Zordon is dead and gone forever.
I'm very happy you liked the suits. Great recap!

The fate of the franchise was in question like...pretty much every season
@@Pikachu2AshIt is in question because we have no idea how long it’s going to take or where it’s going to film

Well, for HOPR, there is technically something he has yet to cover, the Korean side of power rangers
david yost specifically asked them NOT to make billy gay or bi as he felt that would be insulting to just retroactively apply his sexuality to the characters
Understandable 😅
Checks out, seperate the actor from the character
You ever notice that some of TV's best ladies men are LGBTQ in real life? Matt Bomer, for example@@SpectacularSpiderFan
I mean George Takei was upset that Star Trek Beyond made Sulu gay because while George is gay, his version of the character wasn't
@@castleoffiction96Hell, just look at Neil Patrick Harris in How I Met Your Mother... He was pretty much the biggest womanizer ever!
To Linkara
I don't know if it's still on Twitter but I remember a while back, David Yost was asked a question about Billy's love life and David said that Billy was straight in the show.
I always loved Billy just being laid back about his lovelife. Like, yeah, girls are cool. But so is being single
It also shows just a general sense of maturity cause yes, David and Billy are separate. David plays Billy but he Isn't Billy. Some actors specially ones that only get a few big rolls get really attached to them and the character being one and the same.
Then there's actors like Casey Kasem who demanded his character conform to his lifestyle and beliefs
22:25 David Yost has stated he’s always considered Billy to be straight saying something along the lines of “I may be gay, but Billy is a ladies’ man”
Honestly I think that is admirable.
Billy has rizz confirmed
"Me personally, I would've brought back the Pumpkin Rapper."

@@Rabbitlord108 I LOVE that! That's a great idea. My idea has been that Rita and Zedd had a fling millennia ago that resurfaced near Earth.

Which sounds like a reasonable explanation for why they ditched the suits.

Okay honestly that actually explains a lot
Actually that makes sense. I Mena some of those suits, aside from looking different from each other, DO have a few pieces that look like they would be a hassle to Have on.
My theory about the arm:
The reason the Morphing Grid does things like age up a child and get rid of the snout is that the rangers still need the added protection.

The reason Billy isn't gay or bisexual in the canon is because actor David Yost stated that he as the actor is gay, not the character Billy. I respect that choice.
Very akin to George Takei’s stance on Sulu. He may be gay irl but the character he plays isn’t in his mind.
And besides, you gotta stay with what the character is supposed to be, not what the fans want them to be.
I never understand this current obsession with retro-fitting a character to the actor this way
Sulu in Star Trek
Miranda in And Just Like That
Wanda in Umbrella Academy

Someone needs to get Linkara on that asap
Reason he hasn't done any is because Patreons cannot request them. remember, Lewis said he has size-limits on what people can choose for reviews, and events and longer storylines basically go above that scope most of the time.
I think the only way for Boomstudios stuff to appear is if he does another event comics month and allows non Marvel or DC stuff on the poll.

One can get used to using a false limb without actually fully accepting it as part of oneself.

I see people who lose a arm before like Aaron from "walking dead" it's usually no big deal
In the wake of finishing the Cosmic Fury video, I went back to past videos, and reaching Super Megaforce with its opening invasion is mystifying in the sheer difference of quality.
I share your same sentiments on multiple things you touched upon:
1. The Cosmic Fury suits are awesome, both the Dino Fury and Cosmic Fury suits are equal in my opinion but the series proved that sometimes less is more
2. After listening to your comments about how Trini’s death was handled in Once and Always, I respect and agree with them showing it given that it was handled with such gravity (I initially didn’t like that they showed it since the actress passed away so I thought it was tasteless).
3. That part about the “Too much pink energy is dangerous” meme had me dying laughing”
My favourite moment is when Zedd just casually agrees that Earth sucks. If there's one thing he can relate to the zoomer generation over, it's that.

Regardless, I hope you'll continue to cover the seasons as they come out. To either point out the similarities or differences if its rebooted or just continue doing what youre doing now if not. Love your videos, and thank you for sharing my love for a silly kids show to everyone who watched any of your videos. Here's to many more generations of power rangers fans. May the power protect you
26:55 I’ve meet and interviewed Andrew and he is an incredible generous person and chill guy. It is completely disgusting that he was treated this way.
Unfortunately, it seems to be a common situation regarding actors (especially voice actors).
Eh, what are you gonna do? Haters gonna hate.
I admit his voice in Season 1 was rough but he was damn good in Season 2.
Weird thing is maybe because I don't keep up that well, I never heard about this happening. I hear people trying to rag on the Megaforce crew for how their season suffered, but never about Dino Fury Zedd.
@@hollyredmond8688 Yes, haters gonna hate, but that does not excuse the absolutely horrendous behavior. And as we've seen in so many popular franchises, there's a huge difference between acting critical and acting like a jerk.

Some comments:
1. The funny thing about Zack adopting Minh is that Zack and Trini in the comics (one that established why Kimberly sent that stupid Dear John Letter to Tommy in Zeo) apparently reunited with Kimberly in Florida at one point and it was revealed that the two of them hooked up. I guess it didn't end up working out, but nice to see they were still close enough to keep being friends and for Zack to adopt Trini's now orphaned daughter
Also it's surprising that they let 'sucks' be used as a word on a kids show of all places
15. I love it!
16. "Monster Thrash Metal Band" is one of those combinations of words that you only ever really hear because of Power Rangers, alongside "Ancient Ninja Electric Guitar" and "Too Much Pink Energy is Dangerous"
17. Wait...they're stranded on a desert planet that's got giant worms as the native species? SOMEONE'S a big fan of Dune in the writing team, aren't they? If any of the Rangers mention spice, I'm considering it confirmed
18. The difference between you and Ollie though is that Ollie's doing it for evil, while you're doing it for good
19. Oh cool, we finally get an actual official "Orange Ranger", moreso than what Kat had in SPD
Blue itself is a versatile color by comparison, so it makes his outfit's color distinct from Koda and James
I guess he's learned a thing or to from good spies of the past
25. Wow, Ollie's still evil when Zedd treated him kindly? I guess someone's been reading the Evil Overlord list in his offscreen time and decided to put Entry 48 into play. Of course Ollie's not a literal beast, so it doesn't work this time
26. You know, the point about SPD's continuity reminds me. With the combination of people like Orion, the Rafkonians, and now the refugees, aliens really HAVE been freely living on Earth for at least 10 years before that season, so...way to predict the future there, Linkara

16:24 and I thought Roboknight coming back to life for no explained reason during legendary battle mental broke this guy…
One was a stupid decision by the writer
One was him having a reference to him in a show hè grew up with
One of my favorite parts of Once and Always was that they used the words kill and die, no more “destroy”
Well said!@@thomasfleming8131
Destroy fits better for machines, concepts or when they are going for full "I will erase your soul" death.
Dude, ever since I saw the special I was curious what your reaction to the ‘too much pink energy’ line was. Turns out too much fan service is also dangerous. XD
That moment is one of many reasons that, should this be the last HOPR episode, then it's a glorious note to end on.

That extra little piece with Zordon at the very end, and Zedd actually having potential to be a good guy was awesome stuff. I'm happy they did things they did with Cosmic Fury.
I'm glad they left him dead but found a way for the chatacter to help his rangers one last time. Like briefly visiting a friend lost long ago
Truth be told, it was probably decided because Hasbro already had a Snizzard toy, so it would be an easy retool.
Tbh I don’t even think it was to get him back to voice Snizzard. I think it was more for the deep cut reference of “lol it’s Minecraft zordon”. Garzilla got a point… but still… we could have gotten king sphinx and pumpkin rapper… it would’ve been better that way imo

No reference to the Grid, no legacy villains, though I would keep Squillia and Bajillia, but I'd just keep them as side villains. Also I'd make Squillia a very open lesbian to her mother's bodyguard (who'd be Madakko's counterpart).
@hollyredmond8688
Oh, you wanted a reboot?
I don't know if great is the word I'd use
And he's like very handsome aswell it suits the black ranger well
Wow. I think this more sements why Javi is my favorite character in Dino and Cosmic Fury
You joke about Dark Pink, but as someone who is color blind I can tell you that I wouldn't have been able to tell if someone hadn't pointed out it actually being red. I certainly never noticed the pterodactyl being red in the original megazord.
Well to make Pink is Red and White so Red is actually an Dark Pink
Apparently Brenna Mejia was a tiny bit colorblind, so when he got the slip saying he's Dino Charge RED, he wasn't 100% sure...
"It's not pink, it's Lightish Red!"
You also forgot that the Blue Sentai Ranger was also an Alien Wolfman!
@@danielramsey6141 thank you, I’ll add the correction
If they had gone through with Power Rangers Supernova, it would've been so cool if they made most of the team aliens from past series of the show. Could've been fun.
@@inkmaster5480 problem is how this would affect the timeline. Plus toy costs, costumes. Thank you Lewis for sticking around with us to the end of the line for this franchise and video series, whether or not it's the end for both or not.
Must admit, I needed rewatching AND this analysis.
May not always agree with some stuff, like, if you'll allow me:
- the CF suit torsos being bare (though due to whatever material and color they used for it, I ADORE Amelia's shade of red. Being slightly more matte means the color is richer and not affected by the usual sheen),
- much of how Kat does serve a big unsung part in Once and Always (I know you are...not a fan of her being Tommy, and I respect that, but I find that works to help her own connection to this special in a couple of ways that did some catharsis for herself)
But this did put things in better perspective of being our grand finale.
Thank you, too, Linkara.
You know... Rewatching HOPR and some of the seasons, I came to realize, intentional or not, this season brings up the franchise full circle if we take SPD as the chronological end of the franchise, specially for one little detail:
After the Z wave, we've seen only two types of antagonists: Alien invaders that likely weren't reached by the Z-wave, or were formed post-Z-wave, and sealed evils, Venjix having the distinction of being one of two man-made evils with Mesogog.

@@oneovertwo1186That's why Magic has become such a shitshow recently? Gdi
@@HenshinHeroesMediayou mean adaptations of the shows?
This has been my favourite series on TH-cam recently. Been waiting on this one for a while! So excited to watch the video!
Zayto: "Magic wand, make my Solon grow!"
Also, if Hasbro's listening, GIVE ME A FIGURE OF AMELIA AS THE COSMIC FURY RED RANGER!
A waste of plastic
Don’t care what Hasbro says, it’s obvious the two were meant to go the other way. They should done more than just easily altering a prop.
