Come to downtown Toronto and pay 20$CA for parking and wait 8-10 hours for a non-emergency, in a shabby environment but it will be free if you’re a Canadian citizen (maybe for others as well - not sure)
I hope you have a quick recovery and sorry to hear you got hurt. As for private insurance (which is excellent) it depends on the emergency. For example I needed surgery and I had to pay the maximum amount of $500...which was less than 10% of surgery costs. So it was really worth having insurance. Get well soon.
Thanks for sharing this practical information. Is your Portuguese strong enough now that you were able to handle all of the explaining of your injury in Portuguese? Hope you heal up soon.
My Portuguese is ok, but at CUF, the doctors, nurses and staff all speak English. Some better than others, but I haven’t had issues speaking English there thus far.
Hi Josie! I love your videos, very informative. I am glad to hear it is not broken! I was curious if they have what would be the equivalent to Urgent Care like they have in the States there?
There isn’t something like urgent care here unfortunately. We have a clinic that may be the closest to urgent care called Clinimed in Obidos. However, appointments are required. I was able to call the same day and receive an appointment though. We have Montepio which is a private hospital in Caldas that is open 24 hours. I haven’t been there before, but people have said it’s good in case of emergencies.
Very informative. Thank you. Did you converse in English? My husband and I are both in our late 50's and we're going bankrupt with medical and dental. Very sad 😞 glad your thumb is not broken 😊
Josie, we are in Caldais da Rainah NOW until Saturday morning. Does the cool last from now until spring? How cold does it get? How cold is the winter. I remember in a video this spring you out out, where you were talking about the cool weather. We are from hot Texas, but my other half feels it may be a little chilly. He is from Kansas.
Every year varies. The forecast called for a sunny week, but these mornings have been foggier than last year. It usually lets up around 10am and then the sun comes out. However, 70s is pretty normal until late November when it drops down to 60s. The nights get cooler around high mid to high 50s. When the sun comes out, you’ll feel the difference.
@@josieinportugal6454 Thank you for the quick response. We just don’t want ANY snow and freezing weather. We saw some new buildings going up near the McDonalds outside of the center, and looks like they are making a building a new grocery store or something. Maps showed a green space where it is. Ewing built. Prices seem very good, but want at least a B rating. We were in Villa Real De Santo Antonio, and they had sooooo many flies. PS you remind me of my friend Quynh Lan! Same. Ur Ly personality.
@@dramirez1154 last year, there was some frost in the morning but it would quickly melt when the sun came out. The new grocery store is Mercadona which I believe is a Spanish grocery store. Most new construction will have at least a B rating if not A (most of the time it’s A).
You have private insurance I suppose, with which insurance company? (by the way, my wife and me have a second home in Foz do Arelho, so maybe one day we'll cross in the streets of Caldas :)
I do have private insurance, but it’s with an American insurance company. There are plenty of good ones in Portugal though which we will look into in a few years.
Glad to hear it’s not broken,
2 hours is not bad,
In Quebec you would be waiting 36 hours

I am glad you were not hurt badly, and this is good information!
Sorry about your thumb Josie, I hope that you recover soon and thank you for the information loved it! Oh you’re funny too! 😁
Great video Josie! I hope your thumb feels better soon!

Any other places we should hit up while here, please share.

Mas valia ter ido ao hospital público!!!
If you are a citizen, you can get the whole thing covered. I am a citizen there so I pay nothing.
