- Active Target 2 is it worth the upgrade over ActiveTarget 1?! I switched to Lowrance’s Forward Facing Sonar over Garmin’s for a number of reasons a couple years back now but now theres an upgrade! But is it worth it?!

Lowrance is hands down the easiest system on the market that you just drop in and go fish! Garmin I was always adjusting
I also use the 34 with my Garmin and fish a shallow natural lake with a lot of grass and it works really well.
Thanks for the video. I would love to see your comparison of the AT2 and the LS34. I have my favorite products but I’m not going to ignore good evidence! Thanks for taking the time to show us this stuff.

Some of your comments lead me to believe you have confused Sidescan HD & Active Target 2. Active Target 2 ALWAYS requires the use of an AT2 sonar module. The AT2 transducer always connects to the AT2 sonar module. This system can then be connected to HDS PRO, LIVE, Carbon, and Elite FS units using an ethernet cable. Sidescan HD may or may not require an S3100 module depending on which unit you're attaching it to. HDS PRO can support Sidescan HD without an S3100 module, but LIVE, Carbon, and Elite FS all require the S3100. None of them support Fish Reveal unless the S3100 module is used, along with a Fish Reveal Sidescan HD transducer. (There are Sidescan HD transducers that don't support Fish Reveal if a user wants to pass on that feature.)
Respect your opinion but to me Lowrance is horrible compared to Garmin. Garmin image is so much clearer and easier to operate.
I could definitely see that. DC and I just got back from Portugal and fished in a boat that had a 34 the whole time. It was good but we still preferred Lowrance because of the clarity at further distances.
To me it isn't even close. Garmin hands down. To each his own though! A UI you are familiar with and one that you can quickly navigate goes a long way!

AT2, AT1, LVS32, LVS34...either way, they are all superior to mega live. I settled for mega live a couple years ago because I didn't have to buy a new unit to run it...deff looking to upgrade to either AT2 or LVS34 in the spring.

I’ve had nothing but problems with my at2 and my HDs pro unit and I’ve had lowerance technicians, come out and try and fix it. I’m going to a garmin
John crews did a side by side comparison. And what i gathered garmin was closer shallower water lowrance was farther lost a little clarity but not at longer distance.
MegaLive has made some tremendous progress with their programming. Going to be a very powerful tool going forward. Is it as good as Garmin and Lowrance. Getting very close.
Have you done the latest update? I thought the last one in feb was leaps and bounds from what it was, but the same update for the solix units basically bricked them. I was waiting until the end of out tournament schedule to install the newest one. Is it significantly better than the 1.290?

Yes it is tremendous the advancement. They still have work to do with TM interference while engaged . It is improved by at least a factor of 10.

Lowrance settings and waypoint management is way better. Garmins only advantage is they are the creators of livescope.
which seems to be the only thing that matters, I only see Garmin units on boats nowadays and some hbirds, Im the only guy running Lowrance. Even guys that don't have livescope will have garmin. Lowrance's marketing sucks.
Do think they should up catch rate or weight since this tech is such an advantage? And do you think they should have electronic free tournaments to truly test fishing skill and experience? Thx
I know you did this video a long time ago, but where do you normally set your contrast.
Lowrance still has no answer for the lvs62 transducer. I fish in deep water 110-120' for lake trout and the Active target struggles down there.

I like to leave my setup at 100 feet out and then manually adjust depth up and down Depending on how deep it is
I still feel that Garmin has the top spot. Also Humminbird is still far behind on Forward Facing Sonar

I have the lv 34 and I love it. I've never seen the AT though, so hard for me to compare the 2
I still have AT1. I see exactly what you mean about the spot that’s blurry or just not as good as the rest of the screen. My problem is I can see the sonar as it emits it’s frequency. It’s like a huge boomerang shooting across the entire screen. It don’t really effect the quality it just weird lol. But I’m running it on an elite fs not an hds live or pro.

That's interesting! Do the new model Lowrance units have the ability to do lake water level offsets? That's why I have Humminbird and Garmin units...the Lowrance units that came on my boat couldn't do that and on TVA lakes in the winter, that is crucial.
They do not, that’s basically why I run a hummingbird at the console

Garmin is by far better. You have to take into account he is sponsored by lowrance so it's obvious he is gonna prop active target up.

Not bashing lowrance or nothing, but I really like lowrance is just hard to use in my opinion. The clarity is good, but the color pallets are pretty bad for identifying fish from cover and the image seems to get very scrunched and distorted away from the boat. Just my .02
Plain and simple at2 is clearer than Garmin which still kinda has a ghost tree affect and I can see fish in and around cover on at2 that you can't on a lvs 34

Don't buy the Garmin with the 34, you'll get rid of the AT2!
Man I ran a Garmin 34 last week in Portugal and to be honest both DC and I prefer the AT2 still.
put you a Harness on it and you will love the Garmin much better, with AGM or Lithium

You switched cause you got paid to. Livescope is superior and it's not close. I have the lvs32 and it's way more clear than your active target 2, let alone the 34.
Did you really think I would switch to something lesser just to make a dollar? The whole reason I left electronics companies was so I could run exactly what I wanted to run. You sir are wrong! I personally prefer Lowrance for several reasons and actually used a 34 all last week in Portugal. I still personally prefer that AT2

Like fishing in your kids fish bowl. Take away from the sport of learning how to find the fish. Just to be one step ahead of the other guy. It’s boring to watch you guys dangle a bait in front of a fishes nose until he bits it. There no sport in that. That’s like some deer hunters plant food plots put feeders out with sweet feed. Taking the chase out of the game. I learned to find there trail and learn there routine and try to get close enough to stick an arrow in it. I think you guys are killing the sport of fishing, and missing the big picture. You guys should play your video games at home and leave our great sports alone. Just to win money. That being said BLT
