It seems like the least likely time to praise God would be when we are going through rough times, but that's actually the time we most need to praise Him. We don't praise Him "for" the hard times, we praise Him for being with us, for His strength, for what He is accomplishing in and through us, that He knows what He's doing even when we don't know what He's doing. When we praise Him we are telling ourselves something about us, that we are with Him fully, that we aren't going anywhere. Like the apostle Peter said, "Where would I go? For You alone have the words of life." That's what we are reminding ourselves when we praise and worship Him through the difficult times.
