Ellie also still has an injured leg when she is running and carrying Tim down the steps. More maternal instinct to put kids first no matter what.

Great Video! Your analysis of Ellie is stellar! I’ve seen this Movie four to five times in the past year and you made me realize things that I didn’t catch from the Movie! Your Videos are criminally underrated!

I'm only mentioning this because you went to the trouble of having a pop-stopper and a standalone mic: Use audacity and use the auto-cleanup feature, then do some audio correction (Make your voice as loud as the dialogue in your clips, and try and remove the noise from your 'silences.' Taking a recording of the silence in your room to place over gaps in your speaking is also a good idea.

Also also, if you're going to edit your on-camera work, don't have something spinning next to you unless you plan on having some insane editing skills. The jumps in its spinning is distracting.

It is my first time using the mic so I’m still getting used to how to use it, but thank you for the tips! I’m always looking to improve my editing skills. As I’m not looking to make a career out of it, I have limits to how much work I can/am willing to put into the videos, but this sounds like something very doable for my tech-challenged brain. I appreciate the view and the comment!

@@BryanIra305It's a really simple process and you're like halfway there. Audacity is free, and pretty dang simple, and there are a bunch of tutorials online. I don't think it'd take too much extra time and effort to add it to your editing routine, and if you decide not to it really isn't that big of a deal.

      Definitely will be using audacity!

    Love the figurine.
Great points all around. The character writing is just better than the stuff in all the sequels. Yes, I'm including Lost World in that assessment. Eli is a wonderfully human character and Laura Dern gives a well-rounded performance that sells everything she's doing.
I will hear no word against Ellie for freaking about about Rexy chasing her. Of course, she's scared! She's being chased by what may have been the greatest apex predator to ever walk the Earth. Ian is clearly in shock and Muldoon is, as you noted, far more used to this type of experience.
The fact Ellie goes out later anyway is incredible. It's especially notable as she'd be more familiar with Raptors than most people. Meaning she knows far more about what she's going up against.
When I was a kid, I had such a crush on Lex; I thought she was so cool. Years later, reading the book I was kinda shocked by how bratty, annoying and outright unpleasant she turned out to be. Personally, I think Micheal went just a tad be over the top by having pretty much every set back faced by Grant be caused by Lex.
Looking forward to your raptor vid and the Fallen Kingdom rewrite!

Thank you! I think the fact that both Ellie and Lex became more central to the plot in the movie over the book is a good indication that all of it was a purposeful shift to highlight the power of female characters. Lex in the book was arguably more of a tomboy but she was definitely obnoxious and problem. Granted, kids that young are generally like that, but the film versions of the kids still act like children without being annoying or causing major problems. Biiiig improvement lol

@@BryanIra305Something else I wished to mention: I never noticed the gender role reversal you highlighted. It just felt really natural how they did it.
Anyway, have you considered sharing your stuff elsewhere for a bit more visibility. I found your channel by random chance but there's a lot of good stuff here. There are whole communities of Jurassic fans you could reach out to in R eddit.

Well I appreciate that!! I work really hard on the videos and I won’t deny I like the engagement. But I don’t have the ambition to be a professional TH-camr, so people finding me by chance is kind of fine with me. If lots of people see it, great! But I see this as my hobby/pet project and although I do get giddy whenever one of my videos performs well, that’s about as far as I intend to go with it. That being said, since I post so infrequently I leave the real work of being a TH-camr to more talented and popular Jurassic commentators like Klayton Fioriti lol

I honestly think Ellie is better than grant. She’s just…more real? I don’t know how to describe it, but that scene in the bunker genuinely made me think somewhere out there a woman was being chased by a raptor.

Laura Dern is a fantastic actress and she had a subtly meaty role in Jurassic Park. She did not waste a second of screen time, that is for sure.
