Or build-a-figure pieces that could be interpreted as severed limbs. Funny thing, I just saw a Ray Arnold figure from Jurassic Park in the toy aisle, bloody arm accessory and all.
Apparently it was sold next to figures from Tim Burton’s Sleepy Hollow movie that also featured severed heads, but no body complained about that, according to Al Snow and Mick Foley.
It didn't help that it was female head in a package with guy like Al Snow who looked like a lunatic. Plus look at the figure itself, it looks nothing like the real "Head" prop Snow carried in real life and more like they ripped the head off some random doll and wrote "help me!" on it.
The same Simpsons episode in question, Lisa vs Malibu Stacy, also had a somewhat similar mention of the BLO. Where one of Lisa’s friend had a Malibu Stacy doll that says Spider-Man’s quote “My Spider-Sense is tingling”.
I think the "Vengeance is Mine" may have been from a Punisher figure, as well. The same line had a Venom whose one quote was "I want to eat your brain!" Hearing Barbie say _that_ would have been fun, too!
Lol, Al Snow, man that takes me back... “What does everybody want?!” “What does everybody need?!” “What does everybody love?!” 😄😄😄 Good to have you back Ed 😎👍🏼
To the overzealous groups in the 80's saying Coleco Rambo toys are one of the most violent action figures? I strongly disagree.they didnt turm me violent.
Well my father watch Rambo Last Blood and he ask if I want to watch it, I just ok. Then, the movie turn into satisfaction because of the violence and revenge. Still, it didnt turn me into a maniac killer
I had a Rambo gun set with a knife and compass, I liked the compass alot. When the gun broke it became my Ghostbusters proton gun. I mean, I'm still violent, but it wasn't because of Rambo.
The old 'it turns you violent' routine... As an 80ies kid, I grew up with loads of 'violent' content. My best memories are playing mortal kombat with my friends, killing, maiming, cursing each other... Only to have a cool soda and some chips afterwards and chill. 41 now and haven't been in a single fight in my life😂
When I worked at Toys’R’Us as a teenager like 15 years ago they had already taken off like all Star Wars guns, any nerf gun that looked realistic, and whatever those foam dot things were you could make shapes with cause it had GHB or something in it. Those were the recalls I remember. The guns were just sitting in the back waiting to be picked up by the companies/shipped back.
I remember one time when I working at Hot Topic, a woman came into the store with her toddler. Although anyone can walk in, admittedly Hot Topic appeals more to teenagers, so I definitely wasn't used to seeing little kids running around the store. He went to our Funko pop wall and really wanted a Pennywise Funko pop. His mom just looked at me and said, "He LOVES Pennywise." MA'AM HE IS A TODDLER WHY ARE YOU LETTING HIM WATCH IT???? I'm not sure if she understood that IT wasn't meant for CHILDREN CHILDREN even though Pennywise is a clown. So even if a toy is advertised to 13+ or whatever the demographic, I think a lot of parents don't really understand what they're buying for their kids and then get mad about it later when they look into it. Warnings don't matter to them
I had Aqua Dots as a kid. I remember my mom just reminding me to not eat them and I'd be fine. We never got rid of it until I was older and didn't play with them anymore.
I've got one of the Nimbus 2000 brooms standing in the corner of my room, always a laugh when I see it in a recalled or banned item list. Got it back when they were first released.
I got one from toys r us right away when they came out too. Sadly my dad ran it over with a lawnmower when i was a kid lol thats dope you still have yours
As someone who's had 2 1st run Camo Swamp Thing including one MIB on my wall now, I can say the color change action functions exactly the same as the 2nd run. My theory was always cost saving, as I imagined hitting one part with the extra paint was cheaper than 3.
Now that I think of it, the original Toy Biz figures of Marvel characters used to make an (X-Factor) Iceman that had blue icicle-shaped paint on him that appeared when he was placed in the freezer. Those had a generous run, but when they tried to produce a Fantastic Four Invisible Woman figure, cost won out, and the full paint job of making her turn from transparent to blue and white of her uniform, and her blonde hair and her skin color was deemed too expensive, and she was discontinued. She was later released in transparent alone, no effects. Her body and hairstyle were later repurposed into a repaint, and a mechanism was added to become a Spider-Woman II figure.
See, I had thought that Iceman was a myth because all I ever saw was the blue-tinted "Ice Slide Action" version that didn't have the icicle effect. I have both now, but I hear the color change version's plastic is particularly brittle.
What's really ironic about the removal of the Nomad 'Terrorists Warrior Doll', is that Rambo's Allies (in Rambo 2) eventually turned into the Taliban, so......
I just recently found your channel, and I'm loving the videos. Some have made me cry of nostalgic means. My aunt decided to clear her cellar of a horde, sadly throwing my brother and i's childhood toys I miss all of them dearly, not for their price tag but for the memories. Those are priceless Thank you for your channel. I'm so jealous of those toys!
Glad to see you back. I was just thinking today that it's been a while since I've seen a video from Ed! That E.T. finger toy will always stick in my mind for weird toys.
When incorrect usage was mentioned, I knew it meant the Nimbus 2000 Quidditch broom. Also, thank you for mentioning Marv. I don't know if my copy is the original, or the reissue because I found it in aftermarket. But, I did have to take my copy from his place and change his batteries, to play (with?) him again. So that was fun.
I love how half of the reasons were complains covering bad parenting and the other half - complaints because "activism, hashtags, protests, we fight eeeeevil by acting out instead of just acting"
Playmobil has an executioner with hood and axe. Awesome Little Green Men did a whole faction of brown-skinned desert guys. Tech Deck Dudes did a couple fun ones like a Russian with the hammer and sickle on his hat. They also did a parody of Marv. Just pointing out some things that made it past whiny parents 😆 Great video

I have the Black Series, Credit Collection and Vintage Collection versions. I was definitely fired up about her being cut from the show. Most of these recalled toys have dumb reasons but others like Harry Potter or the beads make more sense. Looking forward to your next one!

@The Cheeseburger_666 Well, it sort of did, the nerds who had modems and could afford the phone bills used to access Bulletin Board Systems, which were then often linked to FidoNet and later, the Internet; these systems worked a lot like modern social media. Off-topic slightly, but I feel sorry for any girl whose name is Karen. When many of these girls were named, the "Karen" thing didn't exist, so now they are lumbered with a name with a negative connotation, when many girls called Karen are probably nice people who don't complain to management.
I remember when the Al Snow one happened. That was so ridiculous. A tiny bit of research would have shown every ill informed person that it was just a mannequin head. As Ron White says: "you can't fix stupid"
I love the storyline where Al Snow beat Hardcore Holly in a match, when he hit Holly with Head, and used Head to cover him. When Holly wanted his Hardcore Title back, Al informed him that he wasn't the Hardcore Champ, but since Head had covered him, Head was the new champ, and Holly would have to ask Head for a title shot, which Holly found ridiculous, talking to a mannequin head, until he relented. Head "refused". Later, Hardcore Holly told Snow to have a match with Head, and win the belt back off him, so that then Holly could challenge Snow for the belt. Seeing Al Snow roll around the ring, fighting a mannequin head was hilarious, and finally Snow pinned Head, but used his wooden riding horse, Pepe, to do it. When Holly then asked Snow for a shot, Snow said that Pepe actually pinned Head, so now Pepe was the new Hardcore Champion. A very funny story indeed.
IKR? Something tells me the professor who complained about the toy and got it pulled obviously didn't watch WWF programming at the time Al Snow was wrestling.
