I had one of those 18 inch alien toys. I remember the teeth being silver, and the second set that shot out when you pushed the button, and it seemed almost as big as I was at the time, kinda. Was probably 1982 - 83. I was about 6 years old .
I didn't have the Freddy Krueger doll as a kid but I did have and still do have my Freddy Krueger head that was also a squirt gun and my Freddy Krueger yo-yo from childhood.
I actually miss the old days, when Transformers toys had Spring-loaded projectiles. It gave them a hidden feature, aside from simply converting between 2 or more modes. Some examples include: Beast Wars Megatron and Quickstrike with spraying water, Transformers Armada with the Mini-Cons, Energon with the combining feature for Autobots, and Hyper Modes for Decepticons, Leader class figures with lights and sounds, and etc.
@@EdsRetroGeekOut IKR? Fuzors(aka: 2 mighty Beasts fused in one), Transmetals(aka: Robotic Beast -> Vehicle -> Robot) Transmetal 2, etc. Plus, Beast Wars was my Gateway transformers series. So it holds a special place in my heart.

I remember that 90s Kenner Aliens action figure line. It was started right after or before Alien 3 came out,but the figures were based on the 2nd film:Aliens(1986).
File this under stupid things I couldn't do today! I always wanted a G1 Megatron, but never could get my parents to buy me 1. A bunch of kids blamed his scarcity on some kid getting shot somewhere. When he his stock, scope, etc I walked across the room to show my other cool friends this gun toy. Nobody tackled me.
Im not sure if it was the megatron gun they used but it was a couple of toy guns that did bring the orange tip into effect. I did read about megatron being used for that on forums but never found an article 🤷♂️

As to Megs, I always wondered if that kids death was really true or more of a pre-internet rumor. On a side note, I wish we would've gotten the Browning gun toy as well.
That Roadblock GI-Joe reminded me of the Transformers Dreadwing Toy that could turn into a Tank or B2 Bomber and had this smaller jet that latched onto his back. Back when it came out i got it for my Birthday at Toys-R-Us , the Gatling gun on the toy you would spin the back side and it would launch the missiles in a sequence, problem is the part that released the missiles was extremely fragile and broke easily. We had about 3~4 trips to Toys-R-Us that same day to change the toy but gave up after it broke yet again.
The ALIEN 18 inch figure later went on to be one of the most sought after, and expensive items in the after market, pulling down upwards of $500.00 loose, and over $1000.00 in the original box ! I have the original figure and bought a facsimile box for it from a vendor in Rome, N.Y. who specializes in retro boxes. How to repair videos are found on TH-cam and new figures come out every year. So that decades later, this toy beat the odds and is more popular than ever.
I bought the talking Freddy and Max FX back in 1992, still have both unopened. Also bought Talking Venom cuz we thought the parents would freak out over the “I’m gonna eat your brains!” line. Didn’t happen. But it did amuse me when Playmates reissued April ONeil without her press badge because they were nervous boys would “press” her boob expecting the toy to react. Lastly- Megatron? Entertech says hold my beer.
All I wanted as a young kid was a Battlestar Galactica Cylon Raider for Xmas. But my parents didn't think it was educational for me. But I showed them as an adult I bought one. 😀 Once again cool video my good Sir. Regards Rikki Dee

Very informative ed. Keep up the good work
Thanks 🤓
I love these videos!
Thanks 🤓
I just watched a whole different video that also explained Battlestar Galactica. It's a sing. I must watch the show
I had a plastic Freddy Krueger glove that you could wear (just like the one in the film) when I was a kid and nobody thought anything of it!.
Cool 🤠
I actually miss the old days, when Transformers toys had Spring-loaded projectiles.
It gave them a hidden feature, aside from simply converting between 2 or more modes.
Some examples include: Beast Wars Megatron and Quickstrike with spraying water, Transformers Armada with the Mini-Cons,
Energon with the combining feature for Autobots, and Hyper Modes for Decepticons, Leader class figures with lights and sounds, and etc.
Beast wars had so many cool features
@@EdsRetroGeekOut IKR? Fuzors(aka: 2 mighty Beasts fused in one), Transmetals(aka: Robotic Beast -> Vehicle -> Robot) Transmetal 2, etc.
Plus, Beast Wars was my Gateway transformers series. So it holds a special place in my heart.
3:34 You can have Rom The Space Knight and The Adventure Team go up against him but no someone had to get mad about it.
1) amazing accent, 2) great nostalgia. New sub.
Thanks, it’s a flemish accent 🤓
Nowadays if something got recalled from a brick & mortar some online retailer would sell them for sure as an “exclusive”
If the parents think it's too scary or dangerous of a toy for their kids, then DON'T BUY IT! Don't they have the habit of educating their kids not to shoot projectiles at themselves or at any other people?
Those groups were never gonna buy the toys anyway. So who gives a shit if they boycott them?
That recalled Voltron looks like the one my dad had that he let me play with sometimes when I was little.... uh oh...
Yayy!! I was waiting for another toy history video! :D
I remember that 90s Kenner Aliens action figure line. It was started right after or before Alien 3 came out,but the figures were based on the 2nd film:Aliens(1986).
I'd read that Roadblock was rare and expensive, but I didn't know it was due to a faulty weapon. Wow.
And the roadblock is exactly the same i do believe only the launcher sets it apart I tought 🤔
File this under stupid things I couldn't do today! I always wanted a G1 Megatron, but never could get my parents to buy me 1. A bunch of kids blamed his scarcity on some kid getting shot somewhere. Flash forward to 1995/6 & the wonderful world of eBay. I finally ordered 1 & was so excited I assembled him in the cafe.
@@EdsRetroGeekOut You are an awesome guy Ed- thanks! I love that you personally reply to a bunch of these notes. Keep up the quality entertainment! As to Megs, I always wondered if that kids death was really true or more of a pre-internet rumor. On a side note, I wish we would've gotten the Browning gun toy as well.
that Alien toy is so awesome
I managed to get my hands on a reissue G1 Megatron with plastic bullets and no orange tip.
We had about 3~4 trips to Toys-R-Us that same day to change the toy but gave up after it broke yet again.
damn 🤦 that sucks
The ALIEN 18 inch figure later went on to be one of the most sought after, and expensive items in the after market, pulling down upwards of $500.00 loose, and over $1000.00 in the original box ! I have the original figure and bought a facsimile box for it from a vendor in Rome, N.Y. who specializes in retro boxes. How to repair videos are found on TH-cam and new figures come out every year. So that decades later, this toy beat the odds and is more popular than ever.
I once saw one boxed at a fleamarket for 350$ should have probably picked it up but 10 years ago that was like 7 days of garagesaling budget 😅
Coooool video Ed, very interesting, nice one 👍
Thanks 👍
@@EdsRetroGeekOut no worries mate, u always do cool videos, do you reckon me and you could do a video chat sometime? 😁
You mean like a livestream about the giant mask models you make? 😎
@@EdsRetroGeekOut just a general chat about our love for toys mate, and yes a live stream, we can discuss the models too.
Damn those Maxx Fx toys look awesome
I bought the talking Freddy and Max FX back in 1992, still have both unopened. Also bought Talking Venom cuz we thought the parents would freak out over the “I’m gonna eat your brains!” line. Didn’t happen. But it did amuse me when Playmates reissued April ONeil without her press badge because they were nervous boys would “press” her boob expecting the toy to react. Lastly- Megatron? Entertech says hold my beer.
I had the road block with the missile launcher, I forgot how terrible he looked. The neon nineties was not good to the Joe's.
I liked the neon colors but I do think when you grew up with them in 80’s the 90’s colors made em look silly
@@EdsRetroGeekOut I liked them back then, looking at them now makes me cringe cause I start remembering the neon stuff I wore at 8 & 9🤣
Yeah the GI Joe Eco-warriors! I remember those neon atrocities being major peg-warmers in the 90s.
I received one of them and it fell to the bottom of the toy box and never saw the light of day again.
@@danielspencer582 Then it's probably worth money now! 🤑
"Think of the children!!!" - Man these parents...
Wow. You'd definitely be the coolest kid in the world if you had that Alien.
All I wanted as a young kid was a Battlestar Galactica Cylon Raider for Xmas. But my parents didn't think it was educational for me. But I showed them as an adult I bought one. 😀
Once again cool video my good Sir.
Regards Rikki Dee
Thanks 🤓
Great video Ed, can't wait for the next 🤙🤙
10:04 oh no, how dare they make that toy. No kid should be playing with something so violent!! so anyway, want to play GYA 5, COD, CS.GO, or any other of my shooter games my friend??
*The Rock plays Roadblock now!* 💡
I still have that circular ship where the wings slide out. I got it at a garage sale in 1989 along with those two weird floating droids from the Disney movie 'The Black Hole', one is normal and the other is all dented and messed up(purposely)
paid 5$ for them both.
Awesome find!
Yeah, my Battlestar toys had the crappy "safety" barely pop out and push it back in missles that didn't even leave the vehicle.
🥲 that’s no fun
You know dad's had no part of getting those toys pulled lol they were the ones who got them for there kids just so they could play with the toys to hahaha... but cool father's are no match for a angry mob of Karen's lmao the Karen's been destroying dreams of fun for many years. Great vid 👍🏽👍🏽😂
🤣👌 thanks
💯
I don't think the dad was aware that the toy could kill his young son.
It's a tragedy, regardless.
Back then was quite different.
Back then, we didn't realize what we understand now. I mean, they used to sell radioactive toys for kids.
I guess these groups just gave up when Pinhead and the Cenobites came along.
There just two of the Freddy dolls that sold on a few months ago by a pawn shop. Sadly I didn't win Damn work got in the way of the auction.
🥲 damn that would have been a great haul
I use to have one of those Cylon raiders as a kid but it was the non firing version.
Great Video again with great infos. Nice.
Thanks 🤓
I love this channel keep it up
Ed great content.. love to recap my childhood... I was a spoiled rotten kid!!!
Thanks 🤓
