There was originally just one article pointing out that Koreans are taking issue with the song, too, particularly a TH-camr from Bridge TV. I just found out there are several articles now, including one in The Korea Herald.
Just so anyone knows, I'm not a "hater" trying to take this group down, I really love the song, but unfortunately can't enjoy it. It even weighs on my conscience while trying to enjoy the other songs. I get people are tired of drama and don't want these incredibly talented girls affected by it, I didn't want Garam kicked out of the company and think people ran to conclusions when we still don't know what actually happened in her situation. The Cookie situation is complicated, though, I don't have the answer as to making sure the girls aren't affected by this, but ignoring child exploitation doesn't sit right with me, either.

@@bog4543 did you read my comment? i know it was written by a songwriter from sweden who is fluent in English. What the company did was rewrite the song in Korean from english. so all the Korean parts are re written and the English parts were probably kept as it is. which is why i mentioned that the english lyrics that they didnt rewrite to Korean is the worst part regarding the lyrics because the original song likely was written with an innuendo. they overlooked the part that cookie can have innuendos because in Korean baking cookie is slang for making music which was their mistake. In all honesty i do wish they looked more into it before they decided on the song but i can understand why they missed it. As an English speaker from the UK, i didnt know cookie had that meaning until this whole thing blew up, because no one uses it here in that context. its mainly an American thing so it makes sense why they probably didnt know it either. In the future i really hope they make these choices carefully and not leave room for mistakes.

The main issue here is the translations are literally not direct, their altered a bit in the first place to make the English captions flow with the music, but that also alters the words a bit.

They also expressed gratitude to the fans for their support and stated that they would do everything possible to protect the girls from malicious rumors. The company is messed up to assign this type of lyrics for the girls tbh. The song was written by English speakers, so it definitely has euphemisms intended for the lyrics. It would've been fine if it's done by a more mature group. So mostly it's the company and the creative director that are being weird with their intentional choice to match the song with the group.
The song by itself? Great. The girls, themselves? Talented. Mixing the two? Questionable.

These lyrics feel just wrong coming from 14 year olds, especially when you know about the CEO of Ardor and her recent statements. This song was written by adults, they knew what they were doing and what the song was about.

Frankly speaking before this mv release I didn't know Americans use Cookie as slang to refers vagina. When everyone was like it double meaning I was like where is the double meaning. Then I have to search it to know. Anyway I am wondering how many people knew this slang apart from American. I don't think there is many people. And I think in Asia we use Cookie as cookie. Not everything has to be in American way.

Cookie was written by a korean woman and a swedish woman. None of them are native speakers so to say they wrote cookie with the intention of using american slang to give it a sexual meaning is ignorant. English is a global learned language but it wouldn't raise eyebrows for the most of us outside america hearing lyrics like lookin at my cookie etc

The girls shouldn’t get hate because of their age but there should be some caution. Also let’s applaud that now people are looking out for them as opposed to in the earlier days.
