Why are they trying to appeal to global consumers? Why didn’t they make the song fully in Korean? A company must know their market and take the consumers input into consideration. It’s not the Seo Taji era, it’s 2023. The reaction is warranted.
There’s also plenty of inappropriate korean slang that doesn’t exist in America. If I use korean slang in a song and say “this isn’t bad word, that’s just your *KOREAN* view”, that would be a problem right?

This reminds me of the song “ice cream cake” by red velvet with the good beat, good vocals & visuals, cool mv, but questionable lyrics, especially one of the members was a minor, plus was directed by the same person
I was told that the meaining is not sexual in korean. The cookie is a korean slang word for a CD (you can even see them in the MV). It just sounds really wierd translated into english.
I dont think that HYBE would release a song that is that inappropriate. And you can even see in the MV, because Hyein is so underage, she is fully covered. They would not want a scandal right after debut. I might be wrong but I think they didnt realease it with that in mind, even the girls said so.
But I definetely think they should check tranlations of their upcoming releases, because I cant lie first time I read the lyrics I was reacting the same way as you.

They didn’t adapt the lyrics for us international fans. So the original sexual meaning is very obvious for us because we use the word “thirsty” as “wanting to have sex” also
