Thank you so much for this! As a plus size girl who does not want to pay to check my luggage, I searched high and low for packing tips. I went through the smaller girls' videos and kind of worked my packing from there but it was so hit and miss. There just isn't enough out there for us girls! This is so much appreciated--thank you again!!!
That is one of the reasons I made this! It’s one thing to fly carry-on only when you’re very thin. But it is much more difficult being plus size as our clothing takes up a lot more room. I’m so glad you found this video helpful!
I’m really glad to see this video. Excellent job! There are a few plus size carry-on only travel capsule YTers with similar videos, but they are “smaller fats” and their options tend to be functional vs styled. Im a 3x/4x carry-on only traveler, and it took a lot of trial and error for me to finally get 30+ unique outfits into a single carry on, which I just recently packed for a 3-month trip. And the trick is exactly what you showed: a capsule with a color scheme, being sure to include layering pieces like cardigans or jacks or button-up shirts, ensuring every top or top+layer combo matches every bottom, and ROLLING your items to pack. My other packing “secret” is to only pack clothes, pjs, and shoes in the suitcase and put everything else in the personal item (including bras and panties, which can be hard to find in large sizes in brick and mortar stores outside of the US, in the event your carry on gets gate checked and lost/delayed). So your video isn’t just theoretical, it’s 100% practical and doable, even for larger fats. Thanks again for the great content!
Thank you so much! That is why I made this video, all other carry-on capsule wardrobes are done by much smaller people. I was pleasantly surprised that it all fit in the carry on with quite a bit of room left and I also had the personal item bag that was empty. Where did you travel over the 3 month trip?
Thank the Lord. Finally a truly plus size lady who's my size. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I just found you. New subscriber here. Love, love, love pouchette matise, I have it in 4 colour ways. Great choice of bag.
Welcome to the Thick Girl Gang! I'm glad you found me too! The Pochette Metis is such a fantastic bag! It's big enough to hold everything you need and so chic!
This was very helpful! I’m heading to London in a little more than a week and trying carryon only. You’re the only plus size person I’ve found! Thanks again!
This was so helpful! I am also a true plus size girl and I've always been an over-packer, so it was great to see that it is possible. Would you be willing to do one for winter travel, since cold weather clothing is bulkier? Thank you again!
I wish I had seen this before I packed for my 7 day trip …. Using my 29 inch suitcase and a large shopping bag with my big feet shoes….we were driving so I just overpacked and didn’t really care…..
It's so easy to over pack, which i have done a lot too lol. I am trying to learn how to minimize and only bring things I know I need and will wear but it's a hard habit to break.
I'm amazed you could fit all that in. Im going to Europe for 6 weeks soon and can't get quite that much in my suitcase, so well done! Lovely capsule wardrobe, super cute outfits.
Thank you so much for this video! I am such an over-packer and I was struggling to figure out what to take on a trip to Vegas. This was so, so, so helpful! Love you!
Great video. On our first trip to Europe I took the biggest suitcase I could find and packed it to the brim! Lol, and then we discovered that their train stations don’t have lifts so I had to lug it up and down stairs to get to a different platform to catch our next train! 😣 Man that thing was heavy! Also we decided to walk to our hotel, a small family run place which also didn’t have a lift, and did I mention the cobblestone street? We bought small suitcases as soon as we got home, but now we think we will try to only take carryon bags for our next trip. I am also a slightly larger lady so I wear a lot of mid thigh level tunics and tops so, more fabric on each item. Excuse the waffling and thank you for this very helpful video. I love that you showed the combinations after, I would happily watch more vids like this 👍🥰
LOL oh no, and this is exactly what I am trying to avoid when I go to Italy this fall. I have to pack smart and as minimal as possible. I will be doing a pack with me video for my Italy trip, and I am planning to try to do a Winter capsule wardrobe video later this year too, so definitely stay tuned for those!
Totally understand you. I went to Europe (bus roadtrip style from Spain to Italy) and we had to get our luggage on and off the bus so many times. It was exhausting.
I think you made excellent choices. Being a curvy girl as well, I am always trying to get a good balance of pants, dresses and tops and sweaters. Also great color combinations as well. I also pack a packable duffel for your clothes and souvenirs go in your hard case. You can check your bag on the way home if you have too. I did 2 weeks in carry on only in Italy 2 times so far and it is pretty easy. Hope you have a great trip.
Oh how I miss Charming Charlie!!! I wish something like it would come back! In my youth it was Accessory Lady. We have Francesca’s but I’ve never been impressed with them. However that said I usually stick to a silver or gold necklace with a heart pendant and huggy hoop earrings when traveling. Thanks for the video!
I am planning to do a winter capsule wardrobe video later this year! That one is going to be even more of a challenge as the clothing and shoes are extra bulky
I wonder if the 5-4-3-2-1 method would help? I am a smaller sized plus, but have done 3 bottoms (1 worn on the plane) and 4 tops = 12 possible outfits. Add 2 layering pieces and you have 24 outfits & wear one layer on the plane and dress in layers… wearing the warm layers on the plane? It has helped me really narrow down and pack super small in an underseat. I wear my boots & take a pair of tennis shoes. You may already know of this method, but I just thought I would mention it for the winter packing as that is what has helped me. It is hard to figure out what to take at times & still have style. This is pretty minimal but I have done it for two weeks - when visiting my folks so I could wash and wear. It is harder when one has no way to wash clothes easily though & that might be the biggest challenge actually. 🤔 I am going to get to test this out for myself soon for 2 weeks & a roadtrip and trying to wash on the way 😬 So hoping I can make it work! 🤞🏻
Use a baby wipe it works till it can be washed and use ivory bar soap it wash it out but the best soap for is old fashion lye soap cold water wash on folded fabrics. Hot water on wholes.
Thank you so much. That orange jacket was from Torrid from like two years ago so unfortunately it’s no longer available. I hope they bring something similar to it out this year.
This is perfect! Thank you so much just what I was looking for. I love you tried the outfits on and showed us how to mix and match not just the pieces. I subscribed 😊
I needed this so much. As I'll be traveling overseas this October 2024. I'm very tall but I Carry my weight in my stomach. Yet I need to be comfortable at all times. Plus I don't want to over pack. Great video 🎉
I'm not plus size but this is a great plan for everyone!! l'm going to Italy mid-October to mid- November and am facing some shifts in the weather. Challenging! 😊 Subscribed!!
Awe thank you! Welcome to the Thick Girl Gang!! I just use Livi (Lane Bryant's Brand) bike shorts now for shape wear. It has a big top panel that helps to compress a little but doesn't squeeze the life out of you like most shapewear.
Great video!! Your strategy and outfit ideas are great for any size woman! I’m doing a similar capsule for 10 days in Europe, even though I’m checking a bag I want room for the goodies I buy there!! …wish me luck! 😉 Thank you! PS, I have the same backpack as you! I’m hoping it’ll work well as my carryon with a cross body purse as my personal item.
Awesome! That is probably what I will do when I travel to Italy later this year, I also want room for bringing back stuff. I love the Lovevook backpack, I hope you do too!

I hate to be "that person" but with everything that's going on over there, you really might be safer staying at home. At least keep that as an option just in case full blown war breaks out overseas. You don't want to get caught out there like that.

Indeed! I was shocked lol. I have some more capsule wardrobe videos coming to help us plus size ladies travel carry-on only
Great capsule from an over packer. Dont forget pjs.
Good call! I could easily fit it in the remaining room in the luggage or the personal item.
