OOTB is On par with the Beatles’ sgt.peppers and pet sounds by the beach boys, even the less known songs on the album are bangers and could of been released as singles. Across the border, night in the city, starlight, it’s over, standing in the rain,big wheels,summer and lightning. The album is just genial.
My Mum and Dad still have this album on the original limited edition blue vinyl pressing from (I think) 1978 and one of my earliest memories was listening to this track. It's now one of my favourite songs...period. I go to a very happy place when I hear this masterpiece 😊

Whenever I see you losing your mind over Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, ELO, etc., I'm reminded that we had the best music growing up!!! Seriously. You might want to check out the Rolling Stones "Miss You," studio version. It's amazing. Or the Doors, Roadhouse Blues. That one will blow your mind.

Jeff Lynne (Lead Singer) is a master song writer/producer. Every song is such a work of art. ELO is sadly unappreciated by the later generations. I still feel their music is so futuristic.

Elo is probably one of the only bands that can take what are essentially sad Lyrics about someone turning to stone when someone they love is gone.. and making it a happy feel good song !!! just amazing. still waiting for Mr. Blue sky it was part of a scientific study in which Mr. Blue sky was deemed to be the happiest song of all time !
The only other band who can compete with ELO on the sad lyrics/happy tune front are ABBA. How lucky were we who experienced this music originally? Few groups have an unblemished record of 100% excellence but I can't think of a single ELO track that could be described as even average let alone poor.

My older brother brought it home from college in 1977 and I was blown away by the rich timbre on a great hi-fi stereo and happy music!

Other songs off this album that you need to react to is Mr. Blue Sky which is on the 3rd side of the double album and the end of what is called Concerto for a rainy day which is the best side of any of their albums.
