Jujube is used as an ingredient or topping in many Korean dishes and traditional medicines as it warms your system and is good for your blood circulation, sleep irregularities and stomach aches, etc. It is also eaten fresh just as a fruit. And the white drink that Marianne was drinking was Shik-hye. The fermented rice drink you had in Busan but that one was a commercial canned version, so the taste and quality wouldn't have been exactly on par with the one you had at the temple (likely, home-made). Great video series I must say. One minor note. 14:21 Han, Yong-Woon is famous poet but also most important figure in Korean Independence movement during Japanese occupation (1910-1945). Unfortunately he passed away in 1944 June, not seeing his country’s liberation from Japan.
I would have liked a clearer view of the plant, especially the leaves. It looks like a Rose of Sharon. Where I live has both hot and cold extreme temps. We plant it in the ground and it does just fine. The one I have blooms multiple colors of white, pink and medium purple from the same plant. Remember to cut it back in the spring after there's no danger of frost and it will bloom like crazy.
There are really so many beautiful spots to visit in Korea. I remember there was one scenic spot (temple?) we went to which is situated on a high mountain. Going up on top of the mountain through a zigzag, very narrow road was scary but our driver was excellent. The flower belongs to the hibiscus family. Koreans see to it that there is something beautiful and artistic in every nook of their country.🥰

South Korea 🇰🇷 is amazing, I was there on vacation in July 2023. --- The mountains! Are beuatiful. I love them so much, they were great to hike in Seoraksan National Park.

15:40 the iced tea is called “Sik Hye” which the rice tea you tried at the tire store (made in house ver. tastes much better than the can version) and the hot tea is called “Dae Chu Cha)” means jujube tea (sometimes people add ginger, pear, and/or cinnamon to it). Tamarind isn’t really used in Korea. The taste could be from ginger and cinnamon. I highly recommend “Su Jeong Gwa” which is Korean Traditional Cinnamon Punch (cinnamon, ginger, jujube, brown sugar) that is served as cold tea.
The black tea you drank is a good drink for colds and physical recovery. It looks like a Ssanghwa tea, so my guess would be correct. For a foreigner to drink it for the first time, the bitter and sweet taste may not be that good. This tea is very good for your health

They also make a sweet persimmon tea that is very nice, also come with floating pine nuts. Next time you should try it, it called Su-jeong-gwa.

A black one : 수정과(Su Jeong Gwa). Ingredients - Ginger, Dried persimmon, Cinnamon.
A white one : 식혜(Sik Hye). Ingredients - Cooked rice, 엿기름(Yeot ki reum) or 엿질금(Yeot jil geum). “Yeot ki reum” is dried and crushed sprouted barley.
The pink flower is Cystus, it does grow here in the UK, but needs a sheltered spot. Enjoying your Korean trip.
It’s Rose of Sharon. It’s the National flower of Korea. It does look very similar looking to cistus but not related
The flowering plant is Rose of Sharon and it grows all over the world including the United States in Europe and UK and it does not have to be sheltered

The flower is called the Rose of Sharon in English. It is a hibiscus species. It is the national flower of Korea.
15:40 the iced tea is called “Sik Hye” which the rice tea you tried at the tire store (made in house ver. tastes much better than the can version)
and the hot tea is called “Dae Chu Cha)” means jujube tea (sometimes people add ginger, pear, and/or cinnamon to it). Tamarind isn’t really used in Korea. The taste could be from ginger and cinnamon.
I highly recommend “Su Jeong Gwa” which is Korean Traditional Cinnamon Punch (cinnamon, ginger, jujube, brown sugar) that is served as cold tea.

The black tea you drank is a good drink for colds and physical recovery. It looks like a Ssanghwa tea, so my guess would be correct. For a foreigner to drink it for the first time, the bitter and sweet taste may not be that good. This tea is very good for your health

I was going to comment Timestamp 6:29.... I see others have commented but here is what I know. It's the Mugunghwa (moo-goong-hwa) which is the national flower of Korea. If I am not mistaken its related or is a kind of hibiscus.
