100% agree - put the charging bays in the best spots and they WILL be ICE’d. You would think the designers of these installations would have figured this out by now!
Cameras on the chargers, automatic billing via DVLA records for idle time if you park there and are not charging, start at £10. Double the charge every time the same car parks there. Won’t take long to get the message.
Both the Mercedes EV parked next to you as not charging, then especially the other gent. What would they say if we spent 20 minutes parked in our EV at a filling station blocking the pumps?? Everyone needs to understand that EV chargers are for EV's needing to charge, not for parking an EV or non EV whilst you shop. People are becoming too lazy and I beleive we need parking restrictions added and enforced. Interestingly Aldi near me also seem to be missing from the Shell Recharge App.

Sure, just park your EV next to a petrol pump and if anyone questions you, just say that you are going to fill your car with petrol in your own time, when you feel like it, and just walk away.
The Merc driver is exactly the same type of person who will park in a disabled bay - because it is nearest the store entrance; most Sunday mornings, the local Lidl Disabled spaces are entirely filled with expensive cars - all without a blue badge, as the posh people do not want their posh cars dented by the plebs in the normal parking spaces - I have even seen one Range Rover park across TWO disabled bays, just to make doubly sure (but THAT was at Aldi).
I can't see that, given Shell UK were one of the organisations who lobbied the previous government to bring *forward* the original 2035 ban on the sale of new ICE to 2030. The National Grid were another organisation who also lobbied for the same change.... Don't forget Shell UK own (or at least did own) an energy supply company, supplying domestic properties.... They also have an EV charging network.
Could be a bit of extra revenue for Aldi to fine the drivers abusing the rules. Like if you overstay you get a fine. Just point an ANPR at the bays and if the car is not EV fine them. Simples.
She’ll Recharge runs the EV chargers in my local Waitrose. You have to pay for parking else the parking attendant will book you. Shall I send him to Preston next time 😀

If I can go to a gas station, swipe a card, and get gas. Why can’t I go to a charge station, swipe a card, and get electricity? Why are these companies so hellbent on over engineering the purchase process with an app!? This is the reason I drive a Tesla, and exclusively charge at superchargers on my road trips.
Not much room between charging bays to open doors! Bays will always be iced when they are so close & convenient to supermarket entrance. If new chargers won’t work we’re doomed 😂
If you place them next to the entrance there will ALWAYS be: - an entitled ICE driver just blocking it - an entitled EV owner with a fully-charged battery - someone with a "handicap" badge if there were none of THOSE free These are unlikely to be a long-term solution ANYWAY unless Shell gets a LOT more serious with them
Interested to note, the Mercedes next to you is not plugged in. So it is blocking the bay, just as much as the angry bmw driver. Also, this car park is so badly layed out and the bays are soo small. Putting the charging bays next to the doors is just encouraging all types of drivers to park there even if not charging. the shell chargers are also at my local Aldi, they are awful to use, even with an rfid card. I’ve given up trying to use them
Yes Dave was a little bit biased against the petrol cars when a big Merc EV was doing exactly the same. Having said that, petrol cars blocking chargers are not on and should be stopped by whatever means are necessary.
You have to be careful Dave their are many nutcases about who couldn't car less hurting you even if you are big. Some of these morons pretend they don't know but they do.I parked with a big wheelchair sticker on my backwindow.Still somebody parked very close to me without any need. There was plenty of room in the car park.
Thanks for taking it on Dave! As someone who just bought their first ev less than a month ago I love my new car, but find the incompatibility between chargers annoying. It would be so nice if the charging companies got together and made a standard where they all worked similarly to each other. It is annoying to have to download a new app for every different brand and fuss with the charger for ten minutes to figure out how to get it to work.
Agreed, I'm also a new EV owner, love the car, and will charge 99% at home, but I'm exploring the public charging options for potential future use. I have downloaded seven different apps for seven different charging companies, not including PlugShare which tells me where to find all the chargers, but is not tied to one charging company. Many local chargers have been vandalized (cables removed by thieves), and not repaired in months. I like the idea of carrying your own cable and just having a socket to plug into. ALL public chargers should have tap to pay options, just like gas pumps, and only require an app if you want a loyalty discount.
Therein lies the problem with a lot of AC charge points, by the time you've plugged in your own cable and got it to work you just waste a load of time. Rapid chargers tend to be a lot more reliable. The amount of time you'd have wasted figuring it out vs the amount of charge you'd actually get from an 11kW charger whilst doing a shop is just not worth it!
What your seeing here is new stores having to put chargers in as a planning requirement. They chose the absolute cheapest minimum options to meet that requirement. Job done as far as they are concerned. As for the the Merc drivers... parking eye will soon be cashing in on the non electric cars parking in those bays! They don't miss a trick to bring in £££.
I get the impression that Lidl and Aldi don't want it to work, just put in charges for planning purposes. I thought all new chargers were supposed to accept credit card payment by law
My local Aldi. I've tried before and failed the same as you. It's not on ZapMap either. How on earth are we supposed to go all EV with this kind of faff going on? It's crazy. Hope you got some shopping in an and a brew in LoomLoft!
I was trying to charge through the APP myself for over 30 mins... only thing that worked with these Aldi chargers was the Electroverse card which i was charged 65p not 25p. Total con....was advertised as 25p but was charged 65p. Emailed Shell Support and got nothing back. Disgrace.
I’d contact Electroverse support (not the general Octopus email) about that particularly if the app stated the rate was 25p/kWh. I had a problem with Fuuse chargers using the Electroverse app and they advised that they had sorted the problem out with Fuuse and gave me a £5 credit as compensation for the trouble I had. I also would have phoned the customer services phone number whilst at that Aldi store to see if they could sort it out remotely before giving up. If they’re new chargers there should also be a contactless option. I thought that was a new government regulation?
Why aren't the stores using outside parking companies to fine these idiots for parking in ev charging zones, even the ev next to Daves was parked and not charging he should no better
It's the same story with parent and child bays! There needs to be some penalty like with disabled bays or this will keep happening. Good video Dave, hopefully this gets back to the Aldi head office and is sorted asap.
AC charging at stores like this makes no sense. At big shopping malls where you may stay for hours is a different matter. Stores where you're done in 15-20 minutes need DC fast chargers. Kempower is perfect in these places as the satellites are small and the charger rack can be easier to place outside the lots.
One of the new Lidl stores near me (Redditch) has the chargers (rapid and fast) at the far end of the car park. Never get ICED, but you try getting a parents/child space or disabled space which are right by the door and you'll be out of luck. I personally much to the disgust of my mother and father in law, park as far from the entrance as possible. No parking dents on either of my last two cars.
They park there because the spaces are wider, less chance of door dings from careless drivers. I always park in the charging spaces for the same reason but I have an EV and always plug in for a top-up, it’s cheaper to pay for the charge than a smart dent repair man. 😂
Oh dear this is putting fuel on the non EV brigades fire. I bet this is something to do with the payment system because as Dave pointed out there does appear to be electric to these. :-( what a mess. They should be commissioned and if not they should have a bag over them.
I have just bought a Tesla and luckily I have just got a home charger installed, but one thing that shocked me was the massive difference in price for the same charger on different apps - Wesham Hospital 7kw near Preston, 20p on Zappap and Mer, but 75p on Shell Recharge! Might be worth making a video if this is a common thing...
Those parking spaces look too small for the vehicles parking there, can hardly open the car doors, specifically the Merc & Tesla parked at the charging point
Combustion cars parked in charging bays happens a lot here in Northern Ireland. I've even seen EV's parked in charging bays, and they're not even plugged in.
Last time I went to an Aldi I parked up and plugged in. I couldn't get the app to work, so I left it plugged in so people thought I was charging. I don't know why they don't just have a payment point on them.
So spooky... I tried to use these charger types at Aldi in Flitwick, Bedfordshire yesterday, tempted by the 25p charging rates. Shell charging is a complete and utter sh*t show! The Contactless payment would not work, I registered on the app and then told me card payments could not be processed at this time. The QR code would not work. Called the Shell helpline and said all lines were busy and there would be an extended wait. I was in genuine need of a top up, but fortunately there was Tesco Pod Points a mile down the road.
In NL we just tap a RFID card/token against the pole to start and stop - same as fast chargers. Looks like top right corner of this Aldi has RFID sign?
As it happens, the ICE cars might as well park there for the time being, if the chargers aren't working. I'm sure that when the chargers are fixed and EV's start using them, people will realize what the purpose of those spots are, when they see the charging cables attached to the vehicles.
The Aldi near me in Sheffield has a lot of these little blue chargers however, none of them work. They've never worked and there's no barcodes or signage. Aldi... The poorer cousin of Lidl 😂
The whole ac charging at supermarkets thing has been poorly thought out. Most people going to a supermarket are local anyway, and as such will do their charging at home at 7p per kWh. Unless you can allow the car to charge all day, whats the point? You're only going to get a max of 11kWh in an hour and a lot of car parks issue a parking charge after 1.5 hours. So, people without off-street parking will need to charge somewhere, but that'll never work on ac, particularly if it's so hard to initiate a charge and/or avoid the bell-enz who will park anywhere in their fossil powered cars.
Yes Martin that's why I am pushing for supermarkets to have working chargers but also to open up their car parks overnight free of charge. It costs them nothing. While those who can charge at home for 7p won't charge in their local supermarket at 25p, those who can't might.
@@davetakesiton more power to you. If you want to initiate some sort of E- petition, I'm sure myself and your other followers would share it far and wide.
Aldi put the chargers as near to the store as possible. Why? To signal to people they are so green. However, if you think about it most customers want to park as close to store as possible. I do not. At my local Aldi there are very rarely cars charging but the bays are usually occupied with ice vehicles. I have brought this to the attention of Aldi absolutely no interest whatsoever. Lidl had a consultation in Birmingham about a new store I told them about how Aldi did not really want people to charge and they said they would take my comments in to account. One day supermarkets will compete on their charging for shoppers but I sense that is a few years away.
Firstly on the Shell Recharge app it doesn't show the chargers at my local aldi. I don't use the but I do use the Shell Recharge RFID CARD ALSO OCTOPUS RFID CARD UNTIL COUNCILS IMPOSE FINES ON ICE CARS INCLUDING ANY EV DRIVERS WHO DON'T CHARGE. CAMERAS SHOULD BE PLACED NEAR TO CHARGERS AND A WARNING SIGN SO NO EXCUSE
In my State of Oregon it is a class D traffic violation to park in a charging space if you are not charging, with a $250 fine applicable. That includes ICE cars, EVs that are not plugged in, and presumably EVs that are plugged in but are not actively charging. The question is, how are these people caught? Can a private citizen report the offence, ideally with a photo of the car and number plate sent to local law enforcement, or does a police officer have to catch them red-handed?
@@davetakesiton I can see the manager's point, he's not in charge of the Shell chargers, even if they're in a parking lot that belongs to his store. A bit gutless, all the same. I didn't see any signs in your video informing people that it's an offence (if it is in the UK), and to be honest I haven't seen any at the public chargers I've visited so far. I think if people have the information right there and still insist on being a dick, then they are setting themselves up for grief. Remember when cellphone use by drivers in moving cars became a big safely issue? If they had a public hotline where you dob someone in (with a clear photo of driver, phone and number plate) and get 10% of the fine for doing your public duty, I could have made a fortune at the Hammersmith roundabout any weekday morning.
Even in private parking lots like a store or supermarket? The authority have no say on private lots here in Norway. It is up to the owner to either hire a company to mange the lot or deal with it themselves. Some do call a tow if people don't behave. It is also signposted at the entrance as a warning. In my town the mall offers 2 hours free parking, but due to youngsters using it as a place to drift their cars at night, they had to install an automatic system that reads plates. So after the mall closes at night you have to pay. Kind of silly as there are a few DC fast chargers there as well that nobody will use at night. Also not sure how it works if you have to go to the fuel pumps at night.
@@Gazer75 I imagine so, or there's no point in having the law, since all the chargers are on somebody's land. Walmart certainly call the Police if they catch a shoplifter, so I imagine the Police also have the authority to enforce other laws. I haven't gone into it in huge depth, but you're welcome to do your own research.
This is exactly what 'nay sayers' go on about. We have not had to use public chargers yet but its this type of thing that concerns me on long trips. I would just not bother considering them in my planning.
I suppose there could be some sort of arrangement where you can't even get into the charging space without the right credentials. Might we seeing that emerging?
These spots should be on the other side of the lot....putting them right in front is a recipe for this time of behavior. We already see what drivers do to handicapped spots. There was one like this in my area at a Kroger, operated by Volta/Shell. Spots were really tight, ICE drivers were parking wrong, and I used it once and never again. The publix nearby have theirs on the far end of the lot and it helps immensely.
Hi Dave, Lidl need to take a leaf out of Aldi ev charger book and use chargers were you have to use your own charger lead. As I have now come across two Lidl stores in Sheffield where the charger cable have been stolen and haven’t been replaced. It’s possible that the cable did get replaced but have been stolen again. We have never needed to use any ev chargers in Sheffield as we live on the outskirts and wouldn’t be uneconomical to use them as home charging is the cheapest way to charge. Did you think if we come across a idiot parking on a ev charging bay with petrol or diesel vehicle, is to take a photo of the vehicle registration number on post on the net under headline ( do you know this inconsiderate person ) this is probably the same person who would park in disabled parking bay without a Blue Badge. Dave keep up the good work
You don't seem to understand the different types of chargers. Rapids have cables attached and have CHAdeMO or CCS. Fast chargers 3.3 to 22 kW AC don't have a cable attached and use type 2 sockets to plug into.
Hi, Dave nice to meet with you and your Son yesterday here at Aldi. For more then two years I used these Shell units at the other Aldi store on Blackpool Road Preston, I always used the Shell RFID card and it worked perfectly. I received 22kW even though the app says they are only 11kW, But in recent months they were only giving out 7kW so I no longer use them. Glad you liked my car 😍
Hi Gary, yes I didn't recognise you at first with that new car. At my age it's easier to remember cars than people. Really great looking. I was impressed. If you're up for it I could use it as a feature in a Video.
They don't want you to charge do they? They make sure everything puts you off. Low speed, bad position for ICE blocking and a terrible customer experience. Makes you wonder what is in the meat pies.
I would say you would think the stores would be fining people as it's costing them revenue but maybe it's just Aldi's business model advertise cheap charging to get EV drivers onsite and then make sure the chargers are either blocked by ICE cars or not working so no one can take advantage of the cheap charging?
As a ICE driver, I can only apologise for an absolute idiot selfish driver, probably the same sort of person who parks in two spaces. But there is always selfish people out there. But this shows how much fafing about to charge, like you must have your mobile and have the apps, let alone what if I want to pay cash?. I much prefer the petrol station experience choice of ways to pay and takes less than 5 mins of my expensive time. Plus for the elderly and disabled there is always staff at most petrol stations to help wear needed.
Was thinking of looking at the new Kia EV3 when out but just not sure about the charging problems. This video has made up my mind that I am not ready for all this noncense. Just given bank notice to withdraw cash for new car but it will be a Toyota Hybrid. One day it may be an EV but I am not ready for this and I don't think millions of others are. Everyone should watch this video. Filled up my older hybrid today and could have paid at the pump with card or gone to cashier - a 3 minute job that a school kid could do. EV infrastructure is just not there yet. It should all be standardised and simple without phone apps and memberships. What a complete mess.
Same type of person who probably parks in a disabled bay or kids only bay, should be fined and points added, there is no law to prevent this on private land.
I'm a big fan of cameras. There should also be a Wall Of Shame-for everyone, for every reason. Privacy is over-rated. Hey, I'm as confrontational as the next guy, maybe more. But when you're dealing with strangers, in very anonymous settings, it's just not a good idea to confront if you can help it. Just get information, and spread it. Names. Car tags. Video, if possible. Audio, all the better.
We need more chargers in popular tourist destinations in public car parks. 2-3hrs is not enough. These are ok but unless they allow parking overnight they're not a lot of use.
Thanks, huge waste of investment by Aldi, they will never be used. We regular EV owners never bother with these, hard to connect and slow if you do manage. Tesco podpoint are good. Parking in an EV bay by ICE is common, we have numerous BP charge points near me, always blocked, no enforcement, not too much of a problem as they probably will not work anyway.
Yup I agree I have a local Aldi which has exactly these two 11KW chargers. The Shell Recharge App doesn’t locate the charger, the QR doesn’t work and when I tried the last option as they are no longer sending out Shell RFID cards I tried my Electroverse card and unfortunately it worked as I missed that it charges over 2.5 times the price of Shell Recharge! £0.65 per KW and 1.5 hours parking limit so barely worth the risk of incurring a parking ticket!!!
Whoever designs Aldi car parks needs sacking they are always so terrible. And now with EV charging at the entrance it’s asking for trouble. They probs don’t even care and just box ticking to get a charger in whether it works or not.
thanks for a very informative video, you have just confirmed to me on how much of a waste of time this ev con is,talk about jumping through hoops, eleictric wont ever be the way if they dont sort out the charging game, and it sure looks like a game.no not for me
@@alancole9 if you can charge at home, you'll be motoring at less than 2p a mile. AC charging at supermarkets used to work nicely when it was free. You're doing your shopping and in that half an hour, you've probably replaced the energy that it's taken for you to get there. Supermarket was happy, because you'd probably hung about longer than you might've done otherwise and bought a few extra items. Problem is that since the energy crisis, wild EV charging has remained very expensive making it difficult to understand a case for AC supermarket charging at all. I'd be surprised if any of them are used if they're not in some sort of tourist destination. It's just not practical to leave the car charging for long enough to get any meaningful amount of charge. What's really needed is DC rapid chargers which are cheap and reliable. Fortunately Tesla are already there to help with the supercharger network.
@@davidilm3752 Exactly. Until public charging infrastructure works efficiently the practicality of EV ownership for drivers relying 100% on public charging means that an EV is not a realistic option.
Once again you choose to miss the point. Most public EV chargers work well, reliably and most at a half decent cost. My videos are designed to focus on those that don't. In other words get them all working well and cheaply. One video deliberately finding one that performs badly is not a viable excuse not to buy an EV and if you let it, without doing your own research in your specific area, then you really are falling for media hype over facts. Probably best not to buy an EV yet.
I did not choose to miss the point, in fact your video just points out some of the hurdles facing owners looking to drive an EV without the ability to charge at home. Firstly the ridiculously complicated way to pay for the charge. I realise that obviously the charges point cannot accept cash, but why not a simple card reader? My local petrol station has had them on every pump for as long as I can remember and they are simple to use and reliable. Even buskers in the Tube have them so it cannot be beyond the capability of charging companies to install them. I don't always carry my telephone with me for various reasons, but if I had to rely upon downloading apps and setting up accounts, then I don't think much of the future. As for most public charges working well and reliably, I suppose that depends where you are in the country. In the small town where I am we have 2 chargers in the local supermarket, both of which are out of order and have been for several months. There are 2 more chargers in the local civic centre car park, but that has a time limit of 90 minutes and is locked from 6.00 pm until 8.00am on weekdays, and closed at weekends. The nearest Tesla supercharger is 10 miles away and not open to all drivers. If you can charge at home none of this matters, if you rely upon public chargers 100% then it is a big problem. And that does not even begin to include the very high prices you have to pay for public charging.
EV chargers in locations like these where you’re likely to run into parking limits, should include parking as part of the charge, As I mentioned earlier, you get 90 minutes in the car park and then you get a parking invoice, even if on the charger. If they ever get them working again.
There are two Aldi locations very close to me with these type of chargers and they charge my car at over 9kw/h and costs 25p a kw/h. Unfortunately for the last few weeks they wont work. The payment website is not accepting card payments, the contactless wont work. When you call the number given on the website they say they cant help you and don’t have any information. Completely useless. Stay over 90 minutes and Aldi will send you a parking invoice too.
For 25p it's rude too not to. If they work. If they aren't consistent, people just won't bother attempting. Luckily for me Cupra is at the beginning of the alphabet.
The qr code is tiny, too low on the side of the chargers like a manufacturers sticker rather than instructions. Useless in the dark. Should be at chest height on the pole it’s mounted on. I’ve just checked the chargers in Aldi Yeovil and they are the same 25p but only 7kwh.
Love your vlogs but don't cast off RFID they are invaluable when you have no connectivity or the apps are down for maintenance you just tap and charge so so easy. Go to a remote charger in Scotland and use your mobile, all I will say is good luck. Also as a note contactless will not work without connectivity but RFID will.
What they should start doing is installing Automatic Plate Recognition cameras and issue a ticket to anyone thats park on ev charging spot.Been on three bppulse chargers today non of them work.Anyone got the same experience ?

Bays will always be iced when they are so close & convenient to supermarket entrance. If new chargers won’t work we’re doomed 😂
If you place them next to the entrance there will ALWAYS be:
- an entitled ICE driver just blocking it
- an entitled EV owner with a fully-charged battery
- someone with a "handicap" badge if there were none of THOSE free
These are unlikely to be a long-term solution ANYWAY unless Shell gets a LOT more serious with them
block him in and tell him you were waiting for him to finish charging 😊😊
Wow, owning an ev looks like a pleasure.
It’s probably why they are only 25p, Price will go up when they work.
😂 probably
🤣🤣🤣
@@RenlangRen get Electroverse and just ignore those that don't support it.
Mr Black Merc driver may benefit from 4 tyre valves being unscrewed. You want to park there...Stay there!
It's almost like shell don't want EV's to work! I wonder why.
The Merc driver was no better parking without charging
Therein lies the problem with a lot of AC charge points, by the time you've plugged in your own cable and got it to work you just waste a load of time. Rapid chargers tend to be a lot more reliable. The amount of time you'd have wasted figuring it out vs the amount of charge you'd actually get from an 11kW charger whilst doing a shop is just not worth it!
Exactly the same at Stoke-on-Trent Aldi. When i contacted the Shell helpline they said the chargers were offline, no reason given, just offline.
Good points Dave and I discussed these with Jonas off camera at the location while filming.
@@markbennett6658 I tried using a few bank cards none would work.
@@markbennett6658 I tried using a few bank cards none would work.
Why aren't the stores using outside parking companies to fine these idiots for parking in ev charging zones, even the ev next to Daves was parked and not charging he should no better
The new govt regulations state that all chargers 8kW and above must be contactless??
It's the same story with parent and child bays! There needs to be some penalty like with disabled bays or this will keep happening. Good video Dave, hopefully this gets back to the Aldi head office and is sorted asap.
AC charging at stores like this makes no sense. At big shopping malls where you may stay for hours is a different matter.
Stores where you're done in 15-20 minutes need DC fast chargers. Kempower is perfect in these places as the satellites are small and the charger rack can be easier to place outside the lots.
I take it the idiots parked in the EV space because the disabled spaces were full and these were the next nearest spaces.
It's like a karen refusing to move her car from handicapped designated parking space.
Britain today. Enough said
Pod Points at Lidl and Tesco work! The ones on the Prom in Douglas, IoM work too!
Those are some very narrow parking stalls, at least where your Model S was.
One of our grocery stores has a 12-stall Supercharger out back. Plug in, back in 15 min, car 1/2 charged. Easy. No ICE drivers because in back.
I noticed that the parking bays are quite narrow.
Looks to me like you can't charge your car without a smart phone. That would rule me out completely.
I couldn't be bothered with this. Download multitude of apps and faffing around with settings. Nah. I charge at home and use Tesla superchargers.
Dave, they have done exactly the same at Interspar, Lidl and Aldi near me in Hungary. Chargers near to the door, 4-8 bays and often iced. Infuriating.
Thats MacMaster's brother🤣
I use them at the new Swinfen Vale development at Ellistown, Leicester, all 4 plugs are 7kw. Useless for the 30 mins in store.....
Firstly on the Shell Recharge app it doesn't show the chargers at my local aldi. I don't use the but I do use the Shell Recharge RFID CARD ALSO OCTOPUS RFID CARD
UNTIL COUNCILS IMPOSE FINES ON ICE CARS INCLUDING ANY EV DRIVERS WHO DON'T CHARGE.
Thanks for the info, I am trying to establish a common practice. The manager there didn't want anything to do with it.
To be fair to the guy in the black car, you didn't actually use the charger either hehe heheh
It had to be a Mercedes, BMW or Audi didn’t it.
Everyone get the charge saint app and report overtime you see an iced incident
They don't want you to charge do they? They make sure everything puts you off. Low speed, bad position for ICE blocking and a terrible customer experience. Makes you wonder what is in the meat pies.
Go to a Shell petrol station with an EV , pull up to a petrol pump and see how long it takes for the manager to come out….not long.
Thats what we see in the Netherlands often too.
Mostly ICE Mercedes or BMW riders parking at EV charging places. Now why would that be ?
If they dont work, then anyone can park there, right ?
I would say you would think the stores would be fining people as it's costing them revenue but maybe it's just Aldi's business model advertise cheap charging to get EV drivers onsite and then make sure the chargers are either blocked by ICE cars or not working so no one can take advantage of the cheap charging?
I used to use Aldi / Shell but I use the card, their transaction charge was 29p
They really shouldn't be that close to the store 🤷
Any supermarket charger i have been to does NOT work.
I see a new business patrolling car parks ticketing non charging vehicles. Only need permission from the land owner
Dave - These shell ones at prenton Aldi are the same. I go sealand road Chester Aldi using bp pulse at their car park, free charging. Crazy
Very good ice car driver, however white merc wasn't charging either lol
Why in the UK are we surprised to find one or two charges at a supermarket..How far behind EU we now are😂
Video encapsulates why if you can't charge at home, you shouldn't get an EV...
Whoever designs Aldi car parks needs sacking they are always so terrible. And now with EV charging at the entrance it’s asking for trouble.
They probs don’t even care and just box ticking to get a charger in whether it works or not.
They see me (not) Charging, they hating.
thanks for a very informative video, you have just confirmed to me on how much of a waste of time this ev con is,talk about jumping through hoops, eleictric wont ever be the way if they dont sort out the charging game, and it sure looks like a game.no not for me
@@alancole9 if you can charge at home, you'll be motoring at less than 2p a mile.
My I point out the mercedes ev not plugged in either?
Shit, i have a volvo, will be scrolling for hours 😂
Ninja Dave! Keep safe out there Dave. Some people are very unpredictable!
I might be one of them Grasshopper.
Only charges at 11kw or 22kw- it would take forever to charge. Would work to add 10 miles rate while you shop to get you home.
Shell can say that they have installed x number of chargers in their annual Corporate Sustainability Reports for the media to repeat.
This has to be the best reason not to buy an EV. As for ICE vehicles parking in the charging bays they may as well, after all the chargers don't work!
The best reason to not buy an EV? Well we can see you level of thinking in that statement alone.
Needs big signs ... NO PARKING ... EV Charging only. A lift and tow truck would soon earn its keep. I've seen a few altercations and one punch-up
There are two Aldi locations very close to me with these type of chargers and they charge my car at over 9kw/h and costs 25p a kw/h. Unfortunately for the last few weeks they wont work. The payment website is not accepting card payments, the contactless wont work. When you call the number given on the website they say they cant help you and don’t have any information. Completely useless. Stay over 90 minutes and Aldi will send you a parking invoice too.
I never carry my cables, adds weight and I always charge at home. If I go on a long journey, then I put my cable in the boot❤
For 25p it's rude too not to. If they work. If they aren't consistent, people just won't bother attempting.
Luckily for me Cupra is at the beginning of the alphabet.
Or a BMW i3
@@michaeldawson6309 even better.
