    I have a suggestion for making the cutting easier. Mark two lines a 1/4" apart from each other on each side. Cut the inside lines first, remove the center section then cut the next two lines off rather than grinding the metal down. Then slip the bolted together flanges back on, cheat the crossmember to the center of the 1/4" space so there is an 1/8" reveal on the inside of each flange and tack all four flanges, after removal there will be space for a full inside weld all the way around.

    Bro i love your vids and they are so timely! I appreciate them! I am glad i saw this as im in the middle of my cam swap ( 2013 ZL1 vert) and was thinking about dropping the pan( its lowered anyway to do the oilpump pickup) and id like to remove the oil psi relief in the pan you showed recently idid not know was there! Great work sir!! Im not on the forum much, can you message me the contact info for those plates?
    Also what are you up to that you need access to the pan? Curious👍 Awesome car and many thanks for filming , i can show my son what were about to get into before we do lol.

      Thanks bro, I only made contact to CFD on Camaro5 through their PM. It took him a while to get them to me mostly I think because he didn't have any made up. I don't have an inside number or anything for him and I'm pretty sure he only takes PayPal. I'm just doing a few things that I should've done the first time I did the cam. Thanks for the comment.

    Couldn't one just drop the engine with the subframe?

    • @fasnuf
      @fasnuf  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you dropped the whole subframe down, you would still have to lift the engine off the subframe to remove te pan.

    • @timw8228
      @timw8228 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@fasnuf I believe the shop that worked on my Camaro a couple of weeks ago to drop the oil pan to put a deflector on the high pressure relief valve they had to support the engine from above then unbolt the subframe to drop it out of the way of the pan. I know what engineer clown at GM ever thought of putting a cross member like that in the way.
