Welcome to my in-depth review and showcase of Bridlen Shoes.
A relative newcomer from India making entry level, value goodyear welted shoes.
Bridlen has a few different ranges, but today we are looking at the main collection ($265) and the more upgraded Founder's Line ($315).
Overall, a great entry with a promising future and materials for the price point but also a lot of things to polish and improve in the future.

Hi Kostas, nice and detailed review. Their rubber soles are better balanced IMO. The toe area definitely needs working. Their MTOs allow little bit of customisation makes things more interesting for enthusiasts and bring a lot of value for the customers…
Sure but I paid $150 in imports duties, The value was lost there. For other regions in the world, it might be better but it’s tough for Europeans!
great review, and like i said on the blog i hope they take all the criticism seriously, they got something really nice going on and these minor issues solved would make them the great offering they can be at their price range :)

It would be AMAZING if you did your “becoming a bespoke shoemaker” in video format as some concepts are difficult to understand through text only. I am trying to begin my journey of becoming a shoe maker and have begun amassing the tools I need. A detailed video series would be invaluable as there are no longer colleges in the US that offer courses in shoe making.
It’s in the plans but I need a workshop space where I can work consistently and in peace! Soon I hope!

My friend your comparing a $250 shoe to your bespoke shoe. Is that a fair comparison? What are you going to be charging for your shoes? when comparing anything you should compare apples to apples. There really isn’t much competition in the $250 price range for Goodyear welding and leather souls with full grain leather uppers. For what they’re charging I think they’re doing very well. as soon as the quality starts to go up, so will the price.
They have taken the feedback and they are constantly improving their quality. They are great people and thirsty for success. I admire that.
Completely agreed with you on balance and proportions! This is something that constantly bugs me and i’m glad im not the only one! The Carmina heel blocks for example, are always too long in terms of proportions.
Love your bespoke pair as well. Amazing craftsmanship for someone who has only been at it for a few months!

I have ordered their founders line shoes. I'm curious to see how I'll get on with them. I have tried on a pair of oxfords in the same last and I liked the fit. What I'm a particular fan of is the fact they do have cordovan leathers. Another brand called Yearn, from at least what I seen, they just don't do cordavan leather. They probably would in the $1000 usd price point.
If I like their shoes, I'd probably get a pair of cordovan chelsea boots
I do think their designs are very plain for my own liking, but because of that. I actually quite like them for their boots and monkstraps.
I am a bigger fan of Enzo bonafe for those cordovan prices.

Hey Kostas, your bespoke shoe is looking very nice indeed; if you ever need to make a bespoke shoe, and you're desperate for a, say UK 10 F to G, quite flat arch..........I could be persuaded to let you make up my lasts ;-)

For anyone in the UK, there's a company called arterton , they have very limited Bridlen shoes. But at least you get the benefits of a return policy and even on demand stock. I would go with them to see if it will fit you well, then buy directly if it makes you happy.
This is correct, their collaboration started around December if I remember correctly
