Sofrito is key everybody! Don’t bother making beans without some 😭

Oil
Sofrito
Tomato sauce - Tomato paste works too
Fresh garlic
Potatoes
Garlic power, Adobo, sazón, beef bouillon, oregano, cilantro flakes, & pepper. Do not add salt!! The adobo and sazón are saltyyyyy.

You should name the ingredients that you are using, so other people can make this recipe.
She basically used sazon adobo sophrito tomato sauce from a can garlic black pepper an added potatoes (slice) black pepper.
That’s basically the cheap easy way.
Sofrito is bell pepper onion Cilantro culantro and garlic anything else added is extra and unique to the family. Feel free to make spicy by adding some chilies. And instead of tomato sauce you can just chop fresh tomatoes and cook them in with the sofrito ingredients with little water so it becomes a paste once it becomes a paste you can add whatever seasonings you like and toast the season paste for like 1-2 min be careful not to burn if it starts to just add little bits of water until it becomes tempered. Once the spices are precooked add your beans and potatoes mix add a little more water as shown then cook until the potatoes are cooked and check for salt periodically because potatoes absorb a lot of salt.

@@kimmie1957I use tomato sauce because that’s how my mom used to make it but she didn’t use bouillon…she used adobo which to me gives enough flavor. I guess it’s all personal preference.
You can also make this by deconstructing the sofrito into large chunks of cilantro/culantro, bell pepper, garlic, onion, tomato and putting in a piece of ham or previously cooked chicken for flavor. Fast easy and amazing. Rustic style. It works beautifully to doctor up some beans quickly when people are too lazy and about to serve some bland food. I even add a small piece of lime peel. At the end I pick out any inedible stems, bay leaves and peels. I've seen others cook this way in TH-cam, so I know I'm not the only one 😅

This is the first time I’ve ever heard someone say that. I make my own n even if it’s frozen, I’m chiseling away cause I’m never using store bought again. Homemade tastes 1000x better but this comment made me lol.😂
