  • In this video, I build a custom single rail bike hitch rack for my MTB. I use some old Thule parts as well as some new RockyMounts parts after welding some steel tubing, metal end caps and some bent 3/8" metal rod for a wheel holder. Lastly after fabrication is finished, I have it powder coated to keep it from rusting. I think this will be the best bike rack for me, I've been thinking about it for years. It took me some time to get started on my DIY project, but I've been looking for a reason to head out into the work shop to weld.

    *I was expecting a lot of shortcuts to be taken at this price. I was wrong. Decent quality **Latest.Bike** raker . Easy on easy off.*

    That is a work of art, indeed.

    The way you bent that steel rod was impressive. Nice work. People (including myself) tend to over weld everything. This is a nice simple design

    That looks really nice, man! I do a ton of woodworking but have not taken the jump to welding and metal working yet even thought it would come in handy for a lot of my projects. I think now is the time think a bit harder about doing just that. Thanks for the video.

    This looks great! The next step would be to fill that center tube with compressed air and you have yourself a nice compressed air tank!

    That is a beautiful piece of work. I'm sure you have people asking you all the time, "where can I get one of those?" It looks factory-built.

      Thank you! Yes, I've had a few people ask me to build them one.

    Was thinking about doing the same thing but make it so I can add a extension for more bikes to that end tube. But make it removable so I can take it off when riding solo

    Nice job! I'm curious about the digital angel finder. Does it have a magnet base?

      Yes, on the sides and the base.

    Looks great! Thinking of doing same but don't have a clamping mechanism for front tire. Price of that new is too much. Got any ideas!

      Thanks. What about a company like Rocky Mounts? Have you priced that part out with them? Maybe find something used on ebay? Good luck!

      Thanks, I appreciate it! I'm still pretty much a beginner at fabrication and I have a ridiculous amount of time in building this. At this point I think the amount of time it would take me to build it, would far exceed its monetary value.

    • @57moto59
      @57moto59  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lol. Thanks, but the time it takes me to make a one off like this would be way too expensive to be worth all the time I have in it.
