  • This is a really balanced set of pepper/chili pepper varieties with 8 being sweet peppers and 9 being hot pepper varieties. Through the video, I share what I'm using a lot of these peppers for. I also share one that I won't be growing next year. These were all grown from seed!

    Nice tour. My ancho plant has only produced a few. I'm going to over winter it and see if it can do better next year. My 7 year old Anaheim is still cranking out huge amounts peppers.

    Great looking garden. Productivity of a pepper plant is determined at least in part by its genetics. I'm a pepper nut as well. I have several different types of variegated Jalapeno I am am growing as well as variegated poblano hybrids. I like the striping that comes with the variegated genes. Thanks for sharing your garden.

      @HardCandy-fd4vzPepper seed, or any seed really, can make improvements as you select for those that do best in your area or climate.
      The trick to selecting better plants/seeds is to grow enough plants out to make meaningful selections each year for your climate/zone/area. If you are unable to grow enough to make good selections your grow outs can show detrimental results as the years progress and worse and worse selections are made in part at least to not having enough plants to make good selections.

    You have a ton of really cool varieties doing really well. The bad tips and sides of a couple of those peppers may not be pests. We have seen it before over here and if the same is a form of blossom end rot. It can happen with uneven watering and access to too much damp like the tips of the BM touching wet ground or the bigger one crowded and wet on bottom for an extended period. Not a guarantee that is what it is but looks alot like it. Most don't know peppers can get BER too. That Lesya pepper is a cool shape and high on our 'grow bucket' list. Love videos like this. Makes a brainmelting brainstorm. Thanks for the share!

    • @emilygardening
      @emilygardening  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks so much for your thoughts! The tip damage does often happen to the low lying ones. Plus, it's decently humid over here in Georgia. I had never considered that or BER. The lesya is a great, quick producer. I don't like them when they're green at all. The texture and flavor are totally different (and I usually am happy with green peppers).

    Nice collection of peppers my friend! I don't grow super hots myself - habanaro is about the hottest I will grow. In fact, I sent my scorpion and ghost seeds to a friend just so I wouldn't be tempted to grow them.

    @donaldmclaughlin1832 ปีที่แล้ว

    If you trim them to grow how you want you can up the production and strengthen the plant as it will grow more bushy instead of concentrating on hight.

    • @emilygardening
      @emilygardening  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Funny enough, we had a late frost last year that burned the tops of several of my plants last year and kind of pruned them for me.
      😅 I didn't see a major production difference on those plants vs ones I left alone. Maybe I'll try to intentionally do that some day!

    • @donaldmclaughlin1832
      @donaldmclaughlin1832 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@emilygardening it's easy but you want to be strategic a little. Just look it up, if done right you multiply the fruitation locations every time you clip. Of course early in vegetative so the potential will be seen in the end.
      I usually trim each one three times at various heights or times. The amount you trim doesn't slow the vegetative growth because you clip such small amounts at the right time. Then all the nutrition goes where you want.

    • @donaldmclaughlin1832
      @donaldmclaughlin1832 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@emilygardening it's basically every trim location will branch to two. So really pepper plants usually one good timed one will do because most bush out naturally anyways.

  • @supplementalhorsey4510

    Might just be normal end rot in those red/purple ones, then the bugs move in and look around inside the pepper after that happens. 🤒 At least I see them doing that to a few of my similar-sized cayennes sometimes. 🤔
