This saw is fantastic. Good point with the dust removal, BTW, it really keeps your line clear, though it pumps a ton of dust, it's better out the side than on your cut line.
radar 211 Absolutely no excuse for the dust extraction on this saw it could had been put on the very back and had a swivel so you could point it anywhere you want........ but typical dewalt doesn’t test there products properly we have found many many things wrong with a lot of there tool’s Most are really good but almost all of them have one really really annoying thing about it that should have been picked up in testing
@@MrJak427 the same could basically be said about any tool or anything at all if you think about it. When it comes to people's opinions there's always gonna be some that are negative no matter what. Just go on Amazon and look at any product that has more than like 3 reviews, and you'll find a 1 star review on just about everything. The main thing with the dust removal on this guy is the fact that it shoots it somewhere other than right in front of the blade so you can't see your cut line. I've never seen a tool that had it's dust removal on a swivel for you to aim in any direction you desire.
Hi. Joel Lucatero a guy at work has a Milwaukee’s 18v planner you can choose which side of the tool the chips spit out with the flip of the switch it’s that easy.... I agree everyone has an opinion on every tool they use. My main gripe with dewalt is on some/a lot of their professional tools they all have a certain thing that usually hampers the tool that is sooo obvious that it will really make you wonder if a trades person ever laid hands on it before it was released. 90% of my tools are dewalt too so this is not a milwaukee is better than X-brand post.... I own this saw and can name 4 things that should have been fixed in testing/development on this saw.
@@MrJak427 that would make some sense why I've never seen that before, I dont ever use planers for the type of work I do. And I get your point about disliking certain things on the tools. I guess what I was trying to get at, for example, if DeWalt made the four changes to this saw that you feel would improve it, I feel like I can pretty much guarantee that someone else would come along who disagrees with one or two of those changes. So even though now it was perfect to one buyer, another guy is trying to talk people out of trying it for themself. Often times, but not always, it's more about personnel preference than something actually being wrong with the tool.
@@MrJak427 I own mostly DeWalt myself, but I'm also a fan of others. So when I do an online reviews or something, I try to base my response solely on the tools performance and durability. Cuz I hate when I'm on like Amazon or HD.com and I see 1star or 2star reviews and you read them and it's the complaint is something completely unuseful to say someone choosing between options. Like "oh it arrived in a damaged box, 1 star." Like how did that affect the performance? Lol. Or "I don't like the blade being on the right side, 1 star." It's like well didn't you look at the picture before you ordered it?
I'm a production framer, the saw delivers power and accuracy. I have used typical corded saws like "skillsaw makita" and this bad boy is up there in quality. My only initial issue was dealing with the safety button in the beginning. Great product very convenient not joisting or roof cutting with out a cord.
I bought this saw off amazon about 2 week ago . I love this saw. Lots of power, good balance and weight. Only one downside. The way the sawdust comes out of the hole in the blade shroud, it will dump the dust right in your left boot if you are right handed. Never noticed my skilsaw doing that, lol. And, the blade that comes with it is garbage, but that's normal. It will build a 400 square ft plywood walkout deck and 15 riser stair on one battery so I can live without the cord. And dust in my boot.
I bought the circular saw version. Wish I got the worm drive because it is left and not right. I did not know the difference at the time. But I love the 60v circular saw with my Diablo Blade. It beats my corded one. I was cutting up some scrap wood and did not realize there was metal on the other side. It sliced through the wood and metal like it was plain white pine.
Tool Review Zone I was totally in awe when I realized it cut through metal and wood. What's nice is the 60V is backwards compatible with the 20V. Here's the big thing. I upgrades to the 60v from an 18v I received in 2000 from a gift when I got married. Dewalt is doing great. I looked at going to Milwaukee but could not pass up that saw.
I've done a few dewalt reviews this past month and have really became a fan of their stuff this far. We will have more starting next month, and excited about some of the new tools they are coming out with.
@@kwalton357 Can you explain in more detail about the 60v being backwards compatable w the 20V? I have 20V MAX dewalt tools with the matched "Fast Charger". Thinking about getting the DCS 577 or 578 60v soon? Can I use the 60v in my 20v tools or will it burn up my tools?
@@toddrhine7648 it would be a wast of money. The 60 will switch to 20 on 20v tools. The true benefit is when it is hooked up to a 60v tool. Go to DeWalts website and read about the flexvolt.
Great saw! The issue is if you use it in the rain the battery will get wet and corrode the electronics and will not charge, junk. The dust blows in your face they need to fix it. Also.......Set your blade depth to about 1/8" when cutting you'll have more control and more saw blade teeth will cut into the wood, just trying to help.
How is it wormdrive if the motor is perpendicular to the blade?!? Looks like a sidewinder with a rear handle made to look like a wormdrive. I know it's a killer saw and performs great. But I don't agree with calling it a wormdrive. Wormdrive have a work gear making the 90 deg turn to then spin the blade.... Can someone explain this to me.
It's a rear handle style saw dewalt like to over sale. Worm drive refers to the style of motor and how it transfers power from motor to blade. BTW makita's 7 1/4 battery operated is better all around
19 lbs!?! Even 14 lbs... Holy crap. Cordless has it's place but my new skilsaw wormdrive spt77wml is 11.4 lbs, but has a cord. Lol. I do have the XR 20v circ saw for things that need to be done with a cordless. Not as powerful as this or the flex volt sidewinder, but handles 2 sheets thick plywood 3/4" thick just fine. 2x material it eats just fine. If I was at all invested in the flexvolt line I'd ju.p on this saw. But heavily into the 20v and works for what I need them to do.
54V is the European name while 60V max is the American one. Both are 60V max but European descriptions name the overall voltage (54) while American descriptions are allowed to name the max. voltage it can reach (60). Hope I could help.
It is good but lighter battery options are needed. Would be a challenge to do overhead work with this saw. Even the sidewinder version is too heavy for some things. A corded version or adapter may be of some value.
Man im a milwaukee guy but damn that saw is nice everything i want in a cordless saw wormdrive, 71/4 blade, power, braking system, sky hook, all metal base man i want it but hesitant because im invest in milwaukees battery line come on milwaukee please make one of these i need one
Thumb up for the review. This saw has been out 4 years already? How does it compare to the beast, Skill 77 corded saw? I'll bet it doesn't have that kind of torque? I like the blade guard and dust exhaust. I haven't worked construction in a long while but I wouldn't mind owning one of these.
I have to admit I kinda agree with you. Other have mentioned this as well, but also been getting hammered with saw dust from this, especially with a small breeze.
dewalts blades are better then diablo for sure. diablo is too thin only good for this saw and worm drive that u knock diamond out middle, they bend at that spot otherwise in certain saws.
Adam McKenzie I've used Diablo in all my saws for years. Never had an issue. The thin you speak of is called thin kerf. Less width means less material being taken out which makes the cut better. Just cause the blade is 1/16" vs 1/8 doesnt always mean it will be faster. And faster doesnt always mean better. Diablo blades wear out much faster then dewalt ones we find. Maybe it depends the work u do. Diablo is good, love many of their other blades. But the low end ones for circ saws just dont compare to the dewalts . Diablo would have to be replaced once a week to keep its speed up
