What people always forget (perhaps including Shatner himself) is that this is a moment of acting by KIRK, not just by William Shatner. Kirk wants Khan to think he's won, but he's actually the one in control.
Thank goodness Jeffrey Hunter bowed out after the pilot. Some thought the role wasn't big enough for Hunter. Shatner gave the role a permanent place in history.
One of William Shatner's great gifts is to work beyond his image and his fame, put into perspective, and not take it too seriously. That alone is an unusual talent. Kudos Bill. Take another bow.
I seriously cant believe Shatner is 90. To me he is 70 at most. As much as I love Star Trek, I think my favorite role of his might be Nightmare at 20,000 ft in the Twilight Zone 😁
I will always respect William Shatner mainly because I enjoyed STOS as well as Nimoy, Kelly, etc in reruns of the 70's. Although one or two of his costars may have had a little headbutt on occasion he will always be captain of the USS Enterprise, no disrespect to future captains who I admire also but "Captain Kirk " rings through the ages. And humble as he claims in viewing himself in past Trek footage he has no reason to be ,he was a very handsome man in the day. I have many other similar stars I admire but because I live on the other side of the world I will never get to even say Hi to them. Most respect William Shatner.
All Shatner fights are great but I prefer the pinnacle engine room fight with Kahn if I had to name one. It's so immediate as he fights for the life of his ship in real time against a suicidal mad man!
the truth is the guy has an amazing talent hes kinda been kicked around alot but , even with all that. look what hes accomplished you put this guy in the right role, hes about the best in the world and even though that hasent happened enough times hes done a load of things no one has even come close to doing just look at star trek alone, a low ratings sixties TV show that ran three years that becomes this gigantic iconic thing how many other times did that happen? look at his albums, whos ever done anything like those masterpieces i dont see lawrence oliver or robert dinero pulling that kinda thing off it should be recognized that the guy is a huge performing talent with an unprecedented level of artistic courage AND HES 90 YEARS OLD AND LOOK AT HIM the only role hes unfit to play is a ninty year old man AND HE IS ONE
I know a lot of people don't like Shatner, but I always thought he was fun. Ego? Yeah, he had tons, but I think that issue is pretty common in the industry.
Yeah, i remember that now many years after i watched the movie, it looked like it was a video screen and when he opens the door it turns out to be a window in the door.
This was so cool on him talking about things he did on tv! Their have been tons of rare broadway performances appearing on youtube wayyy before star trek...he was an amazing actor in his plays! I wonder if he knows about them being uploaded online.
@@rosemaryheilemann2229 Was going to say that then saw your comment. There's a video on TH-cam of him doing a scene from "The World of Suzie Wong" with France Nuyen years before they appeared together on "Elaan of Troyius" in Star Trek.
Give him whatever he wants -- I want a video commentary track on every original Star Trek episode. He says he's never watched an episode, so it would be interesting.
William was so georgious when he was younger no wonder he hates watching himself but he is still a great person and he had a lot of guts to go up in a rocket for real at the age of 90 Incredible.👽
Maybe he doesn't like watching himself because he knows what a ham he is. Maybe it embarrasses him a little bit, and makes him self conscious. I love the guy!
I saw Shatner in 1978 when he was out of work and doing an appearance during a “The New York Philharmonic plays Star Wars” show. They had him in a spotlight reading the last pages of Arthur C Clarkes “Childhoods End” which he did in dramatic Shatner fashion.
I loved to watch a larger enemy grab Kirk in a bear hug, intending to break Jim's back. He'd break out the double chop to the neck and immediately be released. Classic.
Would have been interesting to see a clip of Star Trek's Devil In The Dark as Shatner's father died during production and he insisted on staying until his work was finished.
This man is 90 years old!!! He's in such incredible health!
Must be all that poutine.
Its hard to believe its the same person !!! As always actors seem to be disappointing in real life.
Bones is an excellent physician.
Wow! If that's what space travel does to you then sign me up! 😄
Better than Patrick Stewart 😪
What a guy. At his age, you just gotta love his "Well, I did my best" attitude.
What a handsome devil he was back in tos
The thing is he was gorgeous wasn't he 3.22 and that is how he will always remain.😍
He the MAN - Everyone
Bill, I enjoyed it.
Greetings from Germany.
He is the oldest 50 year old person on the planet :D
William Shatner was star trek nobody will replace him
People parody and revisit the "KAHHHHHNNNNNNNN!" moment because it's wonderful and they love it.
Yeah it's an iconic moment. Whenever I see someone parody it, it means that person saw and remembered it long after!
What people always forget (perhaps including Shatner himself) is that this is a moment of acting by KIRK, not just by William Shatner. Kirk wants Khan to think he's won, but he's actually the one in control.
@@suedenim Hours instead of days! Now we have minutes instead of hours!
He's the dude playing the dude putting on an act for another dude.
For Star Trek, William was the "RIGHT MAN IN THE RIGHT PLACE AT THE RIGHT TIME."
Thank goodness Jeffrey Hunter bowed out after the pilot. Some thought the role wasn't big enough for Hunter. Shatner gave the role a permanent place in history.
The Gorn fight was the most brutal, incredible brawl ever captured on the silver screen.
Nah, the fight with Finnegan in 'Shore Leave' is more brutal and goes across and Ad break (with bonus ripped shirt). ;-)
Small screen, not the silver screen. There is a famously epic fight in 'They Live'.
I was never the same after watching it...
YEEESSSSS!
It was quick and merciful.
i wish you guys had showed him clips of his early career and his iconic roles in twilight zone
Nah... they should've gone deeper than that.... like say the TV Pilot for Alexander The Great that saw Shatner starring opposite of Adam West.
I was really hoping that he’d react to his two Columbo appearances
@@gracemuchmore anything beyond star trek would be nice.
Not to mention, Tekwar!
@@fredcasdensworld did the pilot ever air?
Still going strong at 90 years of age. A remarkable man. May he continue to live long and prosper!

He KKKHHHHHHHAAAAAANNNNNNNNN't stand watching himself...I'll show myself out...
William Shatner's such a legend 👑
In his own mind
So handsome when he was young...old age sucks..that being said ..he's as sharp as a tack and i hope he stays around a lot longer.
He looks amazing and he's obviously having the time of his life.

That is so sweet. I've been a James T Kirk fan since 1968. I met him by accident one time- funny story.

Shatner a true straight man, laughing at how serious people take him. Maybe we’re all the Jerry to his Dean!😁😁🎆🌅💕💕
How could you leave off the "rocket man" performance!?
Gotta love the Shat!!
Gotta love William Shatner. He's more together than many men half his age. I hope he continues to live long and prosper.
Captain looks great for 90!
It blows my mind that he’s 90. He’s unbelievably sharp.
Kirk climbed it because it was there 🤣🤣🤣
I feel confident that this man will live to be 110 Years Old...if not more...
He is so full of youthful energy.
Mr. Shatner was quite a handsome man in his younger years.
He was stunning.....but Leonard Nimoy was sexier ;)
One of my all time favorite actors. There would be no Star Trek franchise without this man.
I know a lot of people don't like Shatner, but I always thought he was fun. Ego? Yeah, he had tons, but I think that issue is pretty common in the industry.

Shatner was very polite and kind about others. Classy.
Shatner’s always great - Airplane 2 clip didn’t show him walking through the video screen door which was the funniest joke in the movie.
