      @@termitreter6545 They didn't release a broken game. I am convinced that either you can't recognize a broken game or that you are using the term inflationally.
      There just isn't a way to find every bug and glitch prior to a release, let alone for a team of 20.
      Also, speaking generally, Name any software that was released without a single bug ;-)

      Hell Bethesda did not even fix many of the bugs in the multiple re-releases of Skyrim that modders fixed in the community bug fixing patch weeks after the original was released.

      @@indieRealmsOfficial I thought of about buying the basic pack not long after it came out but decided to wait and am glad as they had raised a much as many Triple A games spend on development all in the first 2 years and now in 2018 (where people are still handing them money) they have nearly collected as much money as it took to development and advertise GTA V did.

    Thank you for this. By far the biggest issue for me is the extremely calm universe, which in turn, stales the economy.
    Edit: So apparently 1.3.2 will fix the entire game, looking forward to it!
    Edit2: Played all day with the new update, economy looks better but my traders are still frustratingly dumb, I'm going to wait for a few more patches.

      Same issue with my universe, stagnant. It won't finish a behemoth I have on order as missing parts :( Can't trade them manually when the shipyard is full

    mass transfer for marines pls. having to comm 80 marines one by one to tell them to transfer to your ship then drive them to the new/old ship then comm all 80 of them again to get off , its just...

      Need this. Without it, it's not practical to keep high-skilled marines/crew around. You either comm transfer 80 marines back to your passenger ship 1 by 1, or fire them off the capped ship and hire new ones on the passenger ship.

Moving your good pilots/marines/service crew into an elite wing would be nice, but the micro management behind it is just insane. Thanks for bringing that up OP... thanks

    This is why Egosoft is my favorite developer. Straightforward, no marketing BS, just plain honesty. They admit to bug's or behaviors that weren't intended, just plain outright no justification intents. Sorry guys this went wrong, we are fixing it. They don't make jokes about it or belittle the problems people are having, they understand how frustrating it can be for the people having those problems. They listen to the player's grips and suggestions. They don't try to hide anything, completely transparent, loving it.

      You're talking as if they didn't knew they released and unfinished and broken game yet again, after X2, X3 and X Rebirth having all the same issues. Could've launched in Early Access, but no, instead they pretended to have a full game. I love X1-3, but don't give me this bullshit as if they made a honest mistake. They are developing the game, of course they know what state the game they release it in.

      @@termitreter6545 the game is faaar from being "broken". It is their most stable release yet. You could play dozens of hours without encountering any bugs or glitches.

      @@termitreter6545 You do realize that we are talking about a game studio with about 20 employees, right?
      Have you ever hunted a bug or tested software? It's a bit trickier than most people would assume. This challenge scales pretty nastily with rising complexity of the program in question, too.
      And if games of the X series are one thing, it's 'pretty complex'.
      Also, I imagine there would've been quite a lot of complaints about early access as well.
      Also also not releasing in early access does not make any statement at all about the amount of testing that went into the game. I would be suprised if this title hadn't been tested to the absolute extent of Egosofts possibilities pre release.
      Adding to that, I have the feeling that in the vast majority of cases when games are being released in early access the developers/publishers/whoever just intend to reap the benefits of an earlier release without the punishment a rushed-to-market-product would entail.

      @@alexanderohnenachname6159 Seems more like you know less about game development than I do. If a game has a huge amount of bugs and misses central features (player shipyards), then devs will know that. Game developers aren't blind idiots, they know what they are doing.

    Never heard of you guys until 10 days before the game launched now you folks are among my favourites! Not just because of the good games you guys release... (couldn’t wait so I had to pick up X3 and it’s expansions) but your dedication to fixing them when it things go wrong... other game devs could learn from you guys.. (cough EA cough) anyway.. keep up the good work guys!

      EA will never change, but at the same time, people keep pouring money into their inferior products.
      How can any Game developer sign up with EA and not know their reputation for cannibalizing game companies, so many good game companies asset stripped and absorbed. Kiss of death for any company that signs a deal with them.

    For the asking for missions, i recoment making the bar available from the start and adding a bar keeper, who knows the latest gossip. Adding a few more npc to the bar would also add to the immersion and athmosphere

      You even could add a little flavour. By giving a small tip, the bar keeper could guide you to better paying missions. Maybe incorporate gift items, wich could lead you to the black market mission.

      Me too.. They really did well with this game and i have no doubt that it will become one of the space sim greats with more patches and mods. It is a great foundation to build from as its name implies.

    I desperately hope you guys will make crew training seminars usable in these coming updates. Currently, the only reliable way of acquiring skilled pilots is by buying ships and hoping you get one that is skilled, transfering them somewhere else, and selling that ship. I highly doubt this was the intended way of acquiring them, and I hope it's something you guys will address.
    Along with that, very much information is missing from the encyclopedia, and weapons/station modules do not give any information as to what they actually do. I hope you guys are looking into solving these small issues, and I hope you the best in making X4 a better game! :)
    Thank you so much for creating this update video, and giving much needed reassurance to the fans of X4.

    Add the Boron and Split
    Add more ships especially the M6 and M7 classes, and the XL sized M2 battleships
    Add more sectors

      Some time ago egosoft stated new races, ships and sectors are coming later as an addon. Seeing how big this game already is I do understand why they decided to split this up. After such a successul start I'm sure it's just a matter of time until new content will come :)

    Concerning map, it could be great if there was a scale indicator. Could be useful to plan satelite drop if we can compute distance between objects using the map! If we could draw a line on the map and a tooltip says us the distance would be a great tool to plan things.

    Congratulations on a great release and a damned fun game! Cant wait to see all of the goodies you plan to implement in the future with this fantastic foundation.
    If the past is anything to go by, then this game is going to be absolutely stunning once you guys get everything implemented that you have planned. Do not neglect mods however whatever you do. That is what will keep people coming to this game for years to come. Do everything within your power to make mods and modding that much easier and you will benefit as will we. I would especially like to see some scripting tools for easy mission making.

    I love the fact that you can walk around the stations, wish that this point would gain more of a meaning, NPC Quests, bars at which you can drink, viewing places, small things like that! Good so far, loving it!

    I know it's too late but just a thought. We have these massive Carriers that store number of ships. These ships should be shot out of the Carriers full throttle ready for combat instead of taking off as slow as they land. I do love the way the ships dock but these high speed combat ships that can be suburdinates to the carrier really need the ability for fast deployment. Maybe for starts fighters get shot out of the middle pylon of the Colossus. A flight line...we have all these crewmen let's but them to work on a flight line. Just a thought for some kind of rapid deployment. Love this game. You guys did an amazing job.... keep it up!!!

      Remove that engineering part. It got lost. Look at Stuttgart 21, Airport Berlin Brandenburg, Hamburg Elbphilharmonie, Volkswagen Diesel, Bundeswehr Aircrafts, Navy Helicopters that cannot fly above the sea, etc. etc..... German are no good engineers anylonger. Just stupid bureaucrats and politicians.
      So what's left are good X games. ;-)

    Really appreciate the news update! I loved X3 and I'm looking forward to the updates for X4. I'm already enjoying it as it is.
    As a software developer in a small company, I can relate to a lot of the issues you're having. Thanks for the hard work on the updates and patches.
    One thing that would be good to know in a future update is how bug fixes might effect those who are continuing a current save game? Will the fixes to things like wars and the economy work OK with saves we already have?

    The fact that people now *want* to walk on stations and talk to NPCs shows how much the gameplay has improved
    This game to me gave me the impression it's a solid foundation to build upon. And makes me regret there's no collector's edition upgrade.
    I'm exited for the future of X4, it's a rare sight to see a game dev that I can not only trust but also has a good relationship with the community.

      Personally I've always loved to walk on the stations etc and hated all the extras they put in so not to visit them - I really missing the docking from X2 where you fly INTO a station and dock, hope we get more of that and not just all these Elite "pads" they have. something like the large stations from Elite where you fly into them.

    Would love it if when stations come under attack they have alarm systems for immersion, it feels very strange that a huge station full of life is under attack and i hear announcer saying any loose animals will be vaporised on sight.

      100% agree. It would be epic to hear klaxons over the station speakers as a Xenon capital ship begins it's siege on the station.

    Not sure how you can be happy with how the release went. Your QA department let you down. The patches came very fast though so kudos for that. I had to stop playing for a while after putting 50 hours in. I will be back though. The potential in this game is huge.

    It would also be great if you made turrets controllable by the player again! This was a great feature in the older X-games. I miss shooting down that annoying fighter at the back of my capital ship on my own!
    Also turrets should work better in general and actually shoot at enemies attacking my ship. Especially on the bigger destroyers that doesnt really work at the current state of the game.
    Big fan of the X-games since X: Beyond the Frontier. Thanks for taking care of your games Egosoft!

    Thanks you guys for your hard work! One thing Id love to see is the old turret controls for turrets com back. Like how you could take control of a group of them in x3. With a relief pilot flying the ship you are in it would be fun to jump in the guns! :)

    Hay! I don't know what happened to Egosoft between X:Rebirth and X4. I'm guessing it has to do with the lack of the deepsilver logo on the splash screen but you guys have been FANTASTIC with this game. Both holding true to the roots of the series and keeping the community up to date and involved. Mad props to all of you and keep up the great work! Love your game!

      DeusWulf dude, this! X rebirth has the most beautiful station design I've ever seen, where everything seems moving and full of little details. I just noticed that's there's actually trains moving around a docking station. This is why I love hacking station in Rebirth,. you'll see little details that you probably missed when flying on ship.

      It doesn't matter when those trains aren't usable. But I agree that space stations in X4 are a downgrade. Sector design also.

      You still get the lifts going up and down outside the Habitation Modules.
      Putting the Animated Trains on those long connector modules pieces shouldn't be too complicated.

    Can we please fire the devs from every other game and just have you guys develop every game in the future? Please?! You guys are awesome and it's clear that you care about the game and take the quality of your work personally. I wish more developers actually gave a damn. When I hire people, I am always looking for someone that takes their work personally because it results in a much better final product. The problem is that it is incredibly rare. Most people just do what is necessary for a paycheck and it's painfully obvious. You guys are not that way and it shows. Thank you for all you're doing and Merry Christmas!

    Good work Egosoft, I've been with you from the beginning, from before you had a forum ! I'm glad you found your footing after X-Rebirth and delivered a game that is playable, with manageable bugs that are being fixed.
    I like immensely the new UI, for far too long we had sluggish keyboard control for doing different things, I hope the management of hundreds of ships has become a lot easier and comfortable.
    Bringing back Betty and ship steering directly by mouse sound absolutely awesome. I don't have to kill my eyes anymore watching a circle to point my ship, I just look at the whole screen and point the ship. Genius !

    Good to hear plans in progress for what's happening with things. I do have a few suggestions, probably for post 2.0 given you've already got that in progress so to speak.
    1) Crew management - It'd be nice if the crew was a bit more granular than captain/pilot/manager and service/marine. Personally I'd like to see Rebirth's 'classes' return, but be able to crew built ships from the menu still. Having the crew spilt between marines, engineers/damage control, gunners and maybe logistics with a possible larger number or split off the marines so it's marines vs something else while the rest are standard crew would potentially be helpful. It would also be useful to have the ability to access crew areas on ships, particularly for the 'find me x of ' missions. Having a full crew management area for bulk reassignments would probably also be useful.
    2) Expanded HQ storyline - Honestly at present the HQ missions end abruptly after being told to try teleporting, and there's 21 'techs' to research, which takes 210 minutes or 3.5 hours real time, so two things that would be good to see would be expansion on the R&D and expansion on the HQ story including getting a 'mission complete' for the teleport and hopefully finish building or rebuild (depending on the story) the ring at the HQ and learn more about it.
    3) Data vaults - Not honestly sure I give much of a damn about these at present, though it could be useful to have some obviously unique rewards for finding each one, maybe some sort of artefact or blueprint that only we can use but has to go to the HQ.
    4) Trade computer - While having wares bought and sold on the map is visually a nice idea to see ware flow, for trading it's not that great honestly. In rebirth our trade computer had two modes both of which helped a fair bit and it was on its own screen so we could see what was going on. I'd honestly like to have a trade computer where I can search by ware or by station to check things and see in detail where wares are bought/sold, what prices and where they are compared to my trade ship or to have pre set runs where a station wants to buy an amount of a ware from another station and you can have your ship act as courier. I'd also like to see that bit expanded for multi-stop trips or repeat trips sort of along the lines of TransRoad America(USA?) which had repeated journeys in.
    As a last point, I'd possibly suggest upping the number of available jobs and return some of the more combat oriented ones such as hunting down named pirates/syndicate members or defending stations, patrols or escorts.

    There are surely good things in this game, I won't deny it. To be honest, though, no matter how physically "large" the universe is, x4's feels INCREDIBLY smaller than X3's. That's for a variety of different reasons. First, the lack of codex-like encyclopedia informations and bits and pieces of lore, added with the lack of different soundtracks which help make a sector really memorable. Remember Kingdom End? Seizewell? And even farther sectors like Getsu Fune or Oort Cloud? They all had something interesting and fascinating.
    There's also the problem that no matter if it was fully simulated or not, there was *always* activity. Right now x4 feels absolutely dead. 125 hours and I've seen probably around 1 destroyer engaged in an one-sided battle and just a dozen of pirates. In 125 hours of exploring the *whole* galaxy. If you want the game to feel expansive, that is not acceptable. I understand you are aiming... well, you *were* aiming for a fully simulated universe, but you should accept the fact that a fully simulated universe will make everything agonizingly boring. I'd take 15 Kha'ak ships spawning randomly to attack a station versus an empty sector with the occasional scout everyday.
    The highway system feels completely out of place... if I'd been in your shoes, considering how X:Rebirth was received, I'd have scrapped everything about it - including the lore... especially its mechanics though. You've worked hard on that game, I realize and appreciate that... but you should also accept the fact that even in its latest release it was simply a bad experience with a lackluster story, also devoid of most of that lovely sandbox feeling we all loved about X3. It's like having a child who turns out to be a criminal - maybe it's not entirely your fault and you won't stop loving him, but he's still a bad apple.
    Then we have the GUI. It's very sterile and, sadly, incredibly inferior to the one present in X3. Ok, you can zoom out, see trade offers and the like... but, let's be honest. X3's interface was aesthetically more pleasing, cleaner and much more intuitive while giving you more options. Sure, it needed work... just not like this. This, I feel, was another step in the wrong direction.
    Finally, there are the small things. Betty is missed, and I'm glad she'll make an appearance. I mean, I'm quite sure we all miss terribly her spelling of: "Deh Muun." It added character to the game and was absolutely iconic. The encyclopedia should have MUCH more info about the systems and their post-gate shutdown history. When you put lore into a game, doesn't matter if I personally like it or not, it's always better to give more - not less. It's useless having a system called "Second Contact Flashpoint" when the gamer can't say why it's called that way and what the battle was like. Without buying a german novel, at least. The combat AI could use a lot of tweaks, the turrets are still underperforming. Piloting a Cap Ship feels like a chore, and they are VASTLY underpowered compared to how they were in X3. Their low shielding is a really huge indicator and cause of that. There is nowhere nearly the right amount of hull variety - considering we lack Split, Boron and Terran I'd have expected at least 25-30 more ships. I realizes working on the interiors might be time consuming, but you did well with X3. Why don't just recycle and re-adapt some of the existing internal hulls for new vessels instead of having so few of them? Again, less is less, not more. The new... S,M,L,XL system concerning ship size makes no sense. I will *always* prefer the TM, TP, TS, TC, M1, M2 etc. class naming system... it made sense while this does not. Trading feels absolutely off. I don't know and can't explain why, but it felt more rewarding and less... predictable in X3. Right now I can just buy 20 medium miners, pop some satellites and I'll have millions pouring in after 5 hours of gameplay. Missions are repetitive and there's a lack in variety. Bugs are still plentiful.
    Ehhh, I think that's it. Mind you, I wouldn't have originally bought the game so soon, but it was a birthday present from a friend so I kinda had to give it a try. I played as much as I could to give some feedback, but I don't see myself coming back to it after it made me yawn so much. Again, I appreciate the effort... but I'd rather have seen an overhaul of X3:TC with new graphics and the AI crew system in place. Sorry for the wall of ligh- uhm, of text.

      This is personal bias... Explain to me what "TM, TP, TS, etc..." means as a new player to the series. S, M, L, XL makes much more sense, you know? Since small ships are small and large ships large. That naming system you mention makes zero sense to me (and anyone else new to the series). I'm just gonna go here and assume that that naming system refers to the sub-type of ship and not it's actual size class.

    Good honest dev blog. Im new to X series and one of those who played 100hrs to discorver the game. I was frustrated at losing all that time due to 1.0 economy/war bug, but im really satisfied with the updates since launch and this video. keep up the good work!

    WELL DONE Egosoft you finally implemented (after 15 years?) and sold features that have always been there in the good old Freelancer:
    • Wholistic nav maps (player can finally set a route across multiple sectors)
    • Verbose radio communications
    • Auto rolling (thank God you at least made an option to disable it)
    • Speed highways (in Freelancer those were much better though)
    • Firing and dogfighting - now it's almost identical to Freelancer (clicking the right mouse button will NOT make your guns fire unless you hold down the left mouse button too)
    • Cruise mode (Ctrl+W in Freelancer)
    • Afterburner (finally TAB behaves like it should - not just sets speed to maximum like in X2/X3)
    • Nebulas are back (thank God you put something reminiscent of splendid X2 nebulas back, you killed them in X3 but you must have recalled that Freelancer had nebulas)
    • Gas miners and gas refinery plants
    Good work guys! Just one question, how did you even manage to sell your X4?
    Do you think that in X5 you will finally add "Planetary Landing"? Come on, Freelancer kind of has it - if you decided to re-make it you must have it too!

    Let me add something I feel it's really missing atm: A more BEEFED UP software library. I miss the crapton of ship software available in X3, the few options you get from the shipyard atm feels severely lacking.
    I believe a more robust software selection would help both the ingame economy and player progression!

    Could you also fix the "explore" order, so your ship uses the long range scanner to find stations instead of floating around randomly and uselessly?

      I know right? Using the long range scanner I can explore a whole system in about half an hour depending on how full it is. Scout ships at the moment are useless with exploring because they fly around aimlessly to just any random part of the system, and very slowly too. It took mine about 5 hours to explore its first system before i decided to sell it.

    It's great that you keep the players informed with videos like these.
    The game could use a cantina/bar where you could find missions and maybe sell or buy some stuff from other npc like materials, stations could use some armed guards just for some "realism" to give more life to the stations.

    We need more drone controls! 1) Can't get them docked until teleported away.
    2) Auto launch to repair in the middle of a fight sometimes not a wise idea.
    3) Auto launch of defenders is not smart at all. Sometimes it attacks mass traffic at the stations and aggroes entire faction.
    I like how you can outfit traders with combat drones in X3 for extra protection. I wish for drone expansion in the future. Thanks.

    @Egosoft: I like this type of video addressing the community. But one sentense pisses me off!
    *"The Release is a week behind and and WE ARE HAPPY how it all went"* You have got to be kidding us...
    That X-Games require crucial hotfixes is nothing new. We can live with that. But deliberately selling only a half-produced game where end-content is plain and simply NOT EXISTENT is just horseshit. I am sick of being unwilling beta-tester in a full-prize release. Capital ships have only one engine, only one type of main battery armament, Large turrets bigger than entre ships miss everything and even if they dont do less damage than 1 tiny fighter weapon. Captial Ship Shields can't regenerate just because a stupid fighter deals a bit of damage every 10 seconds, All Races have the same model for the construction vessle. Not even different Mammoth, Albatros, , etc... Generally the variety is a joke and nothing like X3 where theres tons of different ships, weapons and systems... 8 ship upgrades. Thats all you get. WHAT THA HECK"??? Where is the Digital Visual Enhancement software? Where is System Overwrite Software? And the other thousands of things you were able to get in X3? AI is absolute crap and boosts their shield away - even on my Destroyer.. I saw it boosting away, killing its entire Capital Ship Shields in 5 seconds and then being swarmed by ships and destroyed without shields. Weaon systems compltely unbalanced. The starting Pulse-Laser being better than anything else in the game. Rockets completely overpowered... Enemies carry tons of rockets but you can only hold 2 Counter Measures that dont even work right. And a Fighter can literally fire HOMING MISSILES that 2-hit kill the capital ship shields on my destroyer. Such nonsense!
    The whole balancing is a mess and end content is just not there yet... And even though I know all that: I still believe X4 is going to become the greatest Space game ever... But as usual - X-Games need a year and the modding community to make that happen because Egosoft just can't stop releasing games months before they are ready. So sad... That is not GERMAN EFFICIENCY.

    Loving the solid communication, please keep it up. I've stopped playing until you guys have polished it up a bit more but I believe you'll make this release better than X3TC/AP :D
    Biggest fixes I would like to see are formation/wingmen issues and better turret/drone controls - like direct control of these things like how they worked in X3AP.

    Thank you Egosoft! You guys are switched ON. The communication between Egosoft and the fans of the X series is crystalline resulting in an EXCELLENT game release which is only getting better with quote "support for the modding community" and upcoming DLCs. Its a nice break from the news Im hearing about the poor folks at Vault 76.

      Sorry but a BROKEN game on release is NOT excellent in anyone's book who has the least amount of common sense. It is not even flagged as early alpha, which it is at this point.
      How low consumers have gotten nowadays. It's sad...

    One of the things I love about you guys is that I know you'll continue to update and patch the game for the next couple of years, and potentially even make an officially supported modpack.

    Would be nice to have a long-long plot story like the one in X3: Terrain Conflict (Aldrin campaign, Khaak war, Xenon Hub repair, Treasure Hunt, etc.) Really worth adding someting like this IMHO.
