      I easily switched from my FZ-07 to the Enérgica Ribelle and still able to still ride with my petrol buddies through the same canyons, etc. as before.
      I almost never charge beyond 90% at EV chargers - as mentioned in the video, best to leave balancing at home overnight.
      My average top off at EV stations if needed is generally 20-30 min. but most rides are done on a single charge without stopping as they are well within the battery’s range when I leave my house.

    It's great to see the innovations in this sector, but it's still not quite there yet for me. I'd be able to accept waiting around for it to charge if it had at least a 150-200 mile range at highway speeds. My dirty two wheeled petrol drinker gets me 270 miles and takes 2 minutes to fill. And at the price it'd be enough to pick up my dream bike two times over... But this does give me hope that in 5-10 years time when they force us all to go electric that there'll be some great options out there!

    Hmmm, not sure I like the idea of relying on that app to get the charging station to initiate charging, lots of potential failure points there. Otherwise, that recharge time is quite reasonable. Good that the app shows stations with known faults though. Does it show if a charge point is already in use by another vehicle? I can just imagine needing a recharge and you get to the only charge point in the area to find some Tesla or something already plugged in for an hour charge.

    Whilst many people are frustratingly panic buying fossil fuel in long queues outside petrol stations, the electric charging point you visited looks like it's hardly ever used although right next to an undertakers - like you said, nothing to do but wait for death! Battery charging will significantly improve very quickly, graphene enhanced batteries are getting closer, with 500 mile potential for cars and near zero to full charging times under 10 ~ 15 minutes being targeted. No doubt other technologies will also accelerate developments. Very few people refuel traditional vehicles at home, visiting super fast charging points will become normal in the near future with home charging as a welcome option.

    • @spicy110
      @spicy110  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ture people don't fill petrol cars at home, but you can with electric (and you have the means to do it at home) Big plus is every morning you have a "full tank" its cheaper than the ev stations and better for the batts atm. I too can't wait to see where the tech goes and I will be following it not ignoring it over the coming years. 🙂

  • @kevinmobile
    @kevinmobile 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Could you say what the tariff was on DC (compared to say the home 15p/kWh) and, if it is known and different, for AC on the power supply you used?
    Incidentally, for those who use pacemakers, while it is safe to ride on a motorcycle or sit inside a driven car, recent research has suggested you exercise caution when charging via poorly shielded cables when DC charging with the field strength along the charging cable increasing as current is increased. The study focused on a maximum of 32A-the current typically used by Level 2 home chargers. I've seen such a more relevant warning on the more powerful motorway DC fast charges in small print!
    It means that maybe you should tell the family member/passenger or pillion with the pacemaker to go get a cup of coffee (if available) while you’re hooking up to the high-power DC fast charging.

Cities and large towns will see rapid EV charging point installation by many companies. The take up is going to be huge, especially if we get really cheap affordable EV's. If you live out of town always have the home charging option.

    • @spicy110

      yes and engines degrade over time, for zero this is the claim "A typical Zero S or Zero DS can travel over 200,000 miles with the batteries retaining 80% of their original maximum capacity." most petrol bikes don't see 100k miles in a lifetime. also an engine with 100k on it is just , the battery is still useful for other uses. for example you can have solar panels put up and charge the old batt, then use that power to change your bike or run things in your house. That also gives you a back up for power cuts.

    I suppose the best point at the moment for EV motorcycles is there's no panic buying instigated petrol shortage / long queues to fill up 👍👍🤣🤣
    And you can use our ever popular EcoExpressway for buses, cyclists and ULEV's - - gets used every 12 mins by a bus and maybe every 30 mins by an ULEV (or a vehicle that's driven by Mr Magoo's relative) and only the occasional cyclist because most still use the fairly acceptable cycle path that was there before the EcoExpressway.......otherwise those 2 EcoExpressway lanes are as busy as a swimming pool after all the previous swimmers suffered diarrhoea

    58 minutes to fuel up (charge) ? That's a joke. And the amount of steps you have to do to start the charging process - that's another joke. Just another sky-high expensive commuter toy.

    • @spicy110
      @spicy110  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Where did you get 58 mins from? This took 36 mins and half of that is was not charging at full rate due to me not putting it on that setting. As for steps? (Admittedly when it works right) 1. open app press start a charge and select plug. 2. plug in and press charge. 3. unplug and leave. Also it is not a commuter toy its one of the most powerful electric motorcycles produced, with better range and faster charging than pretty much anything out there in EV bikes. This bike and people buying them are helping push the future development of the motorcycle that will be sold in the UK, there will be no new petrol bike.

    • @ckrz1234
      @ckrz1234 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@spicy110 Yes spicy I agree what you say about this bike. I think you said 58min when you first plugged in. But nevertheless even 30 minutes is way too long for me when I go on my fast rideout to North Wales refuelling 3-4 times which take no more than 5 minutes each. No to mention astronomically high price for this bike - to me this is just a future concept. But as a commute toy (no further than 50 miles) at 3 times lower price it might be nice.

    • @andrewmorgan1819
      @andrewmorgan1819 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ckrz1234 there are a few things that need to be taken into account. While you're filling up with petrol, the rider has to stay with the bike, The EV rider could have a coffee and a pee while his is charging. so the two could "refuel" in roughly the same time. The cost of the "fuel" is lower, the maintenance costs are lower.
      I agree that it's a bigger outlay but it will recuperate that cost over time.
