As someone who's currently writing a story in a magical school setting, hearing you say that you can't get enough of them made me sigh with relief. I'm always scared that people think it's overdone and that I'm the only one who still loves it. Also, once again, my tbr is getting longer and longer.

When I was in public school I lost my love of reading but over the course of quarantine I started reading some books that my brother liked at my age (Harry Potter,Percy Jackson that kind of stuff) and fell in love with reading again. I then found your channel a couple of weeks ago and we are pretty similar. My favorite type of books are middle grade and YA. I love fantasy and mythology. I also like some romance but I am very picky about that. If it talks about the nasty then I chuck it out the window. Anyways I just wanted to let you know that I love you and your channel. I have wanted to read Frankenstein for a looong time, too, so I recently purchased a copy of Gris Grimly’s full-length illustrated adaptation of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein and it is GORGEOUS! I am so excited to read it on fall break when I don’t have 567 papers to grade!

I highly recommend Crimson Peak, it’s not scary or gruesome, it’s like a visual poetry. The costumes, the colors, the high contrast between stark snow, the manor and the blood, it’s truly a visual masterpiece. And not to mention the brilliant actors! I will for sure be watching this again this month ♥️
And my TBR list just got a whole lot longer… Trying to power through the last seven months of my bachelors degree, so reading will be slow, but I can’t wait to have all the time to make it through all these awesome recommendations!

I just read a book called Magic Bitter, Magic Sweet. It was so good. I bought it on a whim on my kindle for $.99. It's like Chocolat meets Hansel and Gretel meets Circe.

I read Frankenstein in February and I liked it, although it did end up looking sadder / emotional than anything else.

I've been casually reading bits and pieces of Carlos Ruiz Zafon's book "The Midnight Palace"- I just plucked it off the shelf of the library where I work one day, and I was hooked from literally the first page. So I have a lot of confidence in his writing, and the premise of this one sounds incredible.

For a good thriller I've recently read The Sundown Motel it's a murder mystery with ghosts and I finished The Kind Worth Killing, if you like really messed up characters this is quite the ride. I just finished the Inheritance Games and look fwd to reading the second book in the series.
If you haven’t read it already, I highly recommend the Lockwood & Co series by Jonathan Stroud. It’s spooky YA about teenagers running a ghost hunting company in a country over run by the dead. All the characters are wonderfully loveable dorks. It’s also currently being turned into a tv show!

Watch Crimson Peak! I watched it for the first time this year and it was so beautiful! I avoided it because I thought it would be too scary, but it was totally mismarketed as a horror when it is in fact a Gothic Romance.

I read shadow of the wind years ago and i loved it!! I am currently reading Atlas Six and I am loving this as well. FYI 6 people are invited to the Society and only 5 will make it. It so far has implied that the 6th person may die if they dont make it, but so far that has not been specifically stated.

Watch Crimson Peak! I watched it for the first time this year and it was so beautiful! I avoided it because I thought it would be too scary, but it was totally mismarketed as a horror when it is in fact a Gothic Romance.

I read shadow of the wind years ago and i loved it!! I am currently reading Atlas Six and I am loving this as well. FYI 6 people are invited to the Society and only 5 will make it. It so far has implied that the 6th person may die if they dont make it, but so far that has not been specifically stated.
