I've seen a fair few incidents like that forklift video in my years of warehouse work. No careers were ended, because sometimes pallets or equipment are just faulty, and all humans make mistakes which is why all drivers have to have car insurance and all doctors have to have malpractice insurance. It sucks when a load is dropped, but there's a reason safety videos drill it into you to never walk under an elevated load. I've seen stoves, fridges, bundles of TVs, and more fall. I've even see a pallet full of boxes of printer paper break apart and rain down its contents. We clean up everything as best we can and then it is sent to the damage area for me to inspect and process. One of my roles is being the damage area guy. And when you've got a few dozen people driving around and picking stuff up with fork/clamp trucks and a steady stream of newbies, there's always going to be some expensive stuff in the damage area for me to process, whether it got scraped or dented by the lift or there was a major stack failure.

Hi, I don't fly planes but I do work with their paperwork. I have a slight PSA to anyone even more scared of flying after that clip: Unless all the other wheels also fell apart, I doubt there would be any significant fanger to anyone. The plane itself would probably be fucked up a fair bit if it landed without that wheel, but you'd have been pretty safe I would think. Planes also have a sensor for like, everything. I don't know about that model in particular, but I know a bunch of them go off when there are lose parts and whatnot. If it went off, they'd make an emergency landing - which usually just means "land asap" as opposed to "land when you get to the destination" And even if they crash landed or had to make an emergency landing, the pilots are well equipped to handle it! And you don't have to fear not being found because federal law requires every plane to have an Emergency Location Transmitter that will start sending signals to the military that ___ plane's ELT went off and contact the company it belongs to while transmitting the location of the plane so they know exactly where it is. And those batteries last upwards of 3-5 years so it's not gonna die quickly. It's also powered by a power brick separate from the plane so even if the plane stops working, the ELT will keep broadcasting. I hope that helps assure people a bit.
