Good information, thank you! I have bursitis so bad it swells up causing a bulge on my hip, I'm glad to know the I can use ice! And I suspected that my hips and glutes are weak, I'll work on that! Thanks!

Thank you! Good, clear information about hip pain. Not quite in your area (the States!) but your advice travels well over the Atlantic.

I ' 76 & had my hip replaced 3 1/2 years ago & recently I've been getting pain in side of hip. I will look for glute exercises. ps. When describing pain, could you raise your camera so we can see where you are pointing, please? Thanks for another great video

Thank you! You answered THE question I have been looking. So, def pain on the side not in the groin.

I was told that my hip pain is due to disc bulging on my right side. I have found cycling , walking seems to help. I enjoy attending your class as I always learn something new thank you.

Ugh. I do all 5 . Wish I saw this video 3 years ago. I had PT for this pain. Not one of the 5 were mentioned. Now the pain makes sense. Thank you.

Great explanation of bursitis pain vs arthritis. I am relieved that i can resolve with glute strengthening (and no leg crossing for a while.)

This sounds like very good advice. Interesting that sitting down to put trousers etc. can help. I've had lots of contradictory advice about this problem , the latest being to stand on the affected leg for 10 x10 seconds. I'll definitely be cutting this out and seeing whether things improve!

Ugh, my house is on a steep hill! As a young adult, walking them was a joy, every night after dinner. Now it has just gone from impossible to inadvisable. I guess that's good . . .

I went to the doctor with this problem a few years ago. He was actually angry at me when he looked at my X-rays because I wasn’t going to need hip replacement surgery. I actually had to ask him for a referral to physiotherapy as he was stalking out of the examining room.

Going on 2 1/2 years now of pain on side of hip, and also in crease groin area. Cannot sleep on my side at all. No sciatica at all.

Years ago I went to local (NHS) hospital 'back school' where physios took small groups through modified exercises. All bar one found bridging painfull. They had wondered about including it and after initial sessions dropped it.
I had learned myself not to do it as it exacerbated my problem.
The opposite, pressing lumbar spine down onto floor or, if standing eg at the kitchen sink back eases pressure immediately.

Have you been living in my house? 😂😂😂
I will search my saved videos now for the gluteal ones. Thank you.
Ps. I live 3k from a Spanish hill village and have watched arthritic old people struggle up the hill in the old town. Women invariably carrying shoping bags. Luckily the newer part plus the bit I live are relatively flat areas.

What if the pain is in the groin and also on the the side and down the thigh…seems like all three? And yes the glutes are weak and I have been working on it but still: all 3 symptoms?

    • @helenamcginty4920
      @helenamcginty4920 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

You know the answer. You also have some hip arthritis. 😅
I take paracetamol for the arthritis. One way I know other pain is either my long term damaged lumbar spine or now soggy glutes is that this pain doesnt respond to paracetamol.
I can no longer take NSAIDs like ibuprofen that got me through the last 20 years of work so this advice is a godsend.

I started feeling this pain about 3 weeks ago. I am over 50. I regularly sit with my legs crossed. Started walking hilly areas last December, and wham started feeling pains 3 weeks ago on my right hip and didn't know why. I also have a shortening on my left femur bone.
    Crazy 😢

But can't an acute groin pain (that gets worse if not rested and overused) be an adductor or muscular problem, mostly caused by some kind of strain? (That would especially be the place where the muscle attaches to the pelvic bone.)

Ok....walk, walk, walk,....then sit for 5 minutes. As I stand I know soon will be a point of a click and a SHARP PAIN! It happens, then 10 seconds later it's gone and I walk on. I was told it was my hip locking up. What to do???
