In this video PIXMA G2400 is used. The ink absorber is not
yet full to be replaced in my printer.
Special licence is needed for inkjet service tool and only
authorized service can use it.
Video is partly fast forwarded - demonstration purpose only.
Cost of absorber is about 3 euro.
Cost of one bottle of ink with 6000/7000 pages capacity is about 7 euro.

On a side note, hHad a look on the canon website to compare g3200 vs g2200 and it appears that the two printers are the same except the g3200 offers *wireless* printing.

being in Bulgaria just bought a G3411 looks like its from 2018 good to know what’s ahead enjoying it for now looks like it is going to hold up for at least 3 years before I have to spend 5 minutes to replace some sponges
Did this and follow these steps , then you don't need to pay, remove pads, leave one clean one in, then reset using the below steps
(Service mode) Printer off Hold the stop button then press the power button and keep holding the power button. Release the stop button. Press the stop button 5 times then release the power button.
(Waste ink tank reset) While in service mode Press the stop button 5 times then the power button once wait for it to reset and run a page.
Then press the stop key 3 times then the power button wait for the printer to print out a page then turn of the printer.
(Ink filling)(air bubbles in pipes) Turn on printer Press and hold the stop button for about 5 seconds for 5 flashes and release.
Go to windows /control panel / devices/ printers and find the printer properties, run deep cleaning mode if required there, then print a test page. (canon g3501)

On a side note for all of those who have a G2200, did a spec comparison on canon's website to compare g3200 vs g2200 and it appears that the two printers are the same except the g3200 offers wireless printing.

que crees José, a parte de esas esponjas hay una mas abajo del mecanismo por donde corre el carro de los cartuchos, esa esponja es la primera en llenarce, tienes que desarmar media impresota para poder sacar esa esponja y labarla, seguramente hasta tinta coajada encontraras en esa seccion.

i used to make a hole in my MP258 to make way for the ink to flow outside printer, can we do that to G2000?
I was told elsewhere that we need to replace the two bottom absorbers, as well, which can be reached only with a more extensive disassembly. Otherwise we were warned that ink would leak out. Your thoughts?

FYI, if anyone is looking for the service tool software, it's available on various parts of the internet. I installed it on my computer, but there doesn't seem to be any Mac software.

When i spoke to Canon about this, they said there are 2 ink absorbers. Not just the one in the back. How do you get to the other pad?

It looks great, but it has two main issues - absorbent pads seems to be unavailable except as part of the repair in service center. The material seems to be quite similar to absorbent celulose wadding/bandaging celulose. Unfortunately the celulose sheets are of single layer (at least of what I have seen), so you have to take e.g. three layer , fold them and then cut them (using sciccors etc.), so every folded three-layer sheet would have like 18 layers or so. Every pad can be replaced by approximately three folded three-layer sheets. There are three absorbent pads of different sizes (plus one quite deep ion the left bottom side). SECOND: The reset of the counters here is done by Canon service utility - it is in general unavailable. But quite handful can be the WIC Reset Utility - the key for reseting counters cost like 9,90 USD (application is free, but reseting costs one key, payed via credit card, paypal or so), which is acceptable (Cannon repair would cost at least 4x more). The last improvement is in the transparent silicone pipe - it is located on the left side belllow the cables (the last pad in time 1:10 is removed from right below the pipe) and ends on the absorbent pads. It is used probably for waste ink in boarder-lss printing or so. To improve the lifetime of the absorbent pads (but the counter overflow anyway), you may cut/drill small hole in the rear panel and put it into the empty balck ink bottle, so the waste ink would not end in the pads but in the bottle....

I am sure now new version is available, but I do not have it, I know that only authorized Canon dealers got it updated.
I think there is one more pad you did not take out. There should be another pieces in my g4000 which was not able to be taken out. Do you have any idea how to open up the compartment?
I did partial, not full replacement, for full there is full disassembly needed and it takes 2 hours😂

u took out 4 absorers but put in 3.when I ordered the absorbers there came 4.I had forgotten the arrange I had taken them out.could u pls tell me if there are 3 or 4 pads to be put in
Hi, I did it once for video 6 months ago. If you look carefully in the video, you can put them back, only one falls apart and I did not return.
its actually 3,he did it 4because the biggest part (the 3rd) is split in 2 pieces, its actually 3
@@fadhilatuttasyriqulhajjass6048 Yeah i bought new pads for $20.00 but I soaked mine overnight, squeezed the water out, then dried out completely, now I'm putting back in... They are just fiber pads...nothing special.

Could you do that everytime, or you eventually need to change the other two ?
As long as the print quality is ok you can do partial replacement, but after more printed pages, like 30.000 I suppose the full replacement would be fine and then the print head life is also about 30.000 page, so depends on the economy at that point.
But how do you get rid of the paper jam warning?
if the paper is jammed, you need to remove it. I did not do the video on this model on paper jam, but on another.

Hei! Anyone can help me with this info: where the white tube must be inserted? Because mine it is hanging out. Should I put it inside just to touch the ink absorbers, or it must be atached on something?

@@PrintCloud going to put mine above the bottom pad, then put in remaining two pads to sandwitch. The tube is where the ink comes from.

The local official service technician had that software and I just rented his laptop for video purpose, you need official licence for that, supplied by vendor.

Where to buy new ink absorbers?
In Canon authorized service center, but probably they will need to reset your printer too after replacing.
I tried washing and cleaning the ink absorber pads since they dont have any stock in the service center and i also did a reset but still wouldn't work.. i also tried cleaning the heads but still does not work. Funny thing is whenever i set it to service mode, i cant provide any button input after the power light becomes steady. Now it seems like it hangs whenever i try to go into service mode. But if i just turn it on, the power and stop light just keeps blinking alternately. Have u encountered that kind of scenario?

@@arpitsirohi8095 i have the same problem. Needes to print something important and black would not print at all even though just the day before it worked just fine. Did dwwp cleen twice and thwn got the error message stating absorbers are full... its as if it hit some counter number and stopped on purpose...geez. i woild greatly appreciate if you could share wha you found. Le me know here if you'd me more comfortable sharing info privately. Thanks

So whats the point of posting a how to video, if the software needed to reset the counter, and the ink absorber pads are not available to consumers? Even if we were to re-use to turn the pads around, the software is still needed. So basically this video is a huge waste of time for a consumer looking for solutions!!!!
