As an automotive repair professional my whole life (tech, management ect.) I can see where Al got the "Yoda" nickname. Definitely the guy in the shop you call when something is kicking your ass. He'd walk up, grab a seemingly non-related or obscure tool and flip it upside down & backwards then proceed to demonstrate how to use the Force.

YES! a diesel series! i really dont understand why so many people hate on diesels... it doesnt matter if you're 2hp, or 2000hp, its still just diesel. if you're running 2hp gas, pump gas is fine, but 2000hp gas is a whole other beast...

Us aussies just wish those big diesel's you got could be more affordable here 😂 Hence why going the td conversion. It's not that great a motor really. Only advantages with this particular conversion is much better fuel economy and to work better for water crossings.
i remember 1999, it was a bit less than $13 us to fill my tank back then. those days "running on ethanol" meant, when you wake up the next day after the party, if there was any everclear left in the bottle, you had 1 more swig, then the rest went into the tank.
Perfect timing, currently planning out a diesel swap for my 86 Landcruiser; replacing a guttless 2F gas engine with a slightly more powerful and significantly more efficient 1HZ + turbo.
Great show my brother tried swapping in a working 4.5 petrol when old one crapped out this gives me insight why his automatic transmission might b playing up if he could afford it he would of went this way too
I used to have a 4.5 litre patrol, yeah they’re thirsty but it was the most reliable car I’ve ever owned, all I replaced was the fuel pump and the radiator in the 18 years I owned it. Kicking myself I ever sold it, very underrated engine.
Its crazy how archaic the original inline-6 looked without the fancy engine cover. Can't wait to see the progress and see it ripping up some dirt! Turbo-Yoda teaching the ways of the force on a Yota seems absolutely fitting.
I love the rawness of this compared to the over-edited amazeballs MCM vids. Although, I can't believe you didn't just turbo the TB45, the TD42 is even more gutless in standard trim.

I want to chuck a 4.5 Toyota td in the pootrol. Or is it easier to go the 6.6 duramax? The tdi 4.2 is a bit lazy in my opinion. Just a tractor engine. Spent 3k on getting it to 150kw at the tyres but it still sighs and wipes it’s forehead before it moves. Any ideas welcome. 150kw, 490nm and 12l/100km is great for towing but it would be great if it was available before Tuesday.
dchil15 cant remember specifics. I think it was 2025 that diesels will be banned in a great many euro cities. And read that australia will follow suit. Tho that was back in the k rudd days. Legislation may have changed

There's a few been done, also a few RB25/30 conversions, but Barras are still thirsty compared to a nice td42, and the torque at near idle can't be met by a petrol engine, an that's where u want torque for low rpm crawling etc

This was the biggest and best Diesel engines in Australia for a while until Toyota came out with a small diesel v8 (much to Nissan fans envy).

Warm air supply on the intake snorkel for cold starts.
The TB42s (carby), TB42e (efi), TB45 (4.5lt efi) and non turbo TD42 all use the same exhaust manifold that warm air supply is for the TB42s
