    Wow, I learnt a lot about our own electric Piaggio Scooter. Great video... Thanks ... Piaggio doesn’t even pass on this much info..

    Excellent video, Piaggio should hire you :) I wish legislators at all levels here in the US were smarter and free from fossil fuel industry influence, because adopting these would revolutionize transportation and pollution in large cities. I can just imagine areas like LA, where you could ride all year round, if they swapped huge SUVs in favor of these practical commuters... traffic would disappear instantly.

      Yeah, This thing is really cool! I think I just love how fun it is to zip around. In an urban environment, I’d absolutely be quicker on this than a bigger vehicle, and it’s just a blast to zip around town silently!

    Nice review. I was at my local scooter, Vespa/Piaggio, dealership yesterday and sat on this model (in white/blue). Very low to the ground even with the wide seat. Descent rebate for it being an e-scooter. No options for a rear rack, which is not good. Under seat storage is okay, but not really enough. Something to consider over a ....let's say Vespa Sprint 50S.

      Yeah, these are interesting for sure! I like EV's so I'm following these closely. It will be up to the individual buyers to see if this is what they want in a scooter or not. I can see some really strong cases where this would make sense, and others where a gas scooter is still the way to go for some people.

    I have the Active 1 scooter . It is a great scooter for around town use . The only drawbacks to the scooter are there is no way to lock a helmet to the scooter and no normal helmet fits under the seat. The biggest negative is the horrible suspension they put on it. The shocks have zero dampening and bottom out constantly.

    • @PeterLoweOne
      @PeterLoweOne  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for sharing your experiences! I have to admit, this scooter reminds me of early EV's. There are a lot of good things about it, but some of the improvements that people are going to want are also obvious. More power will come, and this one is excellent on smooth roads, but on rougher roads, it does have smaller wheels and limited suspension travel compared to other Piaggio and Vespa scooters. Just like early EV's there's a market for these, but I can see future generations having more broad appeal (but I also expect them to be more expensive!)

      I'm really enjoying learning about these. The day I turned 16, I got my motorcycle license and drove a scooter that afternoon. I love scooters, motorcycles, and almost anything else on wheels, but especially with some of these products, there isn't a lot of information online. I think it's going to be fun for me to bring these vehicles to life for people!

    Great review. I want electric so bad, just a few years away of the performance, recharge time and range I’m looking for.
    One suggestion is have a small kid or woman to show two-up figment.

      Yeah, I'm not fully sold on this one yet for MY use, but I think it's great for a lot of people. Great suggestion for the 2 up seating! I'll see what I can do in some future reviews. (not everyone I work with wants to be on video)

    I sat on the Vespa Elettrica at the motorcycle Show in 2020. They told me it was easily de restricted but was sold so it could be sold in place of a 50cc
    I think I'd be more inclined to go for the retro look of the Vespa but they're probably both similar internally.
    Why did you trade the Santa Cruz so soon Peter?

    • @PeterLoweOne
      @PeterLoweOne  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm going to review the Vespa Elettricca soon. It does have a higher top speed than the Piaggio that I looked at today. I also love Vespa styling. The Santa Cruz... It's a bit of a long story... I should probably make a video... But it involved a great deal on a Jeep Wrangler 4XE, an unbeatable trade in value on the Santa Cruz, a new dog that had been promised to my kids, (and wouldn't fit into the Santa Cruz without an inside cargo area) etc... The Santa Cruz is still, BY FAR, the best vehicle that I've ever owned. I've moved through a LOT of vehicles over the past decade... I often profit or break even on them, I try not to get too attached... But the Santa Cruz is still a vehicle that, as I said, it's the best vehicle I've ever owned... I had intended on keeping it a long time... But an opportunity came up, and it worked out.

      @@PeterLoweOne ok that makes sense, owning 3 puppers I see the disadvantage not having a cargo area in the vehicle.

    Peter, I really like how the battery is removable which can make it easier to charge in some situations. ✅

    • @PeterLoweOne
      @PeterLoweOne  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, I think, for this type of vehicle, that's such a smart design. You can remove it for the winter, you can take it out to charge throughout your day, even if you leave it in the middle of a parking lot, and if you want to charge it inside, while it's outside your home, it can do that too. It's super smart!

    Rain killed my NCM T1,000 e-fatbike, all components after just a summer and a half-I don't believe in electric anymore and going for a gas scooter or minimoto next year.

    • @PeterLoweOne
      @PeterLoweOne  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think that's a tough stance to take. Tesla drivers wouldn't say, I'm not driving in the rain because water killed my e-bike. I think there are quality and design issues that need to be addressed on some of these electrified vehicles, but I don't think those issues should cause us to write off the technology, I think it should make us pressure companies to make better products.

    • @johndefalque5061
      @johndefalque5061 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have complained to NCM, I should have been warned to baby the bike, never ride it in the rain, take the battery inside always and they should have added on ballistic nylon or leather protective sheathes-they don't so I will have to make my own. Before that I had a worse e-bike the Daymak Vermont-it turned to sh-t in 2 months-so I have lost faith. I did have a Motorino e-scooter yrs ago that got stolen in Victoria. It was a good bike.@@PeterLoweOne

      NCM T1,000 frame is very sturdy and the Kendra tires are good but the bike Achilles' heel is resistance to rain and it rains a ton here in Quebec City.@@PeterLoweOne

    • @johndefalque5061
      @johndefalque5061 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      How rain resistant would you say the Piaggio One is? Can you blame me for being soured on electric after 2 lemon e-bikes? I did love my Motorino scooter, it had a range of 67 kms, speed of 42km/hr, the battery took 17hrs to charge, I realize that charging speeds are much faster now. There is no charging infrastructure but I can ask any bar/resto on route. I do like the silence and no fumes but as I said, recent e-bike experience has left me feeling royally ripped off!@@PeterLoweOne

      @@johndefalque5061 I've spent over a decade working with electric vehicles professionally, and often with early electric vehicles, I spent more time talking people out of them, then into them. This is Piaggio's first attempt at an electric vehicle. This isn't going to be for everyone. It's impossible for me to say if it would be right for you. I would say that you should try to see one for yourself, take a look at the bike and how you'll be using it, and see if it's something that will work for your use. I wouldn't expect it to have a big issue with rain, but for me, I would always charge it in my garage and I would rarely head out on it in rain. So the type of use that I would put it through sounds different than what you're looking for.
      For me, the top speed and limited range would keep me from buying this unit. But I'd be open to buying an electric scooter in future generations of this model. I just bought an electric dirt bike and it's been through all kinds of water, mud, and other dirt bike type environments and it's been flawless for me. So electrified motorcycles and scooters can absolutely handle being in and around water, but it will be up to you to decide if it's the right unit for your use.
