    Mate...can't believe I have a tip for you especially since I've learned so much from you over the years... the scraper...best way to clean them up is to spray a little break cleaner on it, the filler will fall off super easy... cheers mate...J

    Hi Gunman. Best to sand within 2 days. I use it for wooden kitchen cabinets. Also best to thin it out more and just add more coats to build it up. I like the poly because it sands easy and does not srink like P.U

    Honestly Gunny if you want to keep your spray guns clean while doing restoration work buy one of those cheap shit Chinese mini guns put thinners in the pot set it spot and crank the pressure up to 8 bar and use it to jet wash your spray gun out it clears everything out and keeps your gun really clean

    Polyester spray filler is a life saver when you've been bogging a panel and can't get it quite level and perfectly straight. I normally put 2 coats on and leave it to dry overnight then block with 80's after applying a guide coat . The panel usually comes out pin straight then its time for some high build . Good work Gunny 👍👍

    • @TheGunmanChannel
      @TheGunmanChannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's what I've been doing on the entire car and yeah, it's coming out very straight

    I've been using filler spray on my restoration work for over 30 years.
    It needs to completely dry before sending.
    2 or 3 weeks in the sun

    Polyester spray with a 2.0 tip is used mostly for bare panels. If not I'd just use a spread type polyester then a body shaped curved to fit sand blocks the soft sanders.. then go from there good luck

    Hey gunny, I restore cars for a living and polyester is great if your after a super straight finish, it does shrink a bit, blocking it immediately is easier but let it shrink and then block it for better results and better hold out, yes it gets hard but that's the trade off, thanks for the cool vids

    • @jamesresurfacing5399
      @jamesresurfacing5399 ปีที่แล้ว

      For cars I think waiting is fine. Could knock the top off in the first 2 days then guide coat again and sand again after a few days and/or heat lamps

    Good day Gunman. I am enjoying the series and this one causes me to ask you for an explanation episode. I bought a spray gun from Ebay with the gun coming from England and it had a 1.4 tip. I hear you many times mentioning wht size tip you are using when you are doing your spraying but as I am not a spray painter, I have no idea what the various sizes are used for. The other part of my query would be what parts do you change on the gun to fit a different tip? I bought the gun because I would like to repaint my 6x4 trailer when I get the confidence. As a matter of interest, I purchased the gun through Ebay as I did not get one reply from sellers when I sent a question.

    Hi Gunman, I'm currently using the Resto Finish polyester from Melomotive on my dad's '66 Mustang. I got the black version and it seems to lay down with a semi gloss finish which makes it very easy to see any spots that have been missed in the initial body prep. The bits that i've sanded sofar have sanded pretty easy but the car's not finished yet so I can't tell you if it's worth it or not, first time i've tried the polyester. I did get the block/spline kit from Melomotive, it's come in quite handy sofar on this job, well worth the $$

    Hi Gunny, looks like you were chilling out in your garage today mate and why not as you are making good progress.
    I've only used polyester spray filler once and even then I had to ask you for advice on using it and you sent me an audio message via Insta which was a big help, it did the job and went on ok but cant say I want to use it again as it stinks to hell and made the walls and floor in my little booth sticky and it stunk for a week🤣horrible stuff but I left it for a few days and it sanded down really well👌👍John UK

    So if you use fiber glass with the curved to panel sanders you don't really need polyester don't know why but the fiberglass the short hair one is epic.. and wear long sleeves when painting n water your floors for an amazing job. Some trucks we do in our carribean NYC body shops. Great jobs your doing your motivating us

    Fun fact about polyester spray fillers - they leave a nasty edge if applied in patches, not full panel. Supposedly has something to do with thin edges not drying properly.

    As usual, another awesome video. Gunny could you do a video in painting plastics? There is a lot of info in painting new plastic bumpers etc but I can't find much on painting prepping or repairing plastic bumpers and rear spoilers, skirts etc. Wanting to paint my BF XR6 Falcon but not sure on how to go about the plastics. Cheers legend!

    My paint rep always tries to sell me a 1ltr of reducer when I buy a primer kit or an epoxy primer kit but I always insist on buying a 4ltr...clean your gun with gunwash the best you can, then when it curdles clean it again with the same reducer for the primer and you'll get it clean. Then save the dirty reducer for cleaning next time.

    Hi Gunny, Love the cruisy home job vids! What do you think of Cams glazing putty? It seemed to be half the effort to sand but I haven't ever had access to the stuff you do though

    Yea mixing body filler on cardboard does not affect the body filler,the time it takes to mix body filler and hardner together,is so short that cardboard won't suck nothing off the body filler,only cardboard not to be used is waxed cardboard.
