very well explained.. I have wanted one of these for a long time...I finally did a side job that paid me enough money to get one... I am waiting on it now (4-15-2019) and I bought it online from Pyramyd air on the 12th, last Friday... All I have been thinking about since then... I am so happy about this. I have several air rifles that are nice and some very powerful(PCP's) but nothing that will compare to this Sumatra in .25 caliber. Good video and very informative.. Thanks..keep them coming!
Good introduction to the Sumatra Carbine. I have one in .20 caliber which is now 6 years old and it shoots as good as wen it was new. Like you I prefer the Carbine to the long rifle, especially for shooting off hand. To get best accuracy I set mine on 30fpe which is about mid power. You get a lot more good shots on this setting than on full power. With its Lothar Walther barrel, mine will group inside 3/4" at 50 yards. It's a great hunting air rifle.
Man what i nice review i must say. i've been Researching the sumatra for a few weeks now and you review have helped me a lot bro, Unfortunetly in Brazil everything is sooo much more expensive, and its hard to import things from the US cause of the fliping customs here. Well thanks a lot and i'll subscribe now. Cheers bro
There is a check valve on the fill port that open and closes. IT has NO spring. So when bleeding the air line point the muzzle of gun at the ground ( this will help it close) and open up the bleeder as fast as you can. If you have a airhog tank you might have to put a vent hole in on the bleeder vavle. I had to on my valve from them.
Awesome little rifle you have there, I have a career in .22 cal and it's a power house also. You have a cool shooting range too. I was very surpriced at the rifles accuracy very nice!!!!
HI Cricket, and thanks for an excellent review. I must say that I've always discounted owning one of these because of the reports of the noise level. But I see you banging away in your back yard, with neighboring houses quite close. I can only assume you have some great neighbors who also enjoy hunting, and so don't mind the noise of the Sumatra. What power level were you shooting on? The rifle seems deadly accurate at 80 yards too!
This is definitely my next gun, I am curious on how many shots would you get if you start on low power +/- 850 ft/s and dial the power up as more shots go..
Not sure whenI will be getting a new camera and some more guns. My camrea got stolen and I had surgery so funds are low. Sorry hopefully soon I will get anouther one out.
at that power range with JSBS you can get about 24-30 shots and stay between 850-900 I sure if you keep to the 850 side you will get one or two more shots.
My nieghbors are pretty decent. But I dont shoot it alot. It is pretty loud. I was shooting JSBS 25.4gr at 900-880 range. IT is got come decent accuracy In my opinion. A really fun rifle to shootl. On lower power its not to trriebly loud either. I save the full power for at the range in respect for my neighbors.
This carbine version is only a 290cc reservoir so it IS possible, but I wouldn't recommend it. When I first got into PCP I was hand pumping my Prod (65cc) and quickly sold it and bought a guppy tank. For an extra $100 it's well worth it...
Then it is definetly possible, just don't get the higher 500cc or 380cc versions of the gun or you'll be worn out and not want to shoot as much. Anything under 3000psi and 300cc is doable
then get the carbine and buy a hand pump. they only need to be charged up to 3000 PSI and will work below that you will just get less shots and little less power the lower the fill pressure is,
hey cricket i need help filling my sam yang with an air tank. can you help? it wont go past 1000psi and begins to leak air at the fill port. what is wrong?

It has a threaded barrel if you need it to be backyard friendly. Accurate over 100 yards. My best squirrel kill has been a lazered 142 yrds.

Please help! Where can I buy a silencer for this gun??
Cricket1. What again is the size of the oring for the foster fitting. Can you be specific please.
3/8"x1/8"x1/8" Oring the fitting is From BGMF Airguns best fitting out there for a sumatra
which would you all recommend looking at fps/power.. the carbine or rifle?
Have u tride cast bullets yet if so wat weight and fps
yes It would easily take a fox head shot or lung.
will the sumatra load the PCP tank with a pump?

Eric A No scuba stuff where I live in mexico :(

okidoki. thanks for the info. I appreciate it.
Good review, that is as loud as a 22 lr.
will it kill a deer
shoot it in the head I am sure it will take small to medium sized deer but I would go for larger caliber airguns for that myself
This is a excellent price on these guns.
thanks a lot it worked
onde você comprou e quanto custa
wont be for awhile I sold my last one till I move out of town. sorry
when someone is kind enough let me borrow one. Would love to but its just not in the budget right now. Sorry.

Wrap your lever in leather or chord and it will be much easier on your knuckles.
