I'm sorry. This comment has nothing to do with the actual content of this video, but I just love to let your videos play as I work on my journal or when I'm planning my day out in the morning. Listening to you go over ideas just makes me feel all the possibilities when I look at my journals/planners.
I've attached full pages to my journal so far, and I've used post-its as cheap and easy tip-ins, but taping in a page as a dutch door instead of cutting out parts of a page is a really good idea. I hate cutting out dutch doors but I love the look and functionality they provide
I use Tip-Ins for my monthly calendar on the outside edge of the month using washi tape. I use it as a way to see the month at a glance while on my weekly spread. At the end of the month it folds over the weeklies so that the month is contained and finding specific weeks is a bit quicker. I am also a super lazy planner, so I have an excel spreadsheet that creates the monthly calendar populated with my crazy standing meetings that never change. I tried to give a pic, but they won’t attach here 😊

And it works REALLY well for me, but I was running out of journals like crazy. I could put up with 4 months in one journal MAX with everything I put in my bullet journal. Other problems that occured to me was the weeks I didn't do meal plan AND didn't have any book notes to take, so I had that ENTIRE middle page cut out for NOTHING. So I was planning on use this tip-in method to put things only on weeks I need them. So DAMN, this video is so on time for me! Thanks for the tips and ideas!
I do use tip ins in my bujo. The year at a glance will make my gift-making of a journal for my mom easier as she prefers a Sunday - Saturday week, while I am accustomed to using a Monday - Sunday week - a challenge that often leads to mistakes on my part.
I never realized tip-ins could be so useful or that they were called tip-ins. I'll definitely start using them. I've been using an hourly spread, to get a good view of my week and schedule in rest time, I've been wanting to add notes to some events and tasks so I'm going to try and put events on the top of the tip-ins and details underneath.

That would be good for book journals. I would make different prompt topics challenge. Write them down. Shuffle them and put them upside down and backwards in them. So you end up with a double tip in. The first is the kind that look like little books. When you book opens you see the second one. That one you flip up to see the prompt you picked.
Because I keep a more gluebook/smashbook mixed media journal it's MOSTLY tip-ins. LOL I've just found you and am incorporating dutch doors and bujo techniques to add more functionality to my art journal. xoxo
A friend recently introduced Escape Room board games. I use tip-ins to stick the end-game page to my journals. Memory keeping bits makes my bujo feel more alive :D

Ohhh so lovely, Jess! I don't think anyone has made such an in-depth guide to only Tip-Ins. Thank you! Most BuJo vocabulary was a huge problem for me to understand when I first started. People said the words and did the things, but had no explanation lol Maybe you can do another video on other BuJo vocabulary that goes around? Also, not gonna lie, but I was very drawn in cuz it was purple... lol My weakness. Love the idea of diagonal ones! I usually tip-in extra items like cards and thank you notes during a journaling session. I used to scrapbook too, so that mentality is still within me. I like to keep little pieces of paper or items from meaningful events. I kept a piece of Stationery Pal's bubble wrap, because it was purple with hearts on it and it made me happy to see it. Yes, it got super bulky lol For 2022, I have an external piece of paper I want to carry over to my second BuJo. Thank you for that advice. That will be in the front of the notebook once my setup is complete (taking longer than I thought cuz I went up a size T_T lol) Thank you for being such a wonderful teacher

I was the same when I started googling different journaling styles a few years back - & whilst I appreciate it might not be intended, I found the language register in the Bullet Journal Community exceptionally off putting, it was almost like people were trying to create special club of those who 'knew' and those who didn't. So it made me decide then that this style of journaling was not for me, it's definitely very 'cliquey' & I detest that -- and the need to say 'this is how it's done' or it's not bullet journaling etc. I'll journal how I please & call it whatever I want. Exactly 1 week ago I discovered that 'Camba', is actually Canva & is software, but everyone runs it off almost like it's a cool 'word' to say & pronounces it Camba - I thought it was something like a Cricut.....

There used to be a brand of sticky notes - I'm not sure they're around anymore - that had tip-in notes, book style notes (like a long tip-in, folded to make a two "sheets" to flip instead of one), and a couple of other nifty variations. I was so in love with them, but it was a bit too pricy to import them via Pinkoi to Sweden back then. I looked them up again today and realized that I could do all of that with tip-ins - a bit more work than a ready made sticky note, but not much. I'm going to play around so much...
I'm using the Archer & Olive December subscription box month at a glance pages as a tip-in for the journal provided in that box. But I'm not attaching it at the spine. It is on the outside edge of the left hand page with January facing up when you open the journal. Then you flip the extra insert out and there is the color key for my goals, pen sku number or name of the brand / color, and some box count reminders on the back of it. I don't count dots for my layout, I use box count instead. Most of my tip-ins are along the outside edge of the page because I don't like the extra bulk along the spine. Your memorable items as center insert tip-ins is something I did back in high school (1999) for an English project and forgot all about it. Brought back a few memories there. I got into scrapbooking soon after that just because a couple of ladies that I was friends with had a group and it seemed interesting enough to join. I like bullet journaling much more than a dedicated photo / memory scrapbook though. More ability to be minimalist or extra creative at will per day, week, month...whatever. Thanks for all the great ideas and concise video. Your videos tend to be extra helpful.
I use tip-ins to add positive quotes and things like that. I really enjoy using the washi tape kind, but I'd like to use another and use a pretty vellum over a quote 😍
Ahhh! Melbourne zoo brochure! I have one of those (along with many many others ). Not a scrap booker but really want create some memories journals and declutter boxes of analogue photos😅. But I really to go digital cos I won't have space for much

I have been using them for my grid guides for the last couple years, and sometimes for additional pages, but I LOVE the idea of doing that for dutch doors! I've been too nervous to cut so far, so I'll have to try this way.
I used tip ins for my grid guide, correcting an oops(glued a decoration to the wrong page), and a Vellum page to protect the opposite page from marker smudges.
I've used tip-in for my color code key, I use washi to secure it to the front cover. I've been wanting to know how to add a page so thank you for showing that

I have never used a tip-in, but I think they might be viable for something like a habit tracker I could move along throughout the month to each of my weekly spreads. I hate flipping to the habit page every day and I usually give up on them by the end of the month.
Love this video! I use a agenda which used as a bujo and GTD system, I Tip-in in the finacial part, because is short to write all my cash moves monthly, so i add a piece of paper with transparent tape. And in my new agenda I think i could used to move all information i need from the old one.

I made my first tip-in for on the back cover of my August pocket Field Notes size BuJo. It’s out of a 3 pack from Moleskin, and the back pocket in this smallest size is not very usable because they glued it in on 2 sides. I carefully cut it out and taped it back on so it’s a flap I put stickies under. Then I recycled a business card sized calendar with 2023 on one side & 2024 on the other, then taped it to the edge of the flap so I cab flip it out when preparing another week or month. Not sure how much I’ll use either, but I did it to see if they are useful. I might take an unused page out of back of an earlier pocket notebook

I really want to use that, add little extra pieces of paper or cut parts of pages but I'm afraid that it makes it harder to write like..on the next page that it gets uneven and wobbly because there is some 'height' difference behind. Thats why I also don't use stickers :( But I don't like my current journal too much (not a fan of the paper after pen testing and it has a soft cover which I learned I also dont like) maybe thats a chance to try it xD
If you use quite a few it can certainly lead to that unevenness you’re talking about 😝 I’ve found that having just one or two doesn’t lead to enough unevenness to really bother me 😄
Just used tip ins for the first time setting up this year's reading journal. Journal is kraft paper and I decided I wanted the pages for reading challenges to be easily found so used blue dot grid paper from an A & O notebook pad. Not only does it look lovely, but I found a huge mistake I made and it was super easy to just replace one of the pages to fix it. I'm also gonna try the grid spacing tip in at the front of my main bujo as well. Great video explainer thanks!
This video is great, thank you so much! I've used them a couple of times to add in an extra page when I've run our of space in a layout and my grid spacing cheat sheet is on a tip-in. I really like the idea of adding a tip-in for habit trackers so that I use them more!

Depending on what it’s for, I would either write out the list items before sticking in the fold out, or I’d put something under it while I worked like another notebook 😊

I use tip-ins for sensitive journaling space - like something I don't want to show in a photo if I take one to my insta of otherwise cool/cute spread.

I really want to use that, add little extra pieces of paper or cut parts of pages but I'm afraid that it makes it harder to write like..on the next page that it gets uneven and wobbly because there is some 'height' difference behind. Thats why I also don't use stickers :( But I don't like my current journal too much (not a fan of the paper after pen testing and it has a soft cover which I learned I also dont like) maybe thats a chance to try it xD
If you use quite a few it can certainly lead to that unevenness you’re talking about 😝 I’ve found that having just one or two doesn’t lead to enough unevenness to really bother me 😄

Just used tip ins for the first time setting up this year's reading journal. Journal is kraft paper and I decided I wanted the pages for reading challenges to be easily found so used blue dot grid paper from an A & O notebook pad. Not only does it look lovely, but I found a huge mistake I made and it was super easy to just replace one of the pages to fix it. I'm also gonna try the grid spacing tip in at the front of my main bujo as well. Great video explainer thanks!

This video is great, thank you so much! I've used them a couple of times to add in an extra page when I've run our of space in a layout and my grid spacing cheat sheet is on a tip-in. I really like the idea of adding a tip-in for habit trackers so that I use them more!

I used a tip-in for a key in my last journal but I rarely referred to it so I didn't do it again this year.
Fair! I find that once you know your key, you don’t really need the reference so much 😄

Wouldnt that be hard to write on, since it dont have anything behind/can't lay flat when it's opened?
Depending on what it’s for, I would either write out the list items before sticking in the fold out, or I’d put something under it while I worked like another notebook 😊
