    Hi team! 💜 This video took a hot minute to make, so I very much hope you find it helpful! 😄 If you did get value from it though, make sure to "like" the video so TH-cam makes sure you see more of my reading journal content 👌 A cheeky sub never goes amiss too 😉 haha 😛

    Along side "favorite authors", I'd add "favorite narrators". Because I've picked up audiobooks based solely on who narrates it.

      Have you checked out Levar Burton reads podcast? He reads short stories and OMG he's amazing narrating them! I get so sucked into listening and have found authors I enjoyed that I went back to look up longer novels by them.

      OOOOH this so much this! I can't tell ya how many times I forgot to PREVIEW that and immediately got a refund from Audible. HARD NO! I did make it through one recommended by my bestie but I swear the woman sounded like she was about to say, "but wait, there's more...." It was so sales-pitchy. Zero warmth and I just couldn't wait for the book to be over. So going to add this to mine! You rock

      I'd like this actually, maybe just lowkey ways to track what you've read and when. I'm very much so a mood reader, so I never can predict what the next book will be. I tend to just write on my weeklies "read *insert books here as I read them*" along the margins

    • @lesap8889

    Me: a mood reader, this is neat. Shame I will start and never fill out a single page 😂 so jealous of those who can keep up with a reading journal

    • @JashiiCorrin
      @JashiiCorrin  หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      I consider myself to be more of a mood reader, but I like to have a list of things to pull from. Essentially rather than a "TBR" it functions more of a "I thought this looked cool at some point" list 😝

    • @mally7512
      @mally7512 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @JashiiCorrin i might need to join that mindset. My kindle unlimited queue keeps getting filled, and I keep having to bump a book for a new one 🤣 I'm hitting 2025 reading journal hard. Just letting the rest of this year finish up in the chaos it usually does.

    A lot of library patrons also track what books they check out and the due dates. It can also help to track when you return books in case there is any mix up at the library!

    • @JashiiCorrin

      Good idea 👌 and I know people who have extensive book collections themselves keep a log of who they’ve borrowed books to as well 😄💜

  • @cvvzdesigns

    I wrote down 28 to add to my media journal setup under the book section. 😌Some will also work for the webcomics, but there's a very different way I need to track those, as I'll go through 40-130 of their "chapters" a day. Similar to my viewing and music tracking. Thank you for all your efforts putting these videos together for us! 😍💜🤯

    I agree about the book bracket and since most do it a book per month, it's extra hard when you have the dud months or months where you read multiple amazing books. Love this video!!

    • @JashiiCorrin
      @JashiiCorrin  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Exactly! Some very worthy books don’t even get to see the light of the bracket because something in the month was better, and then other books who really shouldn’t be there slip in because they were the best of a “bad bunch” 😝 glad you enjoyed the video! 💜

    Ooh love this, so many ideas! This has been my first year with a dedicated reading journal and I've had such fun with it, already started planning 2025. I use some of these spreads already but there's definitely some that are new to me, I've made notes!
    Also on team 'I hate book brackets' I dont understand why everything has to be a competition 😅 To be fair, I do understand why people use them, I just hate rating things, I find it stressful like I'm going to be marked on how well I rate things, which I know is unhinged 😂

    • @JashiiCorrin

    the "read their catalogue" section is something I haven't done before but I'm planning on including in my 2025 reading journal. I'm gonna have it for Ruby Dixon, Darcy Coates, Brandon Sanderson, and Terry Pratchett. they've all got such huge backlists that I need a place to keep track of what I have and haven't read yet.

    I don't usually leave comments but I always love watching your videos, and keep wanting to use the ideas you share, however I have severe hand tremors and my handwriting is really bad so I end up feeling discouraged when I try to replicate the idea for my own journal and it looks sad and illegible. Regardless, that won't stop me from enjoying your videos!! I loved the 'non-fiction topics to explore' section, as someone who almost exclusively reads non-fiction for school and self-learning, it's something I really want to try.

      Thanks for leaving a comment, it's really appreciated! 💜If it helps, I've been enjoying doing headers using the type-print-stick method 😝 Great for lettering styles that we realistically can't do ourselves, or would take too much time/effort/energy to do neatly. Might be a good trick for you too 😊

      I second the suggestion for typing and then printing it out... are you able to use something like Canva to create your pretty backgrounds, then add your typing/talk to text before printing? You don't even have to print, but it's nice to have something physically in hand to go through later in life (Days, months, years. Just... later.).

    • @syruswolfe5069
      @syruswolfe5069 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@cvvzdesigns I will certainly look into it, I don't have a personal printer, but my school does, I'm sure I can make a batch of pages and headers for the coming month or however long and then print it and bring it home. I'm so excited now, you have no idea, I'm going to look and see what websites there are that can help make pretty designs, I know Canva is one. Oh my goodness, thank you both for the suggestions, I was so nervous putting a comment because I was unsure if it would be taken as rude or if people would be unwelcoming or unkind. Thank you so much!!!!

    Another point for the matrix vs the book bracket- you can use all the books you enjoyed in a year, and none of the books you didn’t (if you had a bad reading month, why should one of those books be included? And if two of your favourites for the whole year were in the same month, why should the second best book of the year not even make it onto the board?). As long as you have enough squares height/width wise, or are willing to do it in a program and print and stick instead, go wild and include all the best books and none of the ones you wish you could forget

    i have tried to keep a reading journal, but i read too much. i would get behind on journaling and not catch back up. i really wished i had the patience to do a real book journal like this.... but i don't. for the most part, i don't see a book and think "have i read that before?" but " i have read this same plot line in 5 other books..." if i love a book/author enough, they will be on my trophy book case

  • @ramblinganna
    @ramblinganna 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I totally understand why you don‘t like the book bracket, but you could sue it as a challenge instead, so at the beginning of the year, month or quarter, whatever time period suits you, you could pick out 12 books from your TBR and randomly pit them against each other and do a number of book battles across that time period. Hmmm, I think I am actually going to do that myself next year!

    I was unable to read all of the questions on the review questions list. One of my first questions regarding music, videos, or books, is would I re-consume this content? There are some stores I redo every year. As we are approaching October I will list those, "Something wicked this way comes", "The Halloween tree"(book and movie), and The Poe collection. First question, would I do this Again? Christina 🦝 P.S. What is a Trope? I never heard this word until today, and Webster's definition left it less than clear.

    • @JashiiCorrin
      @JashiiCorrin  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      A trope is something that happens time and time again in stories. Something like “oh no, there’s only one bed at the inn and now our reluctant main characters have to share a bed”, or the main couple getting annoyed at each other / breaking up because they didn’t communicate clearly / at all. It’s like a common plot device 😛 something you find in lots of different books/movies/etc
