this is my dream! but unfortunately I can not buy it, I live in Russia and for me it is very very expensive .... I am happy for those who have this bike! :)
Great overview of the new bike! The reach numbers really catch my attention. This bike may peel me off my 2017 Yeti SB5+! I'll need to throw a leg over it soon and see how it compares!
Agreed! I might come off my 5.5 for this after I get another season on it. Will have to test one of these out from my LBS and maybe put a frame on layaway before it's over with.
Nice indepth review! Sure it's not as visual appealing as other product presentations but for a "vlog" it's perfectly fine. I really enjoyed the amount of information.
This makes me wanna sell my 2017 Enduro S-works and get a 29er long travel... not sure wether the less travel would hinder me though... well done on the amazing video though! Super good info!
I love how fast mine rolls. I made my other bike street friendly and yet with its stock knobbies it’s still fast. I keep scraping my pedals like crazy. I think the crank arms are too long for me or there’s just to much sag
Danny and Alan - really like all the new vids your doing - great stuff. This is really good too. Lots of detail and tech. However how come the Specs press camp resulted in 23mins of info and the YT press camp of the Capras resulted in 3 mins? At a minimum I think the same attention should have been paid to both, and id argue that the maybe the YT is a more important bike to your target market. I certainly see more of them around than Specs.
Thanks for the kind words, It's much appreciated. In answer to your question, a lot of it is down to how much time we have on the launch. The Spesh launch was three days long, so we had time to get the bikes and do the walkaround video. Other launches can be really manic, with early starts, late back to hotel and then a quick turnaround for dinner, so you don't get the much free time with the bikes.
Understood. Can see how that happens. When that occurs maybe consider a follow up video when back from the trip. Could just be a 10 min vid in the workshop with a bit more info and product shots cut in. Some considered thoughts when not in the midst of a press camp may well be valued. Easy to do and only needs a light script. Would generate views for sure. When these bike launches there is always a flood of info on day 1 then nothing for ages so filling that gap could yield results. Anyway maybe experiment and see what happens.
I have the short travel and upgraded component on it to make it more aggressive. Is it me or does this bike suit a more experience rider I'm not digging it too much is fast but if you don't make a right line choice you pay for it. What are your thoughts
The only thing I hate about Specialized putting this out is that it renders my 2017 Stumpjumper super obsolete. What a fantastic bike. I am now regretting last year's purchase. Demyu Specialized.
I know the feeling having recently bought the Expert in rocket red earlier this year (end of season sale) having saved long and hard despite personal difficulties, I set my heart on that bike a couple of years so emotionally it' has much more significance. Next year will see a new bike and so on, but the important thing is to remember is that I absolutely love riding it and it is more capable of doing things than I am and think it is the best colour by a long way. Ride what you have an enjoy it, that is what ultimately matters as there will always be the next thing, the new product the latest bike etc.
I'd get the large. You'll get used to it in no time. Just check your inside leg against the seat tube length and dropper post height though, just to make sure. I'm 178cm and i had around 4cm of seatpost out of the frame for my correct saddle height.
Last time we shot one of these with a tripod everyone complained it was too static and boring! Not sure it's possible to please everyone, so we're concentrating on trying to pack in as much information and insight as possible.
I don't remember talking about top tube as it's a pretty redundant measurement. In terms of seat angle, I'd probably prefer if it was a bit steeper, but for my height on a large frame, I just pushed the seat slightly forward on the rails and it was fine.
Sorry if there was too much fishy. Not sure of the best format for these selfie vlogs with limited equipment. A tripod set-up can get really boring because the angle never changes, and the handheld thing can be unflattering unless you're a super model! Tried the gimbal too, but it gets really heavy to hold at arms length for 20 minutes. Any better suggestions gratefully received.
Your voice is distorted really bad, might be mic position too close. Also the rear wheel raised up stops us seeing the geometry of the bike. Great vid though Thanks.
Sorry if it was a bit much. Last time we did it with a tripod and narrower field of view and got complaints that it was too static! Hard to know what the best solution is for selfie vids. Ideas welcome!
Whoa! Easy there! Let's try to help each other here. Narrow field, people complaint and fish eye, people complaint. So why not try in between?....use wide angle shot?
Ignore that - someone about to drop many thousands on this bike would certainly appreciate this video, as is, for free, no matter what the camera angle is.
The Demo shock mounts to the down tube, no? This looks exactly like a Rallon i.e. mounted to the top tube, except mirrored i.e. left side vs right side. How do you say Johnnie Cochran in Spanish?
More of a description than review. Sorry, couldn't make it past 8 mins in the video - same comments as others, self-recording wasn't great... it's a bike not your grandma's vase - go ride it, and show us that! Also, very little info to be had...
You're missing the point man... which is - your presentation needs improvement. If this presentation were a meal, it'd be a salad. with no dressing. But then, salads are supposed to be good for you, which I don't think can be said about this video... Also, first looks by definition are brief and not 20 mins long... If you want an example of well presented video, check out MC commute - very entertaining and informative... or you can do it like trail peek and just ride the crap out the bike...
We're always striving to improve, and we fully admit that presenting doesn't come naturally, so we have to work at it. But we were all print journalists originally and now we have to be presenters too, which is fine, but we can only do our best. As such we got this video shot and edited to go live in time for a tight embargo the day the bike launched (as well as shoot photos for web and print and write two stories for print and one for the web) and at that point in time it was pretty in-depth.
There's only one pivot that does anything.i.e. the wheel path is at best, rotating around that pivot, but actually slightly worse because of that tiny 4 bar setup.
So if I want to buy the none ST Version that’s got 150-140 29er expert version I have to buy it in that disgusting blue color as that’s the only color it comes in .. I will stick to my Orbea Rallon purchase that I’m about to order in next few weeks .its like Specialized don’t want us to buy there bikes as the colors are just horrid and rushed and no ideas at all . The ST version of the Bike is black and really nice so why can’t we have the None ST in that color ? What a waste !!
Thanks for the support! You've got a fair point though - it was a stream of consciousness, but there was a lot of info to cram in, and I don't have the time to practise a presentation - i just have to roll with it.
Toilet Dude. I’m not an expert, but according to the vid, if anyone copied anyone, it is Orbea copying Specialized who had the sidearm design first with the Demo 8. Discussion begins at 6:30.
Why not just dump the Stumpjumper name alltogether. These 6 bikes are all different and dont bare any DNA to the original Stumpy. Marketing hype. Fugly bike. Headache inducing video.
this is my dream! but unfortunately I can not buy it, I live in Russia and for me it is very very expensive .... I am happy for those who have this bike! :)
Great review! That Evo had you grinning like a kid on Christmas ;)
Nice work in presenting a great range of information on this bike, guys. Thanks for the depth and varied shots!
This ticks a lot of boxes for me! Thanks for this.
ThunderStruckCoach oh yea?
Loved the in-depth review

Nice indepth review! Sure it's not as visual appealing as other product presentations but for a "vlog" it's perfectly fine. I really enjoyed the amount of information.
Would have been nice if we actually got a closer look at the bike
This makes me wanna sell my 2017 Enduro S-works and get a 29er long travel... not sure wether the less travel would hinder me though... well done on the amazing video though! Super good info!
Good, raw info video. Thanks!
Great video. I wish it was slightly lighter and it should come with GX for the Carbon Comp.
I love how fast mine rolls. I made my other bike street friendly and yet with its stock knobbies it’s still fast. I keep scraping my pedals like crazy. I think the crank arms are too long for me or there’s just to much sag

Excellent review.
I enjoyed that 👍
ST bike is replacing the CAMBER, I heard. Stumpy all the way !
I'm glad. The Camber was just ehhh compared to the other big bike companies.
18:38 YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
where is that ? 0:15 -at the beginning of the video

I'm running a 2015 stumpjumper comp evo 29er. To be fair with my distinctly average riding ability I'd probably not notice much of a difference.
What was the original SJ Evo?
Both Super nice 👍
Please invest in a tripod. Selfie-stick doesn’t give great footage
or new gopro with stabilisation :)
dude on that sick slackjumper evo s3 u got can u slam that 150mm seat post all way to collar? n what would u say that build weighs? cheers
I'm afraid i didn't try to slam the seat post. And no build weights yet, sorry!
oups, you broke the embargo !
what do they weigh with the alloy frame?
Maine Trout Whisperer 33lbs
Its a light version of the orbea rallon???
looking to get into a new stumpy. I stand at 177cm, which seems to put me between a medium and a large. What size would you suggest?
I'd get the large. You'll get used to it in no time. Just check your inside leg against the seat tube length and dropper post height though, just to make sure. I'm 178cm and i had around 4cm of seatpost out of the frame for my correct saddle height.
Mountain Bike Rider Appreciate the advice. Thanks!
2018 Intense Recluse DVO or this? Help me guys please. I've been out of the mtb game for awhile.
An investment into a tripod would be advisable.
Last time we shot one of these with a tripod everyone complained it was too static and boring! Not sure it's possible to please everyone, so we're concentrating on trying to pack in as much information and insight as possible.
This bike or a Jekyll 4 2018?
Whats the song/music when he’s riding at the very start??
Talked head angle, BB height, top tube length, chain stay length...why no mention of seat angle?!?!?
I don't remember talking about top tube as it's a pretty redundant measurement. In terms of seat angle, I'd probably prefer if it was a bit steeper, but for my height on a large frame, I just pushed the seat slightly forward on the rails and it was fine.
Mountain Bike Rider thanks for the reply! 👍🏻
Mountain Bike Rider...but what IS the seat tube angle?
Why don't you use a tripod
First person, fish-eye lens view is not a good way to present a new bike. it's distracting and unflattering!
Who gives a shit? A rather shallow, superficial viewpoint. It's the content that's important.
Joe Juan I couldn't watch the whole video either. At least get a gimbal or change the setting so it's not on super wide. Very tough to watch.
gweflj if the content is all that matters then they could've just taken pictures a d written an article.... But they didn't so...
We did write an article as well, but you're not on TH-cam to read an article!
Sorry if there was too much fishy. Not sure of the best format for these selfie vlogs with limited equipment. You knees must ache after that 20 mins of being in that one spot talking.
Hi Danny, how tall are you if you don't mind?
Were you riding a medium?
Hi Greg, I'm 5ft 10in and I rode a large at the launch. Cheers!
hehehe "rigid member" @ 8:56
I tested the bike on Happy Bike days @ houffalize wat a great bike
How much travel for the evo?
Marco Palacios 150/140mm 29" and 150/150mm 27.5
150/150mm for 27.5in, 150/140mm for 29in.
Mountain Bike Rider what is the UK price of the Evo ?
Not sure yet, still awaiting confirmation.
Yay for the price of a car you can get a bicycle..
Or a wedding ring.
Still waiting for a 61 HTA and a 610mm reach.
No more stupid specialized propriety shit. I'm so happy I might add one to my stable.
Wait wait let me guess...In conclusion you guys like the Vitus??!!😂
your camera is clearly Parkison's affected...
Good info, but no the best delivery, pick up the pace.
Sorry - lots of info to pack in and it was all off the cuff - didn't have time to write a script or even bullet points with all the main features.
29 er no, 27,5 YES !!!!!!!!!!!!! :D
Guys I had to stop watching and go to another vid. Fisheye lens, talking at the camera for 5 minutes? No thanks! Please do better presentation
Sorry if it was a bit much. Last time we did it with a tripod and narrower field of view and got complaints that it was too static! Hard to know what the best solution is for selfie vids. Ideas welcome!
Use wide lens instead of fish eye and also use gimbal(if you have budget). It should work.
Whoa! Easy there! Let's try to help each other here. Narrow field, people complaint and fish eye, people complaint. So why not try in between?....use wide angle shot?
Ignore that - someone about to drop many thousands on this bike would certainly appreciate this video, as is, for free, no matter what the camera angle is.
Totally agree with you. If they need an advice, would love to help them. Complaining about the video is pointless.
Can you test the new cube stereo 140mm
The Demo shock mounts to the down tube, no?
This looks exactly like a Rallon i.e. mounted to the top tube, except mirrored i.e. left side vs right side.
How do you say Johnnie Cochran in Spanish?
True, but let’s not forget that the whole shock yoke/extender configuration on the Rallon was ‘inspired’ by the Stumpjumper, Enduro and Camber.
Danny Milner So Spec have called J.C then? ;-)
So much fisheye :(. Kinda tough to watch.
Sorry .. 5 minutes in and I couldn't watch this any more!!!
new upload karo
Well Built Hybrid bike
Is this coming new e-bike model ?
Not my type of review, I got bored in less than 5 mins, he is covering half screen and talking about company rather than this bike.
Speecialised must be wrapped
It would have been totally Ok, to not see you 90% while talking...could have spent more time on the bike...
More of a description than review. Sorry, couldn't make it past 8 mins in the video - same comments as others, self-recording wasn't great... it's a bike not your grandma's vase - go ride it, and show us that! Also, very little info to be had...
It was never billed as a review, just a first look. It says as much in the title.
You're missing the point man... which is - your presentation needs improvement. If this presentation were a meal, it'd be a salad. with no dressing. Looks like a Orbea Rallon.
Thats only the carbon model.
Therear suspension (a basic single-pivot above the BB) is very crude. Could try harder spesh.
It's not a single pivot, it's a four-bar linkage
There's only one pivot that does anything.i.e. the wheel path is at best, rotating around that pivot, but actually slightly worse because of that tiny 4 bar setup.
someone buy this to me pls.
Looks like a mirror image of an orbea rallon.
All I want to see is the stumpy evo. Who cares about this bitch bike :p
Ha ha, "rigid member"
Terrible presentation. Ideas are all jumbled. It seems he’s just saying whatever comes to his mind first.
Thanks for the support! You've got a fair point though - it was a stream of consciousness, but there was a lot of info to cram in, and I don't have the time to practise a presentation - i just have to roll with it.
Nice bike but the longest 7 hours of my life. Monotonous.
2 year project yet chose the most disgusting colour
Totaaaaallllyyy didn't copy orbea
Toilet Dude. I’m not an expert, but according to the vid, if anyone copied anyone, it is Orbea copying Specialized who had the sidearm design first with the Demo 8. Discussion begins at 6:30.

Enjoyed it then!
Scott makes better bikes. Keep your Specialized.
Sure. That's the only brand i'd go over Scott.
asymmetrical frame = super ugly
Loads of good info, thanks.
