Tattooing 101-How I Taper In And Out

- Have you practiced tapering in & out?
In this video I go over how I go about tapering in and out and why I feel it is important to learn this fundamental as early as possible.
For me learning how to taper in and out of lines when tattooing will make for a much better read on the tattoo which again to me results in better quality work.
Why is the work better quality when knowing how to taper in and out?
To me when I have seen lines where the tapers where even a small bit off it would reflect on the overall read of the tattoo. Essentially the tapers that weren't correct were eye catchers and thats where the initial attention goes from the viewer over reading a nice tattoo.
That is simply how I look at it. As where tapering in and out correctly will allow us more freedom to complete longer lines with fewer mistakes. There is probably a whole list of others reasons why tapering in and out is very useful but for me these are some apparent reasons that come to mind.
Taping in and out can also be done with essentially any configuration of your choice that you're comfortable using.

Love how you not only show up close how you tattoo lines but allow us to know what you are thinking! Great instructions! Thanks! 🙏Poppy
I thank you for your time and support!
I genuinely appreciate you.
I do my best to elaborate as much as I possibly can, it’s not for everyone. Some would be bored of my rambles, some would say I talk too much, some would say I am thorough and everything in between. Haha
Again I appreciate your feedback and support! Thank you very much.
Don’t hesitate to let me know if you have any questions at all, I will do my best to assist you in the best possible direction 🤝
Your TH-cam should be bigger and is massively underrated.
Thank you for the kind feedback and support!
I appreciate you.
i am so glad that you exist and do these vids man, much love
I can't believe I just got excited over a bunch of lines BUT THEY ARE SO GOOD!!!!
Best TH-cam tattoo teacher 👨🏫 💯💯💯
I have random questions. Say I did some black line work then go over that line with color, can it remove the the black? Or is the black locked in and always dominant?
That’s another great question!
So to my understanding and from what I have experienced and seen , the only thing that can cover black is more black.
So say we outline a tattoo on black and full it in with color , the color can be packed over the black but the black will always remain dominant if I am correct.
Excellent technique, tnx for this video. Ur channel helps a lot especially for the beginners.. keep it up sir..💯
Broh, your lines are insane... Great job. I'm learning from you; if I have any problems with costumers, I'm gonna lead them to you... LOL.... Great Job.
😆 thank you for your time and support! It really means a lot to me.
I’m glad I can help you in a better direction. Don’t hesitate to let me know if you have any questions at all, I will do my best to assist you in the best possible direction 🤝

Thank you for your time, feedback and support James!
It means a lot to me.
I feel this is a cool video I maybe able to accomplish. Me personally I despise doing circles haha just because there is no room for error which makes me a bit un-easy. Allow me to figure out a format and I will bring something like this to life for you all.
Again Thank you very much for your time and support!
Don't hesitate to let me know if you ever have any questions. I will do my best to assist you in the best possible direction.

Thnx bro i watch your all videos🤞🙏
Very informative, thanks a bunch buddy
Question bro, what its the voltaje that you usually use to make lines at a one timen?
Where did you get this practice skin?
Great video! appreciate the help!
what do you mean by “find the dermis”? when do you know you’re inking the right spot
That’s actually a great question!
So upon pulling lines or inputting ink into the skin there’s a specific resistance in the skin I am tuning in for. When this resistance takes place I know I am where I need to be. Over me trying to explain via comment section I actually made an in depth video on how I approach finding the dermis right here th-cam.com/video/Iu22AUUnppM/w-d-xo.html
Don’t hesitate to let me know if you have any questions at all. I will do my best to assist you in the best possible direction 🤝
@@DanielYuck wow..thank you..didnt know there was a feeling to look for 👍
I visualize it like this 🛬🛫
Hahaha now that’s a very very good illustration!! I can definitely see that too lol 😆
I can even hear the sounds taking off and landing haha
Are you using a liner machine or shader?
Do you taper out as when you fully connect the line? Let’s say A to B, when you reach B do we still taper it or not ?
No. You’d stop right at it, not taper out.
Why do ink flows more from the needle while lining?!
Do you have a video of dragon hawk pen type
What needle is it?
I’m using a precision 18 Rs in this video. I’ll link you below.

Why you re doing lines with the flat needles? On the real skin that gonna be mess with multiple blow outs……You can taper your lines , much better and much safer or skin friendly, with the simple liner rounders……
I’m not sure I fully understand what you’re saying, for that I apologize. If possible, may you elaborate for me please ?
From my experience any tattoo artist can use any needle as they as the artist see fit. Some would like to pull lines with round shaders over round liners in which I’ve seen many many many artists do and still do with great success.
I also feel in terms of being much “safer or skin friendly” would come down to the tattoo artist abilities to use different needle sizes and configurations. It really isn’t where the round shaders are made for shading even tho some may disagree and say they are which is also fine, but for me I will use a round shaders for bold lining or even a bigger round liner configuration for bold lining. It comes down to the expertise the artist has to avoid blowouts, skin damage etc, not the needles expertise.
Also what are liner rounders? I have yet to hear that term so I am unfamiliar with what that is.
@@DanielYuck No problem bro, I can elaborate…..To taper the bold lines , skin friendly and safe, better use some straight bugpins, soft edge magnums or any liner needles ( 35 mm ) ….They re all much more skin friendly then the long taper magnums….. Just a humble tip from me …. And keep your good work my man….All the best…🤙
@@dudedude4034 I appreciate your kind insight and support. It means a lot to me.
I will speak on my approach because that is all that I have. So for me I do not nor would I ever line with a magnum. Although I have seen people do it I myself am not comfortable with that approach because I use round liners and round shaders for my lines.
The design I am doing is going to determine the needles that will be used in that design at hand. For me I will use magnums when I am packing large areas, shading larger areas, or maybe use the magnum on a leaf to get multiple lines close together by using and treating the magnum as if it were a round liner or shader.
I truly feel in terms of damage to the skin, when we think about it every needle damages the skin. When we pull a super clean crisp line, we just damaged the skin. So this is why I say the capabilities of the artist will determine how the skin is damaged. The methods in which I demonstrate in this video are the exact methods I use on human skin. The tattoos I have done do not heal with textures or raised areas which is something I personally am truly proud of. haha
Thank you for taking the time too elaborate back and to watch my video.
