Nice video, the finger drag is something I was never able to make work personally, but that leverage is so key to maintaining depth consistency. I like seeing this technique even though I have a different method to leverage the depth using the side of my hand & fist. Another major factor for me is if the cartridges fit well in the machine. Surprisingly, I don't find Big Wasp to be too bad even though it's one of the much cheaper brands. My fav affordable cartridge brand is Stigma for sure.. I'm not a tattoo artist, I know nothing about this art. That being said, I feel like I can hear a good cadence from your machine when you're moving it at the right speed and voltage. It sounds much different when you're going to fast or slow. Do you use auditory cues as a guide, or is it mostly just the general feel of everything? On a side note, when I was in high school, a dude in my class was an amazing artist. He told us back then (over 20 years ago; late 90s) that he was going to be a tattoo artist. We didn't think much of it, and I definitely didn't think it was really going to turn into a legitimate career for him. Again this was over 20 years ago and tattooing wasn't as socially acceptable. Fast forward to today, and that same dude is doing amazing. He's one of the most successful people in our graduating class. He has his own shop, and travels all over the place to do conventions. This is a great business to get into if you are artistic. I bet a lot of our teachers would be very surprised to see that guy today... he's kicking ass.
Quick question. Wouldn’t the stencil smear off if you’re dragging your middle finger with the needle? And also I’m pretty comfortable doing vertical lines But having a hard time doing line horizontally. Any tips on that? (I try not to rotate my fake skin around, and think of it as an actual body part)
Personally I turn around my client, when it’s possible, to pull the line to me ! I think it’s the more stable configuration to keep the right depth. I stand up sometimes, putting my elbows and forearms on the client / the table / the arm rest table when it’s possible too

@@DanielYuck hey Daniel, that's great thanks. One question...do you pull from the shoulder or wrist? I was doing shoulder for everything but found it inconsistent for small lines.
Thats a good one! I am uncertain how it would work for others but from my experience building up my muscle memory and getting more comfortable with the tattooing process this method worked for me. I feel it would vary from artist to artist on how their needle would enter the skin. Some artist have a particular hold and grip on their machine which makes when perform and posterize a specific way. I think if this is something we are just trying out for the first time and unfamiliar with how we need and hold our needle for the line at hand we may end up with inconsistent results. Im certain technical expertise also plays a huge part as well.
Hey Daniel- question about lining with round shader; when I work along with the video I seem to get a series of super thin lines within each line, like from each needle tip in the configuration. Also the slower I go the more damage or cutting happens on the fake skin. Suggestions? What stroke do you suggest using on the fake skin. It seems that its either too light (always having to go back over them) or too deep (cutting the skin)
Thing is... This all changes with skin because of the many skin types and areas on the body skin differs also. Like the upper leg. Very fleshy then as you move towards the knee the skin is totally different
Only have a couple big liners left, use a 9rs.... i just don't see qhy people still sell M1's.... when RM's are 95% only used. Do yall use Flat Mags? If so for what exactly?
There’s a lot of great brands out there! Dynamic black, Allegory Blak, Intenze, I’ve heard good things about many other brands but these come to mind off of the top. I have multiple reviews on multiple tattoo inks in my channel. If you head over to the video section you can type in “ink” and see the video reviews I’ve done.
Apparently the voltages i line with vs what I use to pack black and colors is backwards from most lol. In line with 8.1v but I pack with only 6.8v at most 7.5 (very rare) I also shade in that area. Most folks line at a lower power than the pack at. With some even having 1 consistent voltage throughout
Hey I’ve got one question. What do you do when you can’t pull a complete line and have to stop in the middle? Are you finding the dermis right on the point where you stopped before?
Every piece of content I’ve consumed and person I have talked to has told me to overlap them slightly in order to help you stay on one consistent path through the entirety of the line.
is it ok to go over lines again if you don't get it dark enough the first time? I figure that leaves room for error, but I'd also be worried about hurting the client more
@@jardelsilva6162 Had to use google translate, I hope I understand correctly. What do you mean by break the line? Literally break the skin? Or mess up the form?
@@DrownedPirate it’s okay to overlap once or twice, but it can cause unnecessary damage to the skin and make healing time longer, I’ve been struggling with needing to overlap too that’s why I’m here 🤣
Do you even recommend lining with a RS? Every time I’ve done it i can see the lines from the needles it doesn’t look as solid as if I used a liner. What am I doing wrong
Has your middle finger ever slipped while pulling a line? the middle finger thing seems to work for a lot of people in the comment but i’m worried my finger would slip causing a wonky line
I've watched a few videos of tattooing in slow motion and it looks like the needle doesn't even go into the skin I wonder why cuz it looks like u go mm into the skin

Love your videos. They are so helpful! I do have a question, what are your thoughts about wasp needles? I’ve had some problems with them. Have you had any issues?
i just started tattoo'ing and im completely comfortable pulling at 11-12.5 its hella hard to keep that shi straight but if i practice more i think i could get it down, for now i think imma move that voltage to 9
So I've been told to stabilize by planting my pinky on whatever I'm tattooing (which kills my pinky tbh). But with your technique, are you constantly moving your middle finger, pinky, and entire palm along with you as you go? So nothing is "planted"?
What would you say about pain threshold in relation to voltage and hand speed, my gf can’t take the pain i pull nice lines on me but I hold back a bit with her and of course, no saturation lol so I told her okay this line is gonna hurt and with no care for her clenching i got a nice line pulled on a crescent moon! So i guess im asking whats more painful in your opinion fast pull at high voltage or low and slow? Thanks again bro 🇨🇦👍
Thank you! I’m actually getting a solid understanding of these fundamentals.. My only question.. You say that you use your middle finger to stabilize the needle and your thumb to control the depth. I totally get the middle finger bit, but I’m a little unclear on the thumb.. Could you elaborate a little bit further on that? Other than that amazing as always! From the bottom of my heart, thank you!
I'm scared of the pain. I did a small little triangle on my cab, because my legs have the most fat there so i assumed it wouldn't hurt as much. But I want to give my self a small, simple butterfly tattoo on my chest and a snake tattoo in my inner forearm, and I'm just scared of the needle. How can I do it without feeling the pain??
Hey, did you tattoo yourself already? I really hope I caught you in time or else you probably already know what I'ma say. I'd highly suggest practicing on synthetic skin... Then from there just do your thighs and legs yourself... Anywhere else can get really hard to do yourself, and I guarantee that you will scar yourself with keloids. Save those important areas for a professional who can stretch it properly thus making is hurt less. I know from experience that a bad tattoo somewhere "important" can ruin your quality of life and shatter your self esteem. Also there is tattoo numbing creams, but I've never used them and I'm not sure if they work.

This video is helping so much I've watched 20 times and I still learn something new 😊😅. Thank you for everything brother.

This is the best explanatiom
Yeah your hand speed has to match the voltage and you got to be on you got to be smooth you got to stretch the skin different things like that
Wow this video helped a lot. Thank you
Thing is... This all changes with skin because of the many skin types and areas on the body skin differs also. Like the upper leg. Very fleshy then as you move towards the knee the skin is totally different
7,5 voltage? I have been taught 11 for lines and 8 for shading.
Can the practice skin used in the video share the purchased link? thanks
Another awesome video brother ll done 💪💪💪
Only have a couple big liners left, use a 9rs.... i just don't see qhy people still sell M1's.... when RM's are 95% only used. Do yall use Flat Mags? If so for what exactly?
What kind of ink is safe to use? I don't want no infection..
What is the stroke of your machine? 4.0? 3.7? 3.5?
Hi! Do you have a preference on angle and direction of tip? I have a hard time getting 1 pass lines without textured heal on anything over a 7 😖
Really helpful thanks 🙂
Yoo!! Thanks man I got inspired by this. 🙌
Is it important to hold the machine at a certain ankle? Does it negatively influence the healed result if you hold it wrong or does it not matter?
Apparently the voltages i line with vs what I use to pack black and colors is backwards from most lol. In line with 8.1v but I pack with only 6.8v at most 7.5 (very rare) I also shade in that area. Most folks line at a lower power than the pack at. With some even having 1 consistent voltage throughout
Hey I’ve got one question. What do you do when you can’t pull a complete line and have to stop in the middle? Are you finding the dermis right on the point where you stopped before?
bump, i want to know too
Every piece of content I’ve consumed and person I have talked to has told me to overlap them slightly in order to help you stay on one consistent path through the entirety of the line.
i tend to taper out and then slightly come back on that last line and taper bk in to the depth
is it ok to go over lines again if you don't get it dark enough the first time? I figure that leaves room for error, but I'd also be worried about hurting the client more
I know you have to for shading, but I'm wondering if lines are different, or if it's more of an efficiency/polish thing
Na verdade vai ocorrer algo pior mano
Estourar o traço e ficar algo feio ... Sou do Brasil RIO DE JANEIRO
I'm still working on this. I appreciate all of your content! #DanielYuck
What if u used a 5rl and ended up with 5 lines instead of one solid line. Looks exactly like it's doing the Italian hand 👌
What do you use to moist the skin?
What is the depth of your stroke? I use a 3.6 mm stroke
I thought the machine was supposed to face the direction you're pulling? His is completely sideways and not facing the direction. Any one know?
With as strongly as you’re holding in the line and pulling do you experience color blow out during the healing process?
What stroke are you using?
How do I get the ink in the needle? 1st timer?
Great video 👍

can I have free samples of any of ur cartridges? im from toronto and would like to start tattooing i watch most of ur videos!!
Love your videos. They are so helpful! I do have a question, what are your thoughts about wasp needles? I’ve had some problems with them. Have you had any issues?
What machine do you use and what were the issues? I was about to buy some of their cartridges 😅
i just started tattoo'ing and im completely comfortable pulling at 11-12.5 its hella hard to keep that shi straight but if i practice more i think i could get it down, for now i think imma move that voltage to 9
great video
What is the stroke 3.5 or 4.0?
Grazie per i consigli 🙌
So I've been told to stabilize by planting my pinky on whatever I'm tattooing (which kills my pinky tbh). But with your technique, are you constantly moving your middle finger, pinky, and entire palm along with you as you go? So nothing is "planted"?
Are you using a mag needle
Can I see how you’re holding it?
What would you say about pain threshold in relation to voltage and hand speed, my gf can’t take the pain i pull nice lines on me but I hold back a bit with her and of course, no saturation lol so I told her okay this line is gonna hurt and with no care for her clenching i got a nice line pulled on a crescent moon! So i guess im asking whats more painful in your opinion fast pull at high voltage or low and slow? Thanks again bro 🇨🇦👍
Awesome question I have the same problem on certain clients and I used to have that exact problem on my now x gf
Thank you...
❤️❤️ thank you
Thank you
From the bottom of my heart, thank you!
thats how you push and pull
Useful. Thank you.
