In the 1970's as a kid I could hear CB operators in Australia from the south of New Zealand on a handheld with a stock chrome antennae. I was seriously impressed, the 'bug' led to a 30 year career in commercial broadcast radio eventually. Great clip thanks
That's a very impressive distance and of course back then the frequencies were much clearer, also I think once we experience the radio for what it produces it's in our blood for life, my own personal experience of talking skip very early in the hobby for me set me on course to constantly chase those difficult or more unusual types of contacts.. your career in broadcasting over many years was set by your early experience which shows that your early days impacted your life in a major way, nice comment and thank you for your input it is very much appreciated.
Hi Eric, I had a few stateside creep in a few days ago New York, California some Canada and Nova Scotia all top end of the map. Europe wise we've had them most days and all day this past week, some unusual contacts to be had like this one.. I worked Russia Turkey Greece and Romania this morning so there's some skip to be had. I'm sure mother nature will sort herself out and it won't be long before all the band's light up again, stay blessed my friend 73
@Truth Filter For TH-cam it's been a busy seven months of skip coming into the UK, I filled up three log books with most of the contacts I've had, also spoke to a guy in the Adirondack mountains daily with over 200 contacts to just his station.. his channel on TH-cam is CB radio ghost talk.. all the contacts we made are on there in the videos he uploaded.
Very true, this is one of those contacts you tell your mates happened and they just raise an eyebrow and think "yeah yeah righto" so I'm glad I caught it on video.. if I hadn't I would never mention it and walk off into the sunset lol.. Isn't mother nature awesome 👍
Hi Gazza, yes these contacts always bring a smile to my face, even better when you record them.. good luck with the your antenna build from your photos it's looking very nice. Take care brother. "Semper Fi"

That just goes to prove that you don't need lots of power to make DX.. Just rightt place, right time and the prop running in the right direction! 😄

That's crazy isn't it??✌✌
It just goes to show that the radio never ceases to amaze us and anything is possible when the conditions allow.
