Hey peeps - so do you have an iPad, a Macbook, or both? WHY?! Let me know below ;-) + 📣Make sure to get PaperLike for iPad here: paperlike.com/bettercreating2405 - BIG Love!
I have the M1 MacBook Pro with the M4 iPad Pro 11” and mainly because I actually like using FCP IPad for editing as I just find it so quick for multiple daily videos. Record on Ecamm and airdrop straight to iPad!
i’m in highschool and i hope to figure out how to use both to the max for now and throughout college. i’m going into engineering and hoping ipad for notes and macbook for all else
Great video. Quick question: how do you do Continuity Camera on iPad for FaceTime calls? I thought that was only an iPhone feature. The screen you're showing at 7:35 only mentions Apple TV. I would love to know how it's done 😃
You start off by showing an iPad screen as a second display for your MacBook using sidecar. But the sidecar controls are not visible. How did you turn them off? They take up too much space when using the iPad M4 as a monitor.
I use iPad and Mac pro also use the moft for my iPad Pro but have found a stand for my Mac which is a lot better than the moft. It called the above Tek tablet laptop top stand. Absolutely brilliant.
When you actually start trying to do this for any serious work you will quickly become frustrated by all the obstacles the ipad imposes. Eventually you stop using it for work and relegate it to being a large phone. It just can't do many basic things, or it takes much longer to do them than on a Mac. I've given up with my ipad pro and am trying out the new surface pro with arm. It finally has decent performance unlike all previous surface devices i tried.
@oscarruiz3426 it's much better than the old sp9 is tried. Runs fast on battery and does not get too hot. Software compatibility can be am issue at the moment for some programs but for office and Web task plus light room and photoshop inhad no issues
I am interesting in using an ipad as an input device with my macbook pro to use with Illustrator and Photoshop, sort of a Wacom tablet replacement. Will this work?
Now here’s a video i like. The real edge of apple products is the ecosystem and i want to se examples of more ways continuity features make for a great workflow. I do need to use PC for some of my work stuff so i use both a MacBook Air and a surface laptop together with my iPhone iPad/Magic keyboard/apple pencil and Apple Watch through the day, but i kind of end up with the same apps on my phone and iPad and think I’m not really getting the most out of it. Been looking for videos like this and hope i find more like this and not “i replaced my laptop with my iPad type videos cause for me that would never work…
Great to read this! I agree: 3 years back I tried living with the iPad only for budget reasons (and having an old work laptop) - but it’s definitely best as an additional or focused device for alternative use cases to a laptop. Cheers !
As a music major, iPad. But need the computer still and am trying to upgrade for the pro. But am waiting til the MacBook Pro m4. Getting air for now. I’m a techy now lol. Thank you for this video
Very nice, brief summary of Sidecar and Universal Control. I use these only rarely, so it will be nice to have a resource I can quickly return to in order to refresh my memory the next time I need to use these features. Thanks!
Hi Simon. I love your videos. It is very polite that you show us time marks in the beginning of your videos. But please: Put them in You Tube too. I don´t want to go back and search for the exact minute. 😄
Thanks! I do put these on TH-cam… pasting again in this comment for you: 🎥 VIDEO CHAPTERS: 00:00 Make The Most of iPad and Macbook: Better Together? 00:41 Using The iPad & Macbook Together: Universal Control, Sidecar & More 05:06 The Best Apps to Use With Apple iPad, Macbook & Apple Pencil 06:47 Quick Tips for Apple Pencil & iPad
No offense, but if you really do coding, you will realize that SideCar needs to support portrait mode otherwise it can’t even show one function within the display. 13 inch iPad Pro is only as high as MBP 14.
Universal control is so unreliable, it seems to work for a while and then stops for no reason, then refuses to connect, then doesn't even give the option - I've spent weeks with Apple support, tried this on different networks, with wired ethernet, wireless, etc, it's just very glitchy - it may work for weeks, sometimes months and then just stops, the only solution is to log out of iCloud (which deletes everything including your wallet and cards) and logging back in. Have you experienced that at all?
I was able to connect for a day, but now I find myself unable to do it. I’m currently screen mirroring but I would like to be able to do this again. I thought I was the only one with this issue.
Hi, thanks for your vid. I’m thinking of getting a new Ipad (air), will it do the things in your video together with an imac 2021? Also, does the paperlike protect you from UV? Thanks again.
@@BetterCreating Thanks. To answer your question, I have both. An old Ipad to use anywhere and an IMac I hardly use because the subscription for Indesign/Photoshop is too expensive for me, a non professional designer 😢
So undecided at the moment. I like apple products for the longevity. An air might suit my needs, but the brightness for reading books in the sun, the camera to replace the scanner, and the M4 chip for future proofing and AI makes me think that's the better bet if I can afford it. But I do worry that my priority should be the laptop, as I still have an Intel Macbook Pro, and mac os sequoia seems really polished. The daft thing about the macs is M2 and upward are all about the same price, the only way to make a saving is to go for an m1 max which is a bit over £1000. Or do I just wait for the M4 to come to the laptop? It's so hard.

I clicked on the link but it took me to a blank screen???
I like your ipad case. what do you use?

Yes we need more videos of using both not about iPad replacing MacBooks
It’s an interesting point!
Facts. I had to scroll past 20 videos to find this specifi topic
@@BetterCreating also, how do you use both for editing if do at all?
@@СтепанЧернецкий-ъ8ь I use the iPad as a second monitor with the Apple displays manager. Very helpful!

I swear that the iPad and MacBook is THE BEST tech combination to ever exist.
Oh my, you are very efficient. Thanks for the great tips.
I couldn’t decide…. So I got both lol
Always Better Creating , love it

How do you use continuity for ipad and mac, its not available for me for some reason

I'm using both and an apple pencil. they work very very well together!
Well designed to be together…. A big investment thou! :)

4:13 that charging port is asking you to buy glasses 🤓😂 jk
great video ❤ cheers!
Why doesn’t my iPad respond to touch while it’s a secondary screen to my MacBook? What am I missing?
Hi you have a great set of books behind, can you make a video about the ones that made an impact in your life please?
It seems you use the 13" form factor. Do you think that the smaller 11 '' iPad would give you the same functionality ?
Can I use the Apple Pencil with OneNote on MacBook and iPad

Good choice! Cheers!
Using sidecar on my ipad and macbook air m1 8gb causing it to lag
is there any solution for this
I Will going to buy both in 2025 for study productivity purpose
An interesting video review would be what’s the best combo.
Mini or iPad and MacBook air or pro
iPad Air or iPad Pro and MacBook Air or pro

Glad it was helpful! Thanks so much :)
Can you use 2 X iPads?
Could paper like be effective on top of a screenguard
I think Paperlike is a screen guard...?
What's the stand that you used with your mac called?
Think it’s listed in the description :)

Ah good point: and I definitely don’t code. Yeah, they should really support sidecar in portrait.

@@julianborrero4977 I use a M1 max 16 inch matchbook pro und you ca do everything with this. Together with a portable iPad pro is a dream team for me.
It looks complicated to me compared to just using a macbook
Stick to one of course if you don't see the need - but this is where the ipad shines i think :)
I wish I could afford lol😝
I tried, but it is a bit overneeded. Mac book is more than enough for 99.99.97.99% of any service
Paperlike is too susceptible to scratches for my taste. They were great about giving me a refund.
Astropad. You’ll need an additional frame to keep the film in place…
some may think I'm trolling but I'm dead serious. The best way to increase your productivity is to get a PC.
PC is trash😊
