    Dude, Harbor Freight and Home Depot buy lots of advertising on your channel brother, just thought you'd enjoy hearing that. Suppose it's about time. Thanks for a great video, can't wait for the new ones you have coming out over the coming season. Seems like the smaller tool brands are coming out with answers to their big brothers.

      I bought a couple Ryobi tools for an emergency when I was on a trip. Was gonna give them away or toss them when I got home. That was 6 years ago. I still kick them around all the time. I abuse the heck out of them too. 😂 somehow they still work. I’ve left the batteries outside in the bed of my truck for multiple winters too. Temps into the negative F at times. I would never dream of doing that to my good tools so I don’t have any comparison for it but the stinking ryobi doesn’t mind it. For the money they aren’t bad for emergency kick around tools.

      I like the strength of the 1/2 sockets. 3/8 sockets are smaller and cant take as much abuse as 1/2 sockets can. im not in many situations to where I need 3/8 but I do use them if I need to

    • @300mag83
      @300mag83 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I instantly hated that you used the adapter. I get it that you did it to both so it was an equal playing field so it’s insignificant as far as testing goes. However anytime you use an adapter you are lowering the power transfer to the end socket. So the tools will both be less effective than of the 3/8 socket of the same size was used.

    • @logancunningham4801
      @logancunningham4801 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Had you used a 3/8 socket you easily would have taken off the 250 with the dewalt. It's the same as the Mac which is rated at 276 ft lbs of reverse torque.

    Am I the only one thinking an impact wrench should be substantially more powerful than a similarly sized impact driver?
    I just can't bring myself to purchase a compact wrench that may not be able to take off the lugnuts of my full sized truck. I know these two can do more things, but the time these took to get the lag bolts in didn't impress me either. Most impact drivers tested here have done it faster.
    See my point?
    For the record some impact drivers have more torque and RPMs than these wrenches so I could just get an adapter whenever I need to use 1/2 sockets and call it a day. And I know the 1/4 to 1/2 adapters can break with so much torque, but let's face it: with such low-ish torque output of these two, you wouldn't actually break a 1/4 to 1/2 adapter.

    So it turns out that the dcf890 is basically a dcf886 with anvil swap. Identical motors etc etc.

      I know you did. But a direct comparison with a 3/8 swapped anvil dcf887 vs a dcf890 with both having a 3/8 anvils hasn’t been done. Especially comparing wilhelm skidmore results.
      My prediction? The custom dcf887 would win.
      My second prediction? Doesn’t matter I bet new impacts are coming out next year. Across the board.

      @@juanc5149 haha... I hope your prediction is correct it seems like time, no?..
      Thing is... I love the hell out of my 887, it's a Workhorse for me. I'd say I don't even use Speed 3 most of the time.... it's got more than enough power for all fasteners...
      Could we use insane power for lags and smaller and lighter frame?.. of course
      Does it need it?.... Actually not the power
      do we want to see it?... yes
      Now Does the 3/8 and 1/2 wrench need to be updated? yes I'd say so compared to what Milwaukee has... no question there got to make those things more compact and Powerful to stay up with a milwaukee..
      Back to the 887, I honestly think you could make the current 887 power specs but add just a little extra power.... concentrate on making it small and compact.. it would sell like crazy ...

    Did Ryobi release a new 3/8 impact without you knowing? I can't even find any videos or anything else about it. It's model number PCL250. It has the same nose(or very close) as the PSBIW01. HD says it has 220ft-lbs of torque. It doesn't say it's brushless and the body uses that older grey unlike on the newer HP 3/8 impact. Which makes me think it's brushed. It's like a mashup of the new HP but with the old style body and motor. LoL. Please let me know if you know anything about this. It's part of a few tool with Ryobi days too. As a Ryobi fan, I keep up with their tools and not one has said anything about this. I'll reply with a link.

    • @androidken

      Compact tools are generally not going to be as robust as the full size tools... Simple physics and trade off for making the tool smaller... Ryobi is also the Entry Level/Home Owner/DIYer brand. While Dewalt is a Pro Tool Brand. So not meant for the same target market either...
      Ryobi's marketing is lousy on the details but the HP tools focused on improved technology, integrating self power regulation to get peak performance with whatever battery is used... Previously, only HP+ battery with compatible brushless combination could get that feature, similar to Rigids Octane... and better auto protection with the light flashing an error code to tell what's wrong to make the tool a lot more reliable and harder to turn into a paper weight.
      So it's mainly more reliable and simpler tool option of just getting the tool for the job and using whatever battery can provide the power needed rather than needing to match battery and tool... While the first HP tools released were only compact models. So not the highest performance as they traded to get the lower weight and size, which is unusual for Ryobi as they are typically bulky tools, especially keep in the form factor of the original battery all these years but they survived testing that bricked a older Ryobi brushless tool. So that's their main benefit...
      The rest of the HP tool line up, however, is going full size, and he mentioned the more powerful impact wrench that you can already see a review on ShopToolReviews... The HP tool line also extends into the 40v now and we'll see some outdoor tools with this update as well... While they may be also be updating the batteries to optimize them for the HP series, as the Ryobi marketing showed a new 4AH on one of the new tools...

      Ryobi is a cheaper brand. We shouldn't expect it to out perform something reasonably higher in price. I don't understand why people don't use the price as a comparison rather than features. I was pulling for the underdog in this little comparison but knew the dewalt woul do just a little more. My ryobi impact driver was good enough to zap off a lug nut on my car. How many things do you run across that are that much tighter at home? I do all my own wrenching and home repairs around here and some little side projects when the need arises. I can tell ya there aint much for the home gamer that those tool won't do. Not many know just how tight 250lbs actually is. If ya ask me, I'll take the pos brand for home use rather than paying a premium for something slightly better any day. It's all about intended use.

      While it's a compact tool, they're not more powerful than the full size tool... Simple physics, you can't shave weight and size without a hit on performance... So yeah, the smaller tool was less powerful... DUH! You need to have more realistic expectations...
