Nice results-throwing some love to an under appreciated jeep model. Will look forward to seeing how it does on the trails. Your brother must be stoked!
Just wanted to say, when you could see it. Thank you hopping back on to you and your family. I am sure it’s thought to invest the time and effort. Despite back seat Shadetree mechanics comments, you give us fantastic content that we can take to our own garages and utilize. Thank you.
I like to see a person using all the required safety gear and not cutting corners, keep it up! Thanks for the roof rack ideas. That Liberty looks very good! Agree 199% on building with what you have. I have two 92 FJ80s and both are very capable.
Thank you for doing more to this build! It's awesome! I own a KJ on a 4in lift overland style rig too. If you didn't know you can get OME front springs rated for the CRD. OME 2790 is the part number. Put that with some Bilstein 4600s and you will be good to go! I run that on mine with a bumper and winch too.
Dirt Church Sundaaaayyyyyy!!! I like the the content. I know your working hard. Probably harder than when you were plumbing. Keep up the good work and I know great things will keep happening for you.
I love the final message in this video, the most important part is to get out there in the vehicle you have! Take your Prius, minivan, or other car and go have adventures. Dont wait around for the perfect rig when most places across the globe are available with a little sweat and intitiative.
Very timely. I was just planning over the last week, building my own roof rack for my suburban, using the factory roof rack mounts like you did. Since aluminum is less expensive than steel now I’m planning on using sched 40 aluminum pipe. Keep up the great videos!
Love my CRD KJ Liberty. You just have to understand that lifting it starts a timer on the front CV axles. You will be replacing them more often. The CRD front differential is shifted more to the driver's side to accommodate the diesel motor. From what I can tell, this means that the driver's side CV shaft is shorter which causes the CVs to bind when there is no load on the wheels. I think limit straps could help this and I plan on trying it out.
It took us over a year to find this one! We actually have alot of crd Libertys in the pnw but I really wanted to find one that was fully loaded and didn't have anything done to it yet. This one had 86k on it so I did the timing belt, upgraded the charge pipes, installed a billet torque converter, a shift kit, did an economy tune deleted the factory muffler and deleted the vicious heater. For the next 5 years of Ownership we didn't do anything but change the oil and the fuel filter. It was super reliable and very fuel efficient. I still miss it lol but you can't keep them all. If you take care of these and upgrade the problem areas first you will love it!
I had a liberty once they are kinda fun. Not to bad for a little 4x4. My liberty with 225/75r16 bald street tread would keep up with my brothers little bronco2 he had with a little lift and 31/10.5 bfg mt.
I use to have a Liberty about 10 years ago. It was a good entry to wheeling for me. I did about the same lift and tire size. It was great because I could fit the whole family and had a/c. I miss it sometimes for the comfort. That thing looks great!
There is one of these for sale in the California central valley for a reasonable price right now on Craig's list. Probably wont last long, these diesel Liberties are rare.
In the towing industry they're called a door wedge! To the point guys will use them to wedge the door open so they can get a long jim inside to unlock the vehicle.
Thanks for this video. I also got a a lifted KJ with roof rack (Frontrunner), roof top tent and the same awning, like your brother has. You showed a few interesting things, like the fork. I also like the LP6 lights. They are looking great. Looking forward to watch the following part of the transformation. Greetings from Germany!
The KJ Liberty (Or Cherokee here in Australia) is fairly underrated! I've taken my slightly modified (2.5" lift, Roofrack, 30" tyres, LED spot lights) through a lot in the Australian outback. And the only thing that needed replacing was the frot prop-shaft uni joint as the boot cracked and let a heap of sand and dirt in.
Ohh Thank you Thank you Thank you !!! For finishing this. Been waiting a while. We have a 2003 Jeep Liberty with a 2 1/2 lift. Was looking for a bumper build that’s how I found you. That thing looks great. It’s amazing the complements you get when out on the trail. Good job.
They sell the air bags at Home Depot and Lowe's, and I believe Harbor Freight also. They are super handy. Especially if you have a buddy that always locks his keys in his truck.
Hola amigo, me gustan mucho tus vídeos, Incluso estoy perfeccionando mi poco inglés. Por el momento mi única forma de apoyar tu canal es compartiendo y recomendado tus vídeos, Siga así hermano , nos veremos algún día, Saludos desde Chile
Awesome... I still have my 2005 Liberty didnt spend kuch money but lifted 2" and got some cheap ranchos on it and runs smooth on the trails... Many adventures with it in the last 8 years... I just got me a jeep trailhawk 2017 which i am loving as well.. but not fond of many sensors on messages board...
Air wedges are commonly used to get into vehicles when people lock their keys in. They are inserted into the passenger's door and the door is pushed open enough to either snag the keys or push the power door lock button with a long rod.
That rig looks awesome. I am not as much of a fan of the look of the rooftop tent on it, but it looks good. Those little bladders were a good idea for leveling the roof rack.
Man I miss wheeling my 2008 crd 2.8 libby I had a tune on it and that's was it but good tires saved my bacon a couple time and also pulled a city bus up a hill those things are awesome rigs to wheel mine killed the computer and I could not afford to fix it anymore are canadian roads started to eat the body
This has to be one of your best videos because no one does anything with libertys everything you see is so expensive plus the liberty is highly underrated, like to see more videos like this. 👍
Hey Nate , i have a 1.5 inch Bilstein lift on 30” tires my KJ liberty , with the Moog offroad premium upper A arms , i haven’t seen so far any CV boot rubbing but probably haven’t had it at full stuff. You think with that small of a lift i need the KK wishbones ?
Sick idea of the air wedges. I do a lot of fabricating by myself also and these look like they would be very useful. I'm wondering how spark resistant they are??
I bought some of that Seymour Truck bed coating and used it on the air tank I set up for my jeep and the repair on my sons Jeep bumper.....LOVE that stuff! Wish they made it in red for my Gladiators skids
It's super nice to see this! I own a 2004 Liberty with the 3.7 gas. Been debating a lift and some chonky tires among other things. Definitely need to see what shops are local for this...
nice finish on the liberty now lets get the old gladiator finished and put the tj back together love your Chanel keep up the great content and cool that story till now and you are collaborating
WOW! Sick little Libby! I have a 2007 (Gas) and would love to do some of the same upgrades. Especially the roof rack. I bought mine for $4K, and so far put about $2K into it with suspension, tires and a few other items. Thanks for sharing! 👍🏼😎
Nice! That is a beautiful truck. 👍Thanks for mentioning an Isuzu Amigo, we had a blast with one for years, 4:11 10bolt/ d44 lsd with a calmini lift and mt tired went everywhere. And could literally pick it up with a few folks to get it unstuck. Haha.
WOW… I’ve already thought of several applications for those Rhino Air Wedges that I could have used them in our new home of a week. And our home doesn’t even venture “off road” 😁 Love the Jeep Liberty, it’ll get your brother anyplace he wants to go.
I love the run what you have. I have a 86 cucv k5 blazer with the detroit 6.2 diesel. She doesn't win any speed contests but has been a fun reliable rig that I take my family out every chance we can get.
Your first video on the liberty making the bumper made it look so dam cool that I bought one I'd love to see some adventure videos with you and your brother in that little red beast of a liberty
Great episode! I have been waiting for you to finish this build since you first started it. I have exactly the same Model and color Jeep Liberty CRD 2006. Original owner from when I custom ordered it back in 2006. I am not a fabricator, nor do I have access to anything to do fabrication. What would be the chance of ordering a set of those mounts from you?
You can also add 2" conduit nuts between the strut fork and the bottom of the strut as a spacer. You can add a total of 3 gives about an inch of lift. Add a rusty's offroad top plate to the top of the strut and get another 1/2 inch of lift.
I've been binge watching all of your videos lately and recently took on a small project attempting to make a center console/shift bezel out of sheet metal. Love it!
I love the final thoughts in this video because it's so true. In other countries like Australia for instance they typically run 33" tires on a two inch lift. Here in the USA it's trending to go bigger which makes things handle weird for daily use and break quickly on the trails.
I wheel a boring Jeep liberty , 2.5" lift, JBA uppers, 32s , all skid plates, bumper delete , pinch welds cut off etc... these little jeep are actually capable and a lot of fun.
It’s amazing where a Jeep Liberty or wrangler can go on 31’s if one has decent driving skills. I really like this build!!! I bet your brother is very appreciative. Great video and content, thanks!!
Great build! I was stoked to see you addressed the addition of all the front end weight. I figured you would have, but when I saw the pic on Instagram it got me thinking.
Bought a 04 Jeep Liberty columbia edition. All blue fenders pretty, 4 inch lift, bought jba offroad control arms. Mudder tires stock gray rims still. Whole music system upgraded. All the bells and wistles. Looking for a brush guard everyday. & want the tail light guards bad!
Awesome build man! And nailed it with the run what you brung! Whatever gets you out and back again safely all while putting a big smile on your face! That’s a win in my books!! Keep it up!
Like the build and I was looking at those airbags that you were talking about on Amazon the other day thinking I need to order me some. Been around some years to stick in car doors so you could get your Jimmy tools in there to unlock your vehicle when you lock the keys in.
"Run what ya brung!" Amen, brother! I have a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer EXT, the 3 row seating model. Right now it has a 2" front, 1" rear leveling kit with 1-1/2" BORA aluminum spacers and 265/70R17 Firestone Destination AT/2's. Plan for this summer is to replace the front suspension spacer with a 2" BDS strut top hat, new Bilstein 4600 struts, Moog coil spring, and new strut mounts. The back will get new Z71 springs (from a 2009 Tahoe, don't worry they will fit, it's a popular upgrade), and Rough Country 23204 shocks. I plan to keep the aluminum spacer from the leveling kit. I also plan to install a Badlands Apex 120000 winch and winch plate. I've pretty well got it mentally figured out how I'll do it, just need to get it down on paper. Need to buy some steel, though.
Your mindset is on point, just build what you have, I'll admit my motivation to build my XJ has disappeared lately...but I'll get back around to it at some point
If its not a manual there is a hole in the firewall I used for my wiring that would've been for the clutch. On autos they just put a rubber grommet in it. Easy to use and you just put a hole in the grommet to seal it up again
Looking good. I've got a Liberty sitting out in front of my house that we are about to get started on for a overlanding setup. They make pretty decent budget rigs and are fun to build.
In November of 2021 I bought a brand new 2002 Jeep Liberty. I absolutely loved that Jeep. It drove great on the road and was also really capable off road even bone stock. I dove it for about seven years and then when I got married it became my wife's everyday driver. When we had about 105,000 miles on the Liberty the transfer case blew in my Cherokee. So we bought a used 2006 Jeep Commander for the wife and the Liberty got the lift and tires I had been wanting for a long time and became my new work vehicle. For all of the naysayers out there I had my Liberty in some really rough stuff in the mountains of WV and PA and it never disappointed. My 2002 Jeep Liberty had the 3.7 liter v6 and was equipped with the factory off road package and towing package. This includes a limited slip rear end with 3.73 gears and a high capacity cooling system. It also had pretty good skids from the factory including one that completely covered the front differential and engine oil pan. Here are some of the Mods: 1) 2.5 inch Frankin lift: This consisted of Old man Emu HD extended coils, shocks and struts 2) Jeepin by Al after market a arms 3) All new Moog heavy duty upper and lower ball joints and tie rod ends 4) boulder bars 5) rock crusher rear differential cover 6) 16" Jeep Rubicon Wheels 7) Goodyear Wrangler MT/R (with Kevlar) LT245/75R-16 tires
Nice little upgrades Nate on your brothers Liberty , made it like great. I noticed you hadn't converted his winch to a yankum system yet. Sure you'll get him there.
I'm bit late to the show but man that's a great list of suspension upgrades. IRO also has a full set of adjustable rear control arms that can be optioned with a Flex-joint on the frame-side. Another option to positioning the rear axle or setting pinion-angle.
"Run what ya brung" words to live by. Nice job on the liberty. See ya on the trails brother.
🤘😖🤘
Nice results-throwing some love to an under appreciated jeep model.
Will look forward to seeing how it does on the trails.
Your brother must be stoked!
As a kj owner, thanks a bunch for that tip on the forks 👍
Just wanted to say, when you could see it. Thank you hopping back on to you and your family. I am sure it’s thought to invest the time and effort. Despite back seat Shadetree mechanics comments, you give us fantastic content that we can take to our own garages and utilize.

Well said Ben
Thank you very much for the kind words 🙌 it means alot
10:26 but there is rubber grommet in firewall which can be used to guide wires, on drivers side. used this to put through few.
I have a 2004 liberty and I’m a senior in high school. Absolutely love it and off roading is my passion. Stoked to finally see this video!!
Have you ever done a spacer lift ? I have a liberty but can’t spend too much on new suspension pieces.
I like to see a person using all the required safety gear and not cutting corners, keep it up! Thanks for the roof rack ideas. That Liberty looks very good! Agree 199% on building with what you have. I have two 92 FJ80s and both are very capable.
Nice!
I want to build an fj80 eventually as well!
@@DirtLifestyle Can't wait to see it!❤
Great video for the KJ community! I was stoked to see you bring light to the KK forks being used for extra lift on the KJ.
How could I miss it 1 year ago...... But NICE go thru .....
I do have a Cry Voyager with this diesel engine 2.8 CRD it`s a nice engine.
Refreshing to see some alternative vehicles being built for the people who aren’t loaded but love the trails..
Thank you for doing more to this build! It's awesome! I own a KJ on a 4in lift overland style rig too. If you didn't know you can get OME front springs rated for the CRD. OME 2790 is the part number. Did you try the limit straps? I have them on my KJ and I don't see a difference. My CV's need replacing alot more often than I anticipated.
We've been looking for a CRD liberty for some time now. These are such cool rigs and you've done a killer job with it 👍
Im going to get one soon here an im just cutting it up to soild axle swap it like my other kj lol

Almost bought a common rail diesel Liberty back in 2006; bought a TJ instead. Amazing torque! Great powertrain, nice truck.
Love it! You are on point! I have a 2003 KJ 4x4 3.7. I’m doing this
Thank you so much for finishing this build. I have a jeep liberty and have been Anxiously awaiting the completion of this project.

So rad to see the rest of this build Nate! Your shop looks amazing!

Used to have a Liberty - was a great little truck - definitely doesn't get the love it deserves.

This is awesome I've been waiting for this since the bumper video I have a 2003 3.7 lib and can't wait to to do the same
man, awesome build! love to watch your non typical rigs built into something awesome. outstanding Nate. cheers
Love the diesel Liberty build.
This has to be one of your best videos because no one does anything with libertys everything you see is so expensive plus the liberty is highly underrated, like to see more videos like this. 👍
i have a jeep liberty, and was trying to figure out ways to make something like this happen, thank you so much for your video!
Great wrap up. Quite the significant transformation.

Might be good to go, if you wrap with welding blanket? Or protect with a welding blanket.
Thanks for making videos! You do an awesome job explaining everything well and inspiring people to build cool stuff👍
love love love!!!! So great to see your ideas for a liberty. I adore mine.
I bought some of that Seymour Truck bed coating and used it on the air tank I set up for my jeep and the repair on my sons Jeep bumper.....LOVE that stuff! Wish they made it in red for my Gladiators skids
You did an excellent job Your Jeep Liberti Craftsmanship I congratulate you for your quality work Best regards Greetings from Kocaeli, Turkey
Oh man that Liberty looks awesome! Your attention to detail is excellent.
I ended up doing the conduit washers for spacers on my forks...the KK hack is a good one. Wished I would have known about it way back when!
Oh good grief, you nail it every week, ty ty ty such a great way to end the weekend.
Haha.
WOW…
I’ve already thought of several applications for those Rhino Air Wedges that I could have used them in our new home of a week. And our home doesn’t even venture “off road” 😁
Love the Jeep Liberty, it’ll get your brother anyplace he wants to go.
Looking good should get some great weekends and trips in comfort there all the best to you all
I love the run what you have. I have a 86 cucv k5 blazer with the detroit 6.2 diesel. She doesn't win any speed contests but has been a fun reliable rig that I take my family out every chance we can get.
Nice! I owned a 79 k-5 and wish I still had it!
I really like builds like this. I think there are more people out there who want to get out and explore and budget is a definite issue.
You can also add 2" conduit nuts between the strut fork and the bottom of the strut as a spacer. You can add a total of 3 gives about an inch of lift. Add a rusty's offroad top plate to the top of the strut and get another 1/2 inch of lift.
You're the best brother ever! I did not know the came in diesel.
I've been binge watching all of your videos lately and recently took on a small project attempting to make a center console/shift bezel out of sheet metal. Love it!
Great build! Starting to do my Libby, some great ideas here. And the bumper build was awesome.

Nice Paint rack!! lol Excited to see future vids of the bros liberty in the woods with you!
Looks great!! And I love the roof top camper..
Always love seeing liberty content.

You should get a wood stove peltier fan (fan powered by the heat of the stove) to help circulate the heat from your wood stove.
Wish I had a brother like you that new how to weld and fabricate. Mechanical part I have down. Welding not so good.
Thank you, I did enjoy this immensely. 😊
Looking good. I've got a Liberty sitting out in front of my house that we are about to get started on for a overlanding setup. They make pretty decent budget rigs and are fun to build.
Very well done. Function over form video that most people can relate to.
Your work never ceases to amaze!! Great job on the Liberty!!
In November of 2021 I bought a brand new 2002 Jeep Liberty. I absolutely loved that Jeep. It drove great on the road and was also really capable off road even bone stock. 1) 2.5 inch Frankin lift: This consisted of Old man Emu HD extended coils, shocks and struts
2) Jeepin by Al after market a arms
3) All new Moog heavy duty upper and lower ball joints and tie rod ends
4) boulder bars
5) rock crusher rear differential cover
6) 16" Jeep Rubicon Wheels
7) Goodyear Wrangler MT/R (with Kevlar) LT245/75R-16 tires
Edit: I bought it new in November of 2001.
This is one hell of good looking liberty wow!
Diesel liberties are so cool!
Awesome man live the build young guy here and you gave me alot more ideas for my liberty definitely gonna get those forks
Wish it showed some wheeling in the liberty.
You will see this in many future videos 👍
Nice little upgrades Nate on your brothers Liberty , made it like great. I noticed you hadn't converted his winch to a yankum system yet. Sure you'll get him there.
Looks awesome. Not going to lie. I was looking forward to that original plan you had for it.
Glad to see you back. Great looking build for sure
That's awesome! I'm building my CRV. Not a true 4x4 but holds its own on rough terrain and gets the family out on some adventures.
How's your crv coming? I lifted one a few years ago hair under 2" with 30x9.5s
I'm bit late to the show but man that's a great list of suspension upgrades. IRO also has a full set of adjustable rear control arms that can be optioned with a Flex-joint on the frame-side. Another option to positioning the rear axle or setting pinion-angle.
What do you listen to when your working? Awesome video thank you for everything you do.
Hey, great work, but what did you do with sprinklers reservoir after installing the custom bumper?
excellent overland build, camping does not need to be expensive.
