Hi guys It's been a very busy week but we managed to squeeze in this ASMR (ish) 😅 video for you so I hope you enjoy it! ps ... we did try using the proper mic turned right up but unfortunately at our shop there is just way too much noisy traffic outside!
Dan your skills store and shop rule. I love the old equipment you do not see anyone doing this anymore where you out of. God i want a pair of dope shoes now. I should talk to you.
Often it's that outside noise that can make an asmar video what it is. Like the Indian barber ones with the busy street noise. It's part of the asmr experience
I did like this type of ASMR(ish) video but I’m not gonna lie I like the ones where you talk us through it a bit better. I like every video you upload basically is what I’m saying 👍🏻 Work beautifully done btw!
That’s like telling the chef you can’t eat his food because it looks too good. 🤔 …nice compliment if you’re blowing smoke; unless you actually don’t eat the food.
Just so you know, the bottoms of those shoes get ruined really quickly even on carpet, the paint or dye comes off really easily on leather soles even just walking on carpet which is one of the downsides is that they don’t look that great very quickly but the leather itself will last a long long time.
I know, right?! It makes me wonder how much a service like that costs. Because it is very involved and requires so much individual attention, as opposed to a lower quality or less desirable option that was performed by a machine. I hope the pay for a job like this is worth the effort, because these are fantastic!
I like the explanation mixed in with the ASMR. It was a good balance and still got the point across of what's going on. Relaxing and informational. Amazing work
Never realised that good shoe repairs were dependent on so much skill, I always assumed that it was a trade that would be fairly simple to join but after watching the care and exactness of your work and just how much pride you take in your work I realise just how wrong I was ! Finally was this your first choice of a trade, or something you was curious about and then found yourself drawn into because the challenge ?
Mate absolutely loving the channel. The care, dedication and level of detail you show in the art of repair is incredible. I like how you explain each step which makes you appreciate the engineering behind something so simple as a shoe. 👍🏻
Made the mistake of buying leather Gucci sandals and loafers about 20 years ago. One strap ripped, other stitches came undone within months of purchase. Shoddy craftsmanship, not made to last. Went to Ferragamo, had shoes and sandals that last for years.
Seeing the shape they were in I didn’t see the point until I saw a price of $900 ish online. Gasp. You are a true craftsman making it look so easy. Thanks.
I just love watching craftsmen work. Seems like in the age of instant gratification and disposable consumerism no one learns how to master an art anymore, so it's refreshing to see someone take the time to apply extensive knowledge into making a quality product.
I just love watching Dan work. It’s nice to see a craftsman who takes pride in his work. Especially these days where everything seems to be disposable.
Oh my goodness. Props you guys. Excellent work you do. There was this shoe shop in Ecorse Michigan called George’s Shoe Shop. My dad would make me as a teenager, so mad because when I told him I needed new shoes he’d always say, “these shoes ain’t been taught, I’m go take them up to George’s he’ll fix em.” I hated George’s because as a teenager I wanted new shoes and I knew once George got his hands on them, those shoes were going to last forever. Hard to find a good shoe shop today.
Really like your content otherwise and hope this doesn't become a regularity. IMO a big part of your channel's appeal are you and your great personality while explaining and showing the work you are doing at the moment. Keep up the great work, all the best!
Magnificent work you have golden hands! In Dagestan, the shoe trade is very developed, and I myself am a hereditary shoemaker. So, for example, I would also make rubber soles there.
Sometimes I listen to ASMR videos to fall asleep at night. If you could do a bedtime story video sometime that would be great. :) "Once upon a time there was a shoe..."
If you ever have a son (or daughter) I can just imagine them sitting there, on a stool, quietly and intently watching you repair and restore shoes, and walking 'at the hip' around the shop with you as you do other shoe repair tasks. Then on a lunch break, you two share a sandwich, cut in half. That'd be awesome. ✌

Hey Dan, been following you for a few videos recently and wanted to ask a question. I picked up a beautiful pair of Sutor Mantellassi shoes while in Italy a few years back.
