    ANOTHER really interesting cocktail you've showcased! I will definitely be trying this one out this weekend. I love these riffs on the old fashioned template... last time with the pina colada old fashioned (by the way, my rum is still be infused with the coconut and can't wait to try that too).

    • @CoachVinoLLC

      In my opinion, the Old Fashioned and the Manhattan are the best two cocktails to riff on. You can have LOTS of fun with it. Cheers, pal! ✌🏾

    Cool video man. Erick Castro is a beast. His instagram always shows him having a great time. I've been to his other bar, Raised By Wolves and it's fantastic. Just make sure you eat before you go. This cocktail gives me and idea for a cocktail. I think i'll actually go make it now. I'll send you a picture once i'm done. Cheers good sir.

    This sounds super interesting. Now would Cynar be considered a biter? Bc if so this Would have all the ingredients so an old fashioned and could be added to my list on my old fashioned journey

    • @TheSpiritoftheCocktail

      DOC!!! I wouldn't consider Cynar a bitter, but one could use it as a sweetener in an OF for sure!! Such a versatile Amaro!!!

    • @Jaw656

      Yes, "Amaro" means bitter in Italian!

    • @TheSpiritoftheCocktail

      @@Jaw656 You are totally correct!!! I need to do better!!

    • @CoachVinoLLC

      Hey Doc, as mentioned below, amaro means bitter but amaro tends to be lower ABV than a traditional “bitters” like Angostura and less potent. More suitable to use as your bitter AND sugar in an OF (two for one).

    As the song goes, these are a few of my favorite things! Cynar is definitely a favorite of mine for cocktails, along with Montenegro and Nonino. I’m pretty sure my usual honey syrup is more like 3:1… since you noted that there wasn’t much honey flavor in yours I might just try it that way and see how it comes out. If it’s too sweet I’ll think of something:)

    • @CoachVinoLLC

      You named three of my favorite amaro but I'm an amari groupie, so I like them all. haha! I'll be interested in hearing how yours turns out with the 3:1. Cheers, pal! ✌🏾

    • @neighbortim

      @@CoachVinoLLC Tried it tonight...with the 3:1 syrup I do get some honey flavor at the end, but still not very much. This isn't over sweet anyway. 🤷‍♂ I will say that I forgot the salt at first and then added it in, and this really does make a difference. Salt . . . it's just magic

    Any you or Tim recommend

    • @TheSpiritoftheCocktail

      If you haven't already, try a Cynar Martinez. It's my go to sip!!!

    • @neighbortim

      I'm probably not the Tim you were looking for . . . but I mix a boatload of cocktails with Cynar, that usually my first thing to try substituting for sweet vermouth. But then Averna is the classic to make a Black Manhattan, and Amaro Nonino is wonderfully complex and works in lots of drinks as well. Amaro Ciociaro kinda works to make a Brooklyn since you probably can't find Amer Picon.
      As rabbit holes in the booze world go, Amari (Amaros?) is a pretty inexpensive one to explore!

      Any Tim is a good Tim around these parts! Yes, the amari rabbit whole is one to thread carefully. 😅
