Fantastic transcription, full of virtuosity, and which gives a huge overview of the magnifiscence of Rossini's opera Semiramide . All the brillant style and technique of Thalberg is present here (arpeggios, "three hands effect", large chords...) and Francesco Nicolosi who is the leader of Thalberg's institute in Napoli plays it with "eclat", "bravoure" and "maestria". Another version exists, the one played live in Carnegie Hall by Earl Wild, which is fantastic too and in which the pianist plays his own additional cadenza at the end of the piece

I actually never watched the wholr Semiramide... Though I can pin it up.
Errata corrige: The last theme is: "Giuri ognun"
After finding this video, it has become one of my favorite pieces! This is definitely one of his best works. Thank you so much for sharing this!
Solo i genii possono superare i confini. Sia per chi compone sia per chi esegue sia per chi ascolta.

I quite enjoy this opera fantasia specifically, bez of how impressive Thalberg created and how he managed to suit the tone.
For others? Meh.
Poche trascrizioni sono molto belle ma poi tutte si ripetono con la stessa tecnica..😊
Wellll, this statement can apply to many composers including Liszt at the time.
@@SisselOnline in Liszt la tecnica e' molto più varieficata!
True...
Perfectly recorded also. The piano sounds awesome! You can even hear the dammers fall back on the strings after the right pedal is released.
