Winter Storm Camping In HIGH WINDS! - Testing Nortent Vern 1 and Gransfors Bruks Small Splitting Axe

- Hey everyone. Welcome back for another adventure. This was supposed to be a nice easy camp out. The weather was originally going to be in the low 20's with about mid 20 MPH winds and an inch or 2 of snow. Unfortunately that is NOT what I got. The winds drastically increased and were pushing 40MPH!
The Nortent Vern 1 handled the winds with no issues. It didn't even seem to budge at all. Super solid tent. I wish I could say the same about the tree limbs towering over me through the storm!
I also got to test out my new Gransfors Bruks Small Splitting Axe. It was a dream to use. Definitely a solid axe and make quick work of the logs I needed to split up.
I hope you enjoy the adventure. All in all, it was a lot of fun.
When those trees saw you their hearts were filled with joy. Then you rubbed it in their faces by setting up that tent right in front of them. No wonder they called in that wind storm.
haha I should have at least used them to setup a tarp or something. Hopefully they will forgive me.

Hey 👋, I really like that tent, but I especially like that backpack, who makes it? Ya know, at the 9:20 mark, if you look across the road, there seems a nice deadfall that never touched the ground.

Dan I actually was going to take that tree when I first went to look for stuff. There was just so many good options and I stumbled on that already down piece and it was perfect. Wasn't even all that wet inside.
The pack is made by ULA. It's called the circuit. Definately a go to pack of mine. Love it.

I remember that first night with those trees! I wasn’t there but got a buzzed call that night haha. I See you got the battery pump, that’s the way to do it! Too bad the night couldn’t have been like it was when you were setting up.

Great place to do some thinking for sure, I hope you do 20 and not a day more. It’s not the same and you aren’t the same person you were in 2006, more time with the family and more time to camp in the summer 👍 20 years is amazing and very respectable, can’t believe it’s been that long!

That's true. I did call you. That adventure was so funny. Idk what I was thinking lol.
Yeah I guess 20 is good enough. Family time is definately the biggest change. If I could guarantee only the minimum normal reserve time, I'd probably stay in but I can't. Their is always more and more time needed and I want that time to be with my family before my kids are grown and gone. Can't get it back.
I debated getting that axe as well... love my grandfor bruks axe I currently have, but that one would have suited me better I think
Well when we go on trips together you can bring your axe and I'll bring mine. We will be set with both types.
