  • Altgang! What's good, in this video we react to NF Let Me Go. I don't know how to feel about this track, there's a lot being said but not being said. Musically, it's dope but I feel like I've been left in the wind with messaging and what he's saying especially with how it connects to the rest of his songs.

This is a song to his burdens and emotions, this is the most powerful song on the album. Saying “Let me go” to his burdens when he’s the one holding on to them, if he just lets them go they’ll float away but he’s so scared by them and has been so brainwashed by them, he thinks they’re in control (lost talks about this too “pull a Baine on them”). Listen to the way he is arguing with his fears burdens and doubts, trying to find the seven letters (freedom)

I think he's talking about himself.. his emotions... when you don't think you're a good person even if you are, your brain will tell you you aren't... his emotions are the personified "they"

I completely agree with you on the concept that this song is NF trying to say that in order for him to move on, ‘NF’ needs to change (so that Nate can develop as an artist and a person). This is reinforced by him saying ‘take a gun and aim at my own reflection’. Good catch about the cell, but I feel like you may have missed the double/triple there! The perception album has strong imagery of a cell/prison cage which fans generally believe is a representation of his mind, a development from the mansion it was previously. He used a cell as a stage prop in his concerts for both Perception and The Search. Therefore, shattering his perception could be interpreted as him having to break free from the cage of his mind in order to find hope (what he’s Searching for on the Search) or the seven letters (Freedom). I really loved this reaction man, your perspective is always so interesting!

I love the theory that NF is an idea or a concept. I agree. In his very first song off of his very first album (Intro in Mansion) he says “NF is a monster, I am a villain.”

Definitely talking to / about his emotions, his doubts, his fears, all of the black balloons. 7 letters being FREEDOM. in The Search he's clearly out of the cell, but he's got the cart with him which is still kind of a mobile sort of cage that he can still get in and out of at will (God keeps sayin i'm not locked in/the keys are in my hand). In leave me alone, he's seen giving up a couple of balloons... it's all pointing to the idea that perhaps his IS working through some of all that from the past and moving to a new (brighter, more hopeful) future. And based on what i DONT see in the Clouds mixtape (not as much reflection or songs like this one) things do seem to be looking up for him.

I think that it's in Nate's POV. He probably didn't murder someone or anything like that, but as a insecute person myself I can say that you feel like God gave up on you and thinks that ur a waste of time if u forget to give the plants water. So long story short: Overthinking.

From a Christian view, "all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God". Everyone has done things they regret, and I feel like Nate is expressing how he has felt inadequate and not worthy of God's grace because of it.

    Hey love the channel.
I'm pretty sure he's talking about himself. Ive suffered the exact same things he has from a step-father and also sexual abuse as a toddler from my grandfather and one of my real dad's employees and I have the SAME mental health problems he does.
You have to really understand what God actually teaches in His word to understand why NF is asking himself these questions. People tend to think there's "good" people and "bad" people, the "good" people go to Heaven, the bad people don't. That is the furthest thing throm the truth. Every human being that's ever walked this Earth thanks to Adams choice, were born with a NATURE towards evil. You don't have to teach a toddler to steal, or lie, or hurt other kids because they picked up THEIR toy, we come out of the WOMB like that. The truth is we COME OUT separated and condemned for sin (the breaking of God's laws that govern morality). There are certain allowances given by God for children who died that don't know the difference between good and evil yet but once you reach the age where you know if you do this wrong thing that you know it's wrong and you shouldn't do it and you do it anyway you are accountable for that and already on your WAY to hell (eternal separation from the source of life, peace, joy, happiness, justice, love, beauty ect.). Jesus (God HIMSELF) Made this statement, people read John 3:16 all the time but they don't take the time to read the rest of that:
    John 3:16-21
“For God so [greatly] loved and dearly prized the world, that He [even] gave His [One and] only begotten Son, so that whoever believes and trusts in Him [as Savior] shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge and condemn the world [that is, to initiate the final judgment of the world], but that the world might be saved through Him. Whoever believes and has decided to trust in Him [as personal Savior and Lord] is not judged [for this one, there is no judgment, no rejection, no condemnation]; but the one who does not believe [and has decided to reject Him as personal Savior and Lord] is judged already [that one has been convicted and sentenced], because he has not believed and trusted in the name of the [One and] only begotten Son of God [the One who is truly unique, the only One of His kind, the One who alone can save him]. This is the judgment [that is, the cause for indictment, the test by which people are judged, the basis for the sentence]: the Light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil. For every wrongdoer hates the Light, and does not come to the Light [but shrinks from it] for fear that his [sinful, worthless] activities will be exposed and condemned. But whoever practices truth [and does what is right-morally, ethically, spiritually] comes to the Light, so that his works may be plainly shown to be what they are-accomplished in God [divinely prompted, done with God’s help, in dependence on Him].”
The only difference between a Christian and a non-Christian is that the Christian has put on the life jacket which is God's death in our place for sin, the non-Christian hasn't.
But all of us are sinners save not one and all of us deserve hell. But anyone who puts on Christ and believes in him has already had their sins paid for once and for all and is given the Holy Spirit and he changes the way they think and the desires that they have to the point where they no longer love to do evil but hated instead and now seek to do good even though they fail sometimes. Because as long as you are in this corrupted flesh you are going to be susceptible to sending at times but after your saved it won't be because you want to and you enjoy it it'll be because you made a mistake or because you don't know how to get out of what you've gotten yourself into. And also being still in this corrupted flesh leaves you acceptable to questioning your own salvation because you do have an enemy that hates your soul and wants to kill you especially if you're saved because then you can go out and tell others the truth and they can be saved and everyone that's saved is taken from his kingdom. And he will lie to you all day long telling you you never were saved and God doesn't love you and you never were saved and God wants to hurt you and you're going to hell. And that's when you do exactly what Jesus did when he was tempted you get out your Bible and you read the truth and quote it to him. Then he goes away because he knows you're a stronger believer than some others who will actually believe his lies. The only thing that separates a believer from an unbeliever is that we've all been offered a life jacket, the believer has just chosen to put it on.

I feel like this song is a letter of some kind. A letter to his fans. A comment to the critics or rap industry. A message for Satan and his demons that have broken Nate himself through life. And also a prayer to God for the help that he is looking for, that hope he's searching for at the end of the day. Just my thoughts though.
