Hello, there is an opinion that the quality of commercial and national blades on sale has been falling since 2018. Only blades, which are played directly by national players, have real quality. Do you know if this is true? And commercial blades and w968 2020 and later release years are not much different from each other. Do you know if this is true?
I'm starting to think W968 is just Long 5 before Ma Long won the 2016 Olympics. I have the one before he won in 2016, Long 5 and Long 5 X, and the pre 2016 version is almost identical in measurement to the 968 and absolutely more powerful than the current versions of Long 5/X.
Hi Bruce, that's interesting to know. I think there's a possibility of that. Just like Viscaria, there are also players sharing that the early version of Viscaria is very similar to Golden Viscaria.
I would disagree from experience because I owned the very first ml5 and w968 when they came out and they were different. W968 has always felt softer and more control than ml5. There is definitely a difference. This was probably 2012 or 2013.

Hi Adrian, thanks for your question. Yes I'm still making videos. For handles, it's really hard to say which is better as it depends on our individual grip. For me, I find that Long 5 handle is the most comfortable for me. Viscaria is not too bad also. But FZD series handle feels a little odd for me as I don't feel comfortable with my grip.
Thank you for video in english and metric measurements . Regarding sound , for me it sounds the same. Litle difference in measurements maybe related to tolerances in manufacturing. There are manual sanding processes. Cheers and thank you for video.

For the measurement, to my knowledge all the w968 is made to be 161mm and is meant to be slightly larger than Long 5 and its provincial version. I'd presume that this increases the sweet spot marginally. But I'm pretty sure they chose the the better quality wood among the same material used in all three versions.

Hi Pedro, thanks for the question. I have not tried Fang Bo B2X before. But from the info I can find online, it's more stuff than Long V. So the feeling will be different. For me, I prefer softer blade so Long V is great. So it depends on your preference. Power and performance wise I don't think you will see big difference.

@Pedro Costa i see. If your budget allows and willing to spend more, you can try the w968 which is Long V National version. Its superb but will feel soft rather than stiff. If you prefer stiff blade I would recommend trying ZLC blades from butterfly.

Hi, it's confusing due to Covid. Olympics was supposed to happen in 2020, but because of the pandemic, the Tokyo 2020 only actually happened in July 2021. Hence, yes I have got it before Ma Long won the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Hi Quentin, thanks for the question. I have not tried HL5X before. However, I had read about it some time back. The HL5X was launched after the ball size was changed from 38mm to 40mm. It was built to accomodate to this change. Hence, it seems like HL5X is the better choice. However, from the user reviews I have seen so far, it seems to indicate HL5 does an excellent job with the new ball despite the change in size. Therefore, between the HL5 or HL5X, I would recommend HL5X for intermediate/advance players. And if budget allows, go for either the provincial or national version of the blade.

I think it's really interssting how everybody reviews these 2 blades. You say w968 is faster and me and other players say its slow, needs a lot of effort and is very controllable. My 900€ w968 bought from table tennis 11 is slow, soft feeling and very easy to control compared to 2015 hl5 normal Version that is more stiff and faster to me. I just can't use the small handle so I bought w968 but now it's too slow...seems I have to buy X5 or golden 5... I think the big differences come from 2 aspects. 1: wood is always different because it's natural growing material. Depending on tree age, sun and rain and so on...a koto, Limba or ayous for example can be totally different. 2: there are many fake versions on the market which can lead to different characteristics

The surface of w968 IS better quality. The w968 feel more power and confort. The handle IS more thicker than commercial version. Few differents but yeah w968 play better. Equally depend of price, choose commercial version, It a star Blade, simply excellent if you want a inner carbon with Wood feeling. One year ago i play with HL5, now i play w968. The twice are amazing blades. My recomend, HL5 is perfect for european and japaneses rubbers. If you use chinese rubbers choose w968 for gain more speed.

Hi👋 Can you do a review of the new Xiom An Jaehyun TMXi blade please? It comes in two models - 1. normal TMXi and 2. TMXi pro. It's really intriguing blade. An jaehyun previously uses w968 before. It is said on some reviews that normal TMXi is similar to HL 5 and TMXi Pro is similar to w968. Looking forward for the review if possible. Thanks in advance🙌

Hi Fevey, I believe you are asking how about long 5x? Personally, I have not tried 5X before. Based on the review i read online, it seems like most players still prefer long 5 over 5x. But I can't be absolutely sure here since I have never tried it before. Sorry for not being able to provide a good answer.

I hear a very very slight different. Commercial is a tiny bit more flat. National is a tiny bit more sharp to me.

Does the blade splinter especially the long V(not w968)?
I've seen some people commenting on forums that their dhs long 5 are prone to wood splinters.
So using w968 national with both neo 3 (blue sponge) should be illegal…
