Sauber. Beautiful singing technique serves artistry. He stands well on his feet, shoulders down, tall but relaxed. His breathing is great, you see the chest moving freely and the back opening (eg @ 48s, see the elbows moving aside). Mouth position is also like in (old) singing methods : teeth slightly uncovered and same mouth width on all voyels. As consequence, I would say, legato is fantastic, all voyels are connected without disruption. Breath length is incredible (and it is very hard in low register as chords impedence is lower), many singers breathe more in this aria, even in studio recordings. Diction is very good too. One can especially hear that consonants are very precise (@48s or @1min58). Last phrase from "nimmt" down to the low F is not interrupted and this last note is miraculously resonant. His eyes are sparkling, he feels pleasure, I am sure. Me too. This music is beautiful and this is how it should be served. Bravo !
Being a native german speaker probably helps with his diction. In that vein, what is your native language. You seem to be pronouncing your "voyels" with a slight accent.
Your comment shows why, partially, I can`t enjoy opera that much. Why does this opera-talk have to sound so technical, so inhumane? He`s not a machine producing notes, he`s a person - hopefully - who feels his role. He´s obviously great, he studied this for years, he knows what he`s doing, and you can hear it - isn`t this enough? I`m actually really glad that I don't have to judge every vowel and every tone he sings for its technical quality. It would truly ruin it.
@@wesendreizehn6710 Technical knowledge doesn't ruin enjoyment at all, in fact it enriches it. Granted maybe you don't need to talk about it that much, but that's true with anything music, it's to be listened to. Look I studied singing for decades and I just appreciate when singer's pay attention to details, I also enjoy amateur singing. I think most professionals feel the same.
+William Arnold ... I think it's because in the lowest notes he keeps the smoothnes of his voice. There are others that sing beautifuly until they reach their low range, and music turns into noise. Kurt Moll sings perfectly each note. Besides, the orchestra is clearer than in other renditions, because the director paid attention to details. Just my opinion.
For a flashback, listen to him sing the 2nd Man in Armor in the Magic Flute version directed by Peter Ustinov, with Gedda as Tamino and the Hamburg Opera production.
One of the hardest things to accomplish in my opinion. Pure legato/fluidity takes a lot of practice. I never knew that until i took Classical Singing lessons.
would he be basso profundo? my vocal teacher told me to try and find basso profundo singers to model my singing after. he's hit the low c but it doesn't sound like full voice
Kurt Moll is possibly the greatest Basso Profundo since the advent of recording technology- his technique is second to none. If you want to see him sing loud low notes, check him out as the Commendatore & Osmin- he's just so good. Another favorite to check out of mine is Jerome Hines.
I found the spanish language subtiltes really funny. Everyone trying singing this would get all messed up because of total incompatibiliy in rhyhtm, rhyme etc. Interpretation as such gets +++

No, Glenn Miller is not better. You're saying that because he drops it down to a low C and Kurt doesn't. It doesn't matter if Glenn is lower, he is one of my favourite Oktavists but he's not in the tier of Kurt Moll. Also, completely different repertoire, types of voices and singers in general.
This is my favorite bass opera singer of all time.
Devon Walter Same here
his technique is perfect
Me too! I love to hear him sing Osmin’s aria from “Abduction from the Seraglio”!
He is the best!!
Yes!
R.I.P. Kurt Moll (1938-2017)
Why?
Karl Moll! RIP. What an amazing voice, it brings me to tears. The best Commendatore ever....

Thank you, great comment.

One of the best opera singers ever The most beautiful bass for sure
I can't quit watching and listening to this wonderful piece of music. So sorry I never saw Kurt Moll in person. His voice is so soothing and mellow.
Magnificent! He had a rarely beautiful voice. Technically clean and precise, always enjoyable to listen to him singing.
Ah, nostalgia! Now I remember exactly why, as a 20-something opera fan in the 80s, I had a t-shirt which said "Kurt's Moll"...........
I want that shirt
Add another comment of praise may not be necessary but I Do it anyway: the full, resonant tone and warmth made Moll's Sarastro a very fatherly one
Full opening, cleaned tube. And a Great personality with a Great heart. Best bass ever alongside Siepi
Utterly, utterly sublime - and that last note put goose bumps on the tears streaming down my face
When basses know how to sing with gentleness in their voice
Will be missed.
So very beautiful … it brings tears to my eyes. Hearing him sing this particular aria is like being wrapped in a big, warm blanket. Wonderful.
One year ago Kurt Moll passed away
Rest in peace
Dan Dankts rest in peace indeed Dan rest in peace. He will be remembered.
Why do I think this is the best I've heard this sung? Just perfect to my ears. Please let me know, TH-cam peanut gallery experts.

Martti Talvela did a great job in this aria check him
😲😳😳 I've seen Isis und Osiris as video suggestion, but this is a first time I listen to it. It is magnificent
Sublime! !!!!
For a flashback, listen to him sing the 2nd Man in Armor in the Magic Flute version directed by Peter Ustinov, with Gedda as Tamino and the Hamburg Opera production.
The best I've heard so far.
LOVE the design for this production, btw. Especially this aria.... The gathering of shadowy figures behind.. Wowwwww...!!!
Gracias de corazón
Shivers down the spine at this. So good.
Kurt Moll, bravo maestro!
Der kleineTeddybär
beatiful
Rest in peace big guy!
superlativo!!
Que hermosura!!!!!
Ascolto e una meraviglia voce molto explentita
Kurt Moll makes me cry!
Kurt Moll, Jerry Hines and Gottlob Frick are the finest interpreters of one of the most difficult roles Mozart wrote for a bass.
Woooow!!! This is TRUTH singing!!!
Wonderful. Incredible.
Rest in Piece :-(
Zertifizierte intergalaktische!
Just beautiful .....i sing along very badly but atlesst no one can hear me
M Woo Neighbours 😂
Beautiful!
This is classic legato singing. No one knows how to do it today.
One of the hardest things to accomplish in my opinion. Pure legato/fluidity takes a lot of practice. I never knew that until i took Classical Singing lessons.
yeah obviously absolutely nobody is capable of anything today. It was soooo much better in the past
Beautiful
Great voice. Nothing wrong here.
RIP

Check out his low C in Rosenkavalier!
Kurt moll has great low c maybe his timbre is strange for you because its specific but its real - true basso profondo
I found the spanish language subtiltes really funny. Everyone trying singing this would get all messed up because of total incompatibiliy in rhyhtm, rhyme etc.
Interpretation as such gets +++

thumbnail unfortunately looks abit like trump
