I think the fact that her opponent enters the scene without the stylized eyes is intended to imply that the fight was one-sided until Kaleidoscope revealed their epithet, after which it became an actual challenge that “came down to the wire”

Zora's Parents being legit murdered by Banzai Blasters was not something I expected to be revealed by this
Honestly, despite Epithet Erased being a relatively small project compared to some of the many anime and other projects that Dawn's voiced in, I can honestly say that Zora's probably one of her best characters she's played. The voicework she's done and her singing all equate to something of a spectacular story you just normally don't get from any other series that tries to do the same (*cough* RWBY *cough*)!
It's nice how thanks to her, Zora, despite her only appearance being amidst two episodes, is probably the most beloved "antagonist" with how much focus she's getting outside of the main story.

It's hilarious how this show is everything RWBY couldn't be because of circumstance and incompetence. It even shares some basic plot elements with RWBY: a modern fantasy world where people have powers linked to their souls (Epithets, Semblances), with the main villains being a group dedicated to protecting an oppressed minority (White Fang/Bliss Ocean, though i really hope Jello doesn't do something cringe with BO), the main character has a dead mother an a character arc about dealing with the problems of the real world (Ruby/Molly, but Molly can't shut out the world like Ruby did), and even certain character archetypes like the incompetent but arrogant red-haired "professional criminal" (Roman/Giovanni), or the cute but silent and psychotic henchwoman (Neo/Yoomtah). But Epithet just does it so much better, especially because they actually WANT to explore the world and story and characters and if a lot of the cut characters from Anime Campaign are any indication Jello actually knows how to cut down on bloat and too many ideas. Plus he wasn't held back by writing around someone else's fight scenes.
In regards to Dawn anime dubs just kinda suck nowadays partially because of the weird cadences and lines they write for them, here she can actually voice act in a character that's more hers and that she doesn't have to fit lip flaps for (especially because there are none in the show LMAO). Funny because the show shares a lot of voice actors with RWBY and they do such a better job here.

Fuck man these Songs have just been rising and rising in quality, you guys have been pumping out non stop bangers since the kickstarter ended. Countdown was a song I listened to multiple times a day for weeks after it came out, and I cannot wait for a Gio villain Song with the same quality. And even though great at crime was a song I already knew, I absolutely adore what you've done with it, and I'm sure it'll be the same for this song! Also dawn singing is always a treat, that woman has more talent than should fit into a human body, I'm always astounded at her performances!
Edit: yep, it's another banger. I can't believe we got actual zora backstory in this song too, i absolutely didn't expect that with great at crime being the banzais goofing around and countdown being a vague recounting of bounties she's claimed (unless it's hinting at specific people but I doubt it.), but it makes a lot of sense for a campfore vibe song to have some recounting of her backstory, it's rlly clever to put it in this one!

I want Epithet Erased. Just all of it. I want it in any form of media, I want to read it or watch it or listen to it, I want to be able to share it and review it and just simply enjoy it to the fullest. The amount of work Jello and co. put into these songs and voices and story is crazy and they deserve all the recognition. I supported the Kickstarter so I have Prison of Plastic downloaded and ready to accompany me on my trip abroad and I'm super excited to finally get into it. I'm already looking forward to anything else this team might make of this world in the future!! Thank you for creating this magnificent world and beautiful characters, I love them immensely

Great at Cowboy is genuinely one of my favorite songs of all time.
I am so so so happy that it got an extension, this is very different from what i imagined it to be but it somehow expanded and made the song so much better, I just love it so much.. I can’t explain why but listening to this song feels like looking at a masterpiece of a painting, as an artist it makes me feel so emotional, inspired, happy and weirdly, artistic.
Just looking and listening to it feels like looking into a story, thank you Jello, Dawn and everyone who worked on this. EE is such a masterpiece and Zora will forever be one of my favorite characters. I really really hope theres much more to come with this series, I would literally kill a man for a Zora figure
This is amazing! You guys did such a good job on this! "Cowboy Songs" aren't usually my favorite type of music, but this is an absolute banger, and it delivers so much cool backstory and lore! Who knew Zora's story could be so sad and the Banzai's so cruel, calloused, and actually mean and evil. Plus I wonder what was in the box! Was that where the Arsen Amulet came from? Ah! So many questions! And so much hype! Great job once again!

You know what I just realized. The Blasters that killed Zora's parents would've probably been rapidly promoted for the golden box and the murders. And since all the dead Banzai shown in the pile here are wearing Blaster helmets, they would've just been edgy teenagers caught in a pyramid scheme knowing none the wiser. They all died in Zora's hands whilst the real murderers get to sit up top enjoying the luxuries of being a Senpai or maybe a Baron.
I've been thinking that the reason modern banzai blasters are so weak is that she purposely culled out the strong ones so no one else's loved one would be harmed leavening the weak greedy dumbasses left

@@joel-uw2lg yeah, but still. It's been years since the excavation incident. Zora was just a kid when that happened so time definitely passed. The real culprits wouldn't have still been a blaster anymore because of their exploits that day. So every banzai Zora killed was innocent, at least in regards to her tragedy.

What happened to her parents seems very unusual for Bonzi Blasters we have seen so far. So either Zora eliminated this side to the organization, or the "real" higher ups are people not to be trifled with (something Vincent Murder might end up learning, with his rival organization).

Kaleid-ed. maybe the member of Bliss Ocean who recruited Zora has an epithet called kaleidoscope? Plus we see that they’re eyes are all sparkly in the silhouette. So maybe the Bliss Ocean captain with those giant curvy sunglases is the same character? And the glasses hide her kaleidoscope eyes?
Glasses is a whole other person with a whole other broken powerful epithet, Kaleidoscope Eyes is on the left, their eyes just aren’t active in the lineup.

As someone who has seen Anime Campaign, I genuinely wonder how and even if Zora's backstory will be incorperated in the series. Seeing this song I can only speculate that it will be handled a bit more seriously.

If "Sundial" really does require sunlight, I find it interesting that Zora can recall the time of day when her parents were killed.
There's a good chance that she could have tried to save her parents with her epithet after the Bonzais left, but when the Sun went down, there was nothing she could do. She might very well have been unable to reverse the dying process because the process was complete before she had a chance to finish reversing it.
That could lead to a great deal of trauma about punctuality and whatever caused her to be too late to save her parents. I swear to God, if it turns out that she was late because cleaning herself (which would explain her aversion to baths), I'm gunna lose my mind. Lol

So... Just heard this. This is pretty. Zora's voice is perfect for this. And the LORE! FANTASTIC!
Also, those I don't think those Banzais were blasters. They were some high-ranking jerks with dangerous bullet effecting epithets. Either way, it's interesting to see just how nuanced this world is outside of the silly perspective we get. Even "Countdown" shows just how lethal Zora can be.
I'm guessing bullets and other such ammo were changed since then to be non-lethal, or one of the Banzai Blasters had an Epithet which made the bullets lethal.
personally I like the idea of a Banzai sho can weaponize anything. Maybe his epithet is 'precision' so he can throw/shoot anything at the right precision to kill on impact
