Hay, A.B., thanks for the extreme weather M65 field jacket hood demonstration. I actually had a lot of questions about that hood after I found out that there was a warm hood that could be attached. I have the jacket, now Ill be searching for the hood. But, yeah, thanks, bro. You did a good job. The next step is up to me. I live where there is extreme winter weather at times so I’ll be looking for that hood. Om!
Great video... Thanks. Also the outer hood flap in the back/sides can also button under shoulder epaulets. Just unbutton them, button the flap down and then button the should epaulets back down.
For the longest time as a Kid I always wanted one of these and I couldn't afford one, not even surplus. end of 2016 I found one around halloween (along with some matching bdus ex-usmc) for 25 bucks (that's the pants included). It's been my winterj acket for the last 2 winters and now that I know there's a parka hood for it and now that I see how it attaches, I think I found my winter jacket for life. Awesome video was very helpful and informative!

We draped our hoodies from inside the neck zipper over our watch caps, (or beanies) or over our covers for snow, wind, rain if needed. Maybe the Army had that luxury of having these warmer hoods. Incidentally, I doubt my Czech field jacket has extra buttons for those but ill have to look now.
U.S. ARMY 98-14, My first duty station was in Alaska. I can assure you we were never allowed to use the hood that came with the field jacket. (or the hood on the old PT uniforms) Back then all we were authorized to wear on our heads up there was the issued balaclavas, and only if it was cold enough or past a certain date. Didn’t even know what those holes on the collar were for until a few years ago when I saw some hipster in skinny jeans wearing the old school OD green jacket with that floofy hood thing attached to it. The Army has always hated the hoods, and I swear they put them on the old uniforms just to **** with us. The newer cold weather stuff has the hoods hidden away or removed entirely.
HI, Congratulations on the video, I skip the subtitle in SPANISH (I'm from SPAIN) and it helped me a lot. The issue of buttons can be very confusing I have several M65s (OD, Tigerstripe, woodland and urban) And in 2 I have the Hood on, in urban the hood I paint it white and I use it for snow areas. I think the M65 has a glove system that matches the sleeve flap ??? Could you make a video about it ??? A CORDIAL GREETING
cool. i like those hoods. i have a parka but i have 2 m65 coats and i dont have a hood for them. i might have to get one. i just did a new m65 jacket video also.
Thanks for the video. The ruff is quite terrible and scratchy, even after brushing with a slicker brush. I'm thinking about replacing it with faux raccoon fur. I had a hard time zipping the jacket all the way up with this on. I believe if I replace the neck part of the fur trim with something flatter, it'll be easier to zip.

They are for when you attach the hood to the m51 parka. There are 2 button holes on the 51’s integrated hood to connect to the m65 hood, since when in use with 51, the 65 hood goes underneath the 51 one.
He knows what he's talking about. There's an actual real fox fur one, and a synthetic (fake / faux) fur. That's what he said. He could have bought the real fur one but he chose the fake one.

The inside flap of the hood doesn't go over top of the jacket liner. The liner goes over top of the flap 🖒

That is to attach it to a parka or a feild jacket so they put the buttons for both jackets on the hood.

It's for the M51 parka; the parka has a hood and you attached the parka hood over the extreme cold weather hood.

No rothco does not have the button holes or snaps for this hood.
